Why do we have to believe in God to enter paradise?

And why do good people who don't believe in God go to hell?
I mean I am pretty sure most good atheist people thought about it but came to the conclusion that there is no god, which is not an illogical conclusion. They gave "the God theory" its right and thought about it. Humans are not perfect and they think differently. Why would some of them be punished for that? -
In a way, I don't believe you have to believe in anything to get into heaven. The only requirement for heaven is to be good and do good things. So belief doesn't really matter, its just a guide line to be good. The basic reason for all religion is to guide people to act better towards others. So, your right.

But if I remember correctly, Quran contains many verses which state than non believers will go to hell.

Your beliefs are the most fundamental requirement for salvation, they are even more important then deeds. In fact, there is no such thing and there can never be a "good" disbeliever. By definition, disbelievers are evil people. Your beliefs have a direct bearing on your deeds and actions. If you believe in Allah and what He has revealed, then naturally you will act upon them and therefore become deserving of salvation. Salvation is by the Mercy of Allah Taala.
They have forgotten Allah so He has forgotten them (967)
So this is why it is necessary to believe, remember, and be concious of Allah Taala, this is why it is so essential to believe in Him for one's salvation.
Islam is the only religion acceptable to Allah If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah), never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (all spiritual good). (385)

As far as I know the requirements to enter paradise in that one has to follow the system. And what is the system? It is belief in God, belief in the Hereafter, and righteous life. So if you doubt God and the Hereafter but leading a righteous life Im sure the almighty and merciful God will still take it into account in His judgement.
Remember in Al Quran God informs us
1.When the Earth rumbles and shakes.
2.And the Earth brings out its mass.
3.And man will Say What is wrong with her?
4.On that Day it will inform its news.
5.That your Lord had inspired her to do so.
6.On that Day, the people will be brought out in throngs to be shown their works.
7.So whoever does an atoms weight of good will see it.
8.And whoever does an atoms weight of evil will see it.(Al Quran Chapter 99)

Salam Yusha. There are hundred/thousands of Qur'anic verses that is consistent about this matter but you prefer to quote a Hadith. This Hadith portray God as unjust and make a person born Muslim as lucky because they claim even if they commit adultery or kill somebody they will enter paradise because they are muslim. This is fallacy. God is Just!
If you claim you are a muslim and you kill somebody and did not repent you will go to Hell.
493 And whoever kills a believer intentionally, then his reward shall be Hell, eternally abiding therein, and God will be angry with him, and curse him, and for him is prepared a great retribution.
The Hypocrite (claim they are muslim) have a slight believe in their heart but they are promised hell!
631 When the hypocrites come to you they say "We bear witness that you are the messenger of God." And God knows that you are His messenger, and God bears witness that the hypocrites are liars.
9101 And from the Nomad around you are hypocrites, as well as from the city people, they persist in hypocrisy. You do not know them, but We know them. We will punish them twice, then they will be returned to a great punishment.
5713 On that Day, the hypocrite men and women will say to those who believed "Wait for us! Let us absorb some of your light." It will be said "Go back behind you, and seek light." So a barrier will be put forth between them, whose gate separates mercy on the inner side, from retribution on the outer side.
5714 They will call upon them "Were we not with you?" They will reply "Yes, but you led yourselves into temptation, and you hesitated, and doubted, and became misled by wishful thinking, until God's judgment came. You were diverted from God by arrogance."
5715 "This Day, no ransom can be taken from you, nor from those who disbelieved. Your abode is the Fire, it is your patron; what a miserable abode."

I stopped worrying about where we're all going after we die when I understand that all deeds will be given just retribution in the afterlife. Since none of us are perfect, then everyone IMO will get a taste of heaven and hell. We get the whole package > angel

Whole package, how exactly does that happen? Is like that everyone will see hell for the amount of time equal to their sins? I think that it could be possible that hell is more of a temporary prison than an eternal nightmare its been sterotyped to look like.

