Didn't prophet Abraham stand in his prayer and ask God to give him a son?

It is my understanding that 'al wahyan' can reach us in various ways. Sometimes it is actual inner dialogue, others it is the mere sight of something that touches your heart. It is a hard thing to pin down, imo, since we're all so different and the communication is custom-tailored for each one of us. For me, making music, being in nature, being with loved one's, and hearfelt reaching out all provide me the inspirational link to my Creator. There are many other ways as well, but that's just to name a few.

Overall, I believe the ayah is beautiful in it's explanation that God communicates with us constantly, in every possible way we can receive it - in spoken word, in direct one-on-one inspiration, and in hidden forms. It's reminding us to remain open to it, to keep a look out. We're surrounded by it - all we need to do is pay attention.
