    peace all

so i was thinking, how important is timing to do salat?
is it really at specific times, like daen, sunset...?
wouldn't that be kinda limiting? because i'm sure God knew even back then when He revealed us the quran, that a time will come when not everybody will be able to do it at a specific time, me for example, i sometimes work night shift and am busy at work during sunset and sunrise, but i can still do salat later, like when i wake up at like 2pm... or should i quit my job?

      Peace to all,

No Nersi, dont quit your job just because of prayer timing, God wants us to work and contribute to mankind, and work is a form of worship if done for Gods cause, so pray when ever you can fit them in your shedule, I switch my prayer times around abit sometimes but I still manage to do them 5 times a day, its your intentions that count, not some mechanical repetition done like clock work.

        This is what i saw

When it is time for the prayer, then you shall hasten towards the rememberance of God and cease all selling. That is better for you if u knew...

This is all you have to do. Salat- plain and simple

        Five steps to salat

        1.Preperation -

O you who believe, if you rise to keep the prayers, then wash your faces and your hands up to the elbows, and wipe your heads and your feet to the ankles; and if you have had intercourse, then you shall bathe. And if you are ill, or traveling, or you have excreted feces, or you have had sexual contact with the women, and you cannot not find water, then you shall select from the clean soil; you shall wipe your faces and your hands with it. God does not want to place any hardship on you, but He wants to cleanse you and to complete His blessings upon you that you may be appreciative.56

        2.Focal point-

And you shall take from the situation of Abraham for prayer. 2125

        1. Affirmaton-

And say ?Praise be to God who has not taken a son, nor does He have a partner in sovereignty, nor does He have an ally out of weakness.? 17111

        1. The Prayers

You shall pray to your Lord?. 108 2,,,

Example to say "My Lord, forgive and have mercy. And You are the most Merciful."

        5.Completion-

So, when you are done keeping the prayers, then remember God while standing, or sitting, or on your sides. So, when you are relieved, then keep up the prayers. Indeed, the prayers for the believers becomes a timed schedule.4103

All this should take no more than 5-10 min ( wudu + the affirmation + the daily prayer ). Depends on how long you talk. And be paitient in His service.

        Timing

Pray dawn and evening at sunset during the twilight. Keep the evening prayers at sunset until it has become completely dark; 11 114, 1778

You have between daybreak and sunrise to keep the dawn prayers and between sunset and the dark hours to pray the evening prayer. ( do you think you can take a 5-10 break around that time to pray to your Lord? )

        Conflict-

4101 And if you go forth in the land, then there is no harm that you shorten from the
prayers if you fear that the disbelievers will try you. The disbelievers are to you a clear enemy.

Get down upon your knees and pray to God day in and day out. But if you are in a state of fear ( of lossing your job, ect...), then you may do so while walking or riding. If you become secure, then remember God as He has taught you what you did not know. 2238-239

Nehemiah prayed while he was working several times he uttered quick, impromptu prayers under his breath when a crises arose.

Outside of the obligatory prayers morning and evening, one can pray at anytime of the day or night.

        peace,

mr. aw, are you really saying there is only 1 way to do salat, to remember God?
and we can take a break, yes, but there is no clean place to do it... that is of course if we're talking about this 1 method that many "muslims" do it.
which makes me think, if it really is like traditional muslims do it, it's really limiting, you'd be limited only to a few countries and a few jobs... is that what God wants?

mr. i, i like what you said there, but i'm curious about one thing, what kind of work is done for God's cause?

Through prayer ( salat ) we remember God. God commanded moses to keep the prayers for His rememberance.

There is only one right way the Scriptures teaches us to pray that I know

Jesus taught his disciples and the Quran teaches that true prayer is the result ( not method ) of an intimate relationship with the Lord and includes a dependency for daily needs, commitment to obedience, and forgiveness of sin. Prayer is to be consistent and persistent.

The above encourages results, not methods. You can find your own method of prayer. Let each work according to his own. Your Lord if fully aware of who is best guided to the path.

If you look under the Guidlines section there is no mention of shortning from prayer because of an unclean place.

God does not want to place on you any hardship, but He wants to cleanse you and complete His blessings upon you that you may be appreaciative.

All you have to do is implore Him. You can do it standing, kneeling, while you walking, or riding.

Wudu + salat should take no more than 3-7 min or longer if you like or maby even less time. All you really have to say is " My Lord, forgive and have mercy. And you are the most merciful." ( after ablution )

Work that is done for Gods cause include things like Giving/taking charitys, keeping the daily prayers ( salat ), making pilgramage, ordering righteousness, to advocate righteousness, to forbid evil, fighting in Gods cause, ect... any good that you do God is fully aware of it.