I guess this settles the other issue too, then.
I think that there are two steps to "salvation."
- we have to be in control of our self. (be at peace)
- believe in the truth.
The second step is just as important as the first one because even if we are in control of ourself, we can take ourselves in the wrong direction.

Yes, I believe that it would work that way. People go to hell to be cleansed of their sins first then they get to heaven (or vice versa, according to their deeds balance). This comes from what my religious teacher taught me when I was a kid (and I always suspected that he's some kind of a Qur'an-only person), and I still believe it.

My understanding of this all is that it has to do with Reality. The existence of God is a Reality, when you deny this, you cannot grasp Reality in its fullest and thus cannot develop yourself to the fullest. Jahannam is explained metaphorical and has 2 sides, an Earthly Hell and a Afterlife Hell. Jaheem is mostly translated as Fire, but it has many more sides to it. Its definition mostly refers to a point were progress is halted. It was used for restraints on camels and dogs to stop them from biting or barking , it refered to the point of retreat in battle.
Jahannam itself comes from a valley near Jerusalem that was first used as a human-sacrifice ground to idols, then as an execution-ground for criminals, people were dumped there who didn't had the right to be buried on sacred grounds. And in the times of Jesus, it was mostly a place were garbage was dumped. To keep the stench in control, fires were burned constantly. All of this gives the definition that Jahannam stands for all that society must not endure. When you went to the valley of Jahannam, you mostly did not return. It was a place were no further progress was possible.
Jannah itself means 'Garden in Foilage', again you have 2 Paradises, one we create here ourselves, and the Next we inherit because of our deeds and development in this Life.
In 2441 it stated that every object and creature knows it Salat to do its Tasbeeh. Tasbeeh means striving on a quest/mission. Every animals follows its instinct to achieve its purpose of existence. So Salat, which in its core means 'following closely', refers to the Following of the Divine Laws in Revelationa nd Nature. As we do not have a dominant instinct and to sustain Free Will, God gave us an 'outside' Instinct, Revelation. It is a Guide to learn us how to strive in the best to fullfil our Mission/purpose in Life.
Our Nafs/Self only develops through the Divine Laws. Throughout the Quran it is reffered to that the followers of Revelation will attain Jannah. When a person denies Revelation or even God, the person can only grasp certain parts of Reality, but not the full picture. The West follows the Divine Laws of Nature in a very good way, and so they have partially created an Earthly Paradise. But because their concept of God and the purpose of Life is not based on the pure Revelation, the Quran, the West lacks further progress and even is stagnating into a fall of society, where sexual moral and criminal behaviour have shifted to a dangerous form. God warns already that every other Deen, System of life, will fall into Jahannam, into a State of no progress.
Many countries in the world, especially Muslim countries and many South-American and African countries do not follow the Laws of Nature or of Revelation. Because of this, they are stuck in a state of despair. The people are in a constant struggle for existence and thus cannot develop. Again, an Earthly Jahannam. They do not die or live in this state.
But God says also that every person will be judged according to its possibilities. God has no personal merits, He has no grudge or anger towards people who do not accept Him. When people deny Him or His Revelation, they will fall into their own self-made Jahannam. And because they cannot develop themselves as they are in a state of denial, , in the Next Life, they will be again in a State of Stagnation, not living or dying, stuck in their regret because they are exposed to the Truth.
Heaven and Hell are states of existence we create by denying or accepting God's Guidance. He doesn't throw us into Hell, we do it ourselves. It is not that He is jealous or angry, He is above all that we think He is.

i've read many times in the qur'an that believers who do good will go to paradise. as it should be.
how could someone who doesn't believe in God go to paradise just because he does good works?
God gives him air and food and shelter and everything else and he doesn't even bother to thank God even think about Him, he takes it for granted.
and just because he does some good deeds he's supposed to enjoy himself after death even though he doesn't believe he will exist after death.
