We have enjoined on man kindness to his parents In pain did his mother bear him, and in pain did she give him birth (4615)

There is no like verse that enjoins the same kind of kindness and respect for one's wife. In fact the Holy Quran allows a man to beat his wife when necessary, but a Muslim dare not lift a finger against his mother.

But nevertheless can call her stupid (ref. one of your posts).

      To Yusha,

So the only woman you care for is your mother because you are forced to care for her according your beliefs!?

        Peace all,

In this quranic verse 420-21 I found more reasons for closeness and intimidates.

420 And if you wish to replace one wife instead of another , and you have given one of them a large amount, then do not take anything from it. Would you take it by falsehood while it is clearly a sin?
421 and how can you take it when you have become intimate with eachother, and the women have taken from you a strong covenant.

Above underlined it also points out that married couples are very close to eachother and therefore God stress this to make this a serious matter and nothing you can play and cheat around with.

And this is exactly what goes around among many couples these days and if we want to take heed and follow the word and wisdom from God this is better for us if we only knew.

        Peace
        Maria

the problem is ;she got similar treatment from her mother in law when she was young .now it is her time to torture someone -this her way - i suppose .
now she is far . my husband is lovely ,intelligent and wonderful to the kids .
she is coming back after some months .
i do try to talk about it - but my husband is very sensitive. he means i look down at his illiterate mother -and i am criticizing only to show off that i am from Europe .

            Peace,

You said she got same treatment from her mother in law, wow great ( but someone has to break this tradition or maybe this evil act will circulate again.

Come on sister, no one let her mother in law into their bedroom. What is this really!!??

Maybe your husband feels comfortable to have his dear mum in his bedroom!? For me it sounds very strange and odd mildly speak.

              As Salaamu Alaikum all,

This thread makes me sad to see "customs and traditions" of so called arab people that have nothing to do with the deen of Al Islam. Although I sympathize with the sister experiencing this tragedy, it has nothing to do with the deen of Al Islam. What this mother in law is doing is simply disrespectful and very oppressive. Islam says that oppression is worse than slaughter.

There is another custom of arab women that I have recently become aware of that disgusts me as well. It is women who kiss the private parts of their babies as some sort of gratitude. We call that child molestation in the US, and you go to jail for it. But many arab women, and who knows, maybe men too, think that it is perfectly normal and is no big deal. Although I think mostly the mothers do it, how would they feel if they walked into the room and found their husband kissing their baby daughter's vagina? Sick if you ask me, but maybe it is no big deal to some.

I hope that everyone evaluates people based on their character and adherence to Allah's laws, and not their identity, language spoken, race or culture.

              As Salaamu Alaikum, peace

I hope you do not believe that a mother moving into the bedroom of her son is "customs and traditions" of Arab women. Or that you are hinting that it is a kind of a result of "child molesting" - another custom practiced - by Arab women! I do not know what kind of Arab women you know, who "kiss the private parts of their babies" in front of you, or move in their married children's bedrooms. Or is it not a personal observation, but a study on Arab Women?

581 God has heard the woman who has argued with you regarding her husband, and she complained to God. And God hears the argument between you. God is Hearer, Seer.

582 Those among you who estrange their wives by saying to them "You are as my mother." They can never be as their mothers, for their mothers are the women who gave birth to them. Indeed, they are uttering what is strange and a falsehood. And God is Pardoner, Forgiver.

583 Those who had estranged their wives in this manner, then they do again repeat it, they shall free a slave before they have sexual contact between them. This is to enlighten you. God is well aware of everything you do.

                    As Salaamu Alaikum Samia,

No, I haven't heard that a mother moving into the bedroom of her son is "customs and traditions" of Arab women. But I have heard that it is customary for many Arab mothers to try run their children's married life. And no, I am not hinting that this particular incident may be a result of child molestation. The two referenced incidents or actions are unrelated other than the connection stemming from Arab women custom (of some not all of them of course). I have not seen any Arab women kiss the private parts of the babies in front of me, but I have had discussions with some of them once I heard about this custom (mostly North African arab women); and women that I otherwise considered perfectly normal women agreed that it was a custom of theirs and that they saw no problem with it; to my dismay. Moving into their married children's bedroom was not a topic of discussion. I think that is sick all by itself, but isn't a regular custom of anyone.

                      Salaam IQO

Thanks for the clarification. Just to mention, what you already know, that Arab women/Arabs live in about 22 different countries spread in two continents from The Gulf of Persia/Arabia to the Atlantic Ocean. Speaking of Arab customs, traditions or "personality" is too much a generalization.

                        .

We have enjoined on man kindness to his parents In pain did his mother bear him, and in pain did she give him birth (4615)

Kindly read and rehearse Quran like this

We have enjoined on man/women kindness to his/her parents In pain did his/her mother bear him/her, and in pain did she give him/her birth (4615)

There is no like verse that enjoins the same kind of kindness and respect for one's wife. In fact the Holy Quran allows a man to beat his wife when necessary, but a Muslim dare not lift a finger against his mother.

Now how you gather your answer is thus

There is no like verse that enjoins the same kind of kindness and respect for one's wife/husband. In fact the Holy Quran allows a man/woman to beat his/her; wife/husband when necessary, but a Muslim dare not lift a finger against his/her mother.
