The one who brought me the information of the Quran at a time I could accept it.

Peace everyone,
I have put this here, cos I was not sure where else to put it.
I need to discuss this with anyone who would like to share there time.....none of my friends get it, and have no interest in the Quran.
I have a contact that told me about his finding God and taking his Shahada. It led me to look for myself, and I also said my shahada, "La illaha illa Allah". (right from the start, i knew I only wanted to read the Quran and didnt trust the scholars of the hadiths, hence omitting the second bit of the shahada.....)
It wasnt long till both of us were questioning the hadiths....and found what we both thought was the truth, in the Quran....I feel very grateful to my contact, for leading me in this direction, but to tell you the truth, I am really doubting my faith now, as I didnt come to it on my own, and I kind of still wish I was able to talk to this person about it.......and I am not...(not my choice)
Why did it seem the truth when I was still in contact with this person, but it seems like a chore to study now....something of the essence of sharing it with another, is gone and so much has gone with it......
Im probably just nuts and should talk to God more ;D, but I really want to converse with another human about this predicament I am in internally.....I need a perspective out of my own head.....God willing...
Peace

I thought i had said what was troubling me....sorry
i liked sharing this faith with someone else....I am not now though and now I wonder what I am doing......it doesnt feel the same, and I cant work out if I was really into the Quran at all......
Im doubting my belief

Peace Boomerang,
This is competely healthy. Don't worry about it. I myself am always between faith and doubt, always, and about almost everything. I have realized that it is a great thing actaully, to question oneself, because questioning is like refining ones beliefs and character as it opens doors and puts you on a higher level of thinking...and with that comes spiritual growth. Relax and don't be so hard on yourself. I think you are on the right track. )

Boomerang,
I can understand how you feel even though I've never felt the same way; my conversion to true Islam was largely solitary. I think you're too used to studying Islam with someone else, which is alright, but you need to learn how to study the Quran all by yourself. It's very possible and even fun and you can always discuss Islam with us, but I suggest you also train yourself to be more independent in your study of Islam because being able to study and think independently are important. People who can't think independently are susceptible to being misled.
You know how I used to study the Quran (I haven't perused the Quran's verses in a long time)? Every now and then I'd wonder what the Quran says on a certain subject, so I'd use Win QT to look for relevant verses on that subject and sometimes I'd use the indexes of various translations of the Quran until I'd find what I was looking for. That's how I learnt quite a lot of the little I know about Islam, for example, one night about two years ago I wanted to know what form of government is ordained by God, mostly because I wanted to be sure that the Quran doesn't ordain a theocratic system like the one in Iran. I discovered that the basis of an Islamic constitution are 541-52 which state that a true Islamic state is one in which each ideological group can govern itself according to its own laws. This discovery also led me to understand 551 in a new way. The point I'm making is that you can learn a lot by wondering, by asking yourself questions about the things that matter a lot to you and then looking for answers to those questions in the Quran.

Agree with supernaut. I'd use a browser with multiple trans when I started. Don't try to take in a whole lot at one time, try to gauge your own pace, things fall into place.

Ah no no... maybe I've just got a natural poet in me begging to be let out! ;D

Hi
It was a family member who got me a Qur'an to read but my faith came by itself. In the end no one can force you to read the Qur'an, you have to genuinely read and understand it.
How I got my interest and boosted faith is by questioning the Qur'an. Like hold doubt inside and read it, always look for God's rebuttal's because God is expecting people to question. When I saw the answers and the signs that God presents I feel compelled to go out and explore. I research on scientific signs in the Qur'an, I go for walks and appreciate the weather, animals, plants, sunlight. Another sign that inspired me was staying up from night till dawn walking around. I did that around London and we saw the World around us sleep, then as the Sun rises it wakes up and continues as if they never rested, resurrected. It was beautiful to see the progression from night to day, the movement and colour of the clouds, and the response of animals to the Sun. It's all there to look at with your heart.
What I'm trying to say is firstly to use an inquiring mind with the Qur'an, don't accept it blindly, use your reason and don't pressure yourself, also saying it aloud helps because you are forming the words yourself and it will becomes clearer as you comprehend it. Secondly link the Qur'an to the world, don't just treat it as a book, because it isn't. Its a terrifying, compelling revelation, the Qur'an tells you to go out there and see God's signs, investigate enjoy nature and the World around you but look at it from a different perspective i.e. "Is this God's work or merely out of chance", this paired with reading the Qur'an will hopefully help you. May God Almighty bless you.
Peace

For me, when I was given the Qu'ran it immediately clicked with me. It was so easy to understand and if I didn't understand a verse I would really study untill I could understand it. I understand how you feel. There are times when I struggle because I think "maybe I'm too young to get tied to a religion" or "what if it's the wrong religon?" or sometimes I feel that Allah is not answering my prayers. But then I read this ayats in the Qu'ranIn the Name of God the Most Gracious the Most Mercifull
By the morning brightness and by the night when I grows still, your Lord has not forsaken you, nor does he hate you and the future will be better for you than the past.
Sura 93 1-5.
In fact read the whole sura. I find that no one can help me become close to God, but God. Sometimes you can struggle with your faith but that's what prayer is for.
I hope I've helped in some way. I'm new at this ;D

I agree with TAJ... I also feel the most important thing in this world is to have faith in God and associate no others with Him. If you were an old person dying in your bed and this was the only thing you were sure about ... then I'm confident you would still go to heaven.
Peace,

Thanks everyone for your replies......
I will just take it moment to moment.....I do love the Quran, I do believe God is there and i do believe I live my life with awareness....
I guess I get a bit sad that I am the only person in real life that I know, that thinks about the Quran like I do....Its something I need to learn I guess....to be happy with God only.
Is it wrong to want to share my thoughts with someone else other than Him?
My son loves this emotioncon, so this is for him jedi

It's not wrong that you feel lonely. Many of us do. If you go through that thread about starting an Islamic community, you will see that many people have said they want to start one because they feel very alone.

We are a social especies, so we like sharing. What can be wrong with that. Just, as a matter of common sense, use your judgement with the choice of persons, and be patient. Patience is a miraculous virtue and is always rewarded in the most heartwarming way. Do not get discouraged. God is with you, guiding you if you do not reject it. One of the things from the Gospels that I most revere and which is the whole point of Islam is Maryam's or Mary words "I am your servant, Your word be done on me". If you say that to God from your heart you can never be alone and you can never be wrong. That is the esence of acceptance of Reality, of acceptance of yourself, of peace with yourself...
I am sure, in sha Allah, you will get very well along, and I am sure that you are grateful to God for your lovely kid and that you pray for him... You are not alone Boomerang, you are in the best company, but it is true that man is a sensitive creature quite capable of suffering for any reason or no reason at any moment...
Patience and may His will be done.

I think it would be a good idea for you to go to your local mosque. You may not be a Sunni yourself, but theres normally a great community feel there and converts to Islam are normally treated really well. Ask the Imam there some questions about the Quran and hadiths. I am sure he will be courteous and respectful to you as long as you are the same to him. -
Bubbles,
The problem with your suggestion is that the Sunni Imam will either mislead Boomerang, or be very annoyed with her if she's an assertive person. And there's the possibility that the Sunni Imam and his congregation will become violent towards her because of her belief that the Quran is the only Islamic text.

I already go to a sunni forum, and i drive them nuts ;D.....I ask way too many questions, and I question things they do not like me questioning.......I also have questions about topics that they may not appreciate......
thanks for the idea though.....
(by the way, the nearest mosque to me, is around 250kms away!)