            Peace,

              Salam

              Good verses brother Anthony. Thanks

              Let us discuss this further

4103 When ye pass (Congregational) prayers, celebrate Allah's praises, standing, sitting down, or lying down on your sides; but when ye are free from danger, set up Regular Prayers For such prayers are enjoined on believers at stated times.

              Kitaaban Mawqoota! Set times!

Are these SET times as mentioned in the Quran Alone. Always definate sunrise and sunset times (when the birds really go off!) = 2 compulsory contact/praising times. Because remember Tasbeeh is mentioned for sunrise and sunset too and birds are given as example in the Quran.

              Any thoughts?

              Salam

I don't know, the Qu'ran says there is no compulsion in religion? What about places near the poles that don't have sunset/sunrise daily, or even monthly?

I was thinking about this subject earlier this week, and I don't recall reading anywhere in the Qu'ran that salat is a daily thing. It says to do it around sunset/sunrise, yes, but it doesn't say "EVERY sunset/sunrise." It just says to do it at sunset/sunrise. I'm thinking maybe these are the ideal times for it (tranquility, work-day schedule, start and end the day with GOD, etc), but we can perform salat whenever? If we could only perform it at sunset/sunrise, like I said before, people without sunset/sunrise would be doing it only twice a year. I've come to accept "connection" as a definition for the word "salat," in the Qu'ran sometimes refering to connections between two or more people but often the connection between the individual and GOD. The purpose of the "salat ritual" to me is to "maintain/uphold/keep-up the connection" between myself and GOD by praising Him, reading the Qu'ran, and meditating on how I can apply what I just read to the life I am living. In this understanding the frequency of Salat should not be "twice per day" or "three times per day" but "as often as needed." That is, fifty times or not at all, depending on how much "maintainence/upholding/up-keeping" your connection to the GOD requires.

Ya'll let me know if this makes sense or not. and as always, God knows best.

                  Salaam,

I'm inclined to do prayer upon rising in the morning and before laying down for the night. I don't pay attention to the clock very much. I don't believe for a second that God will not accept my prayers because of this. And, if I happen to remember God in the bathroom, I will not chase Him out of my mind just because I am in that "yucky room". I allow God to enter my mind anywhere/anytime, without restriction.

We spend so much time debating when or how to pray, instead of embracing the whole idea of prayer itself and realizing how blessed we are to have the opportunity to connect with the Almighty God, Creator of life and death.

                  Peace

                          Thank you ay.

I know people who do not pray at all... but, remember God often, do good works, give to charity, stay clear from wrongdoing, show constant acts of kindness, and believe in the hereafter. I also know the other spectrum of people who never miss a prayer, but display wickedness regularly.

                          Which is better?

                                Thank you ay.

I know people who do not pray at all... but, remember God often, do good works, give to charity, stay clear from wrongdoing, show constant acts of kindness, and believe in the hereafter. I also know the other spectrum of people who never miss a prayer, but display wickedness regularly.

                                Which is better?

                                peace,

yes I think the same - praying for the sake of prayer is useless.... thats why I believe in the quran when demanded of us, its usually (always?) followed by a command to do good/reform (salihat) - God knows best!
chapter 107 is a good example i find

                                Performance Agreement ( Salat/prayer )

                                1. Affirmaton- jedi

17111 And say Praise be to God who has not taken a son, nor does He have a partner in sovereignty, nor does He have an ally out of weakness.

peace aw - im just curious as to why you chose this affirmation as the one you have to say in your prayers specifically?

                                  Glory be to our God!

                                  Literal

2238 observe/guard on the prayers, and the prayers the middle, and stand/call to God obeying worshipping humbly.

Humbly = on bended knee, apoligeticly, ect...lowered....

Middle= daily, regularly, day in and day out, often, ect.....

( However this verse is still being analized, because their is a " middle " prayer ( the late night prayer ) )...

                                  peace

Try analyzing it in the context of being about marriage/divorce, because that is what the verses around it are about.

                                    peace,

peace aw - im just curious as to why you chose this affirmation as the one you have to say in your prayers specifically?

This is an important part of both morning and evening prayer services cause it is the statement of the submitters monotheism and Gods providence. And it is the foundation of Submission ( Islam).

There are parts of prayer which are absolute proof. If any of these parts are not fulfilled, the prayer is rendered null or void. And thus must be repeated. police

                                    1. After making intention for prayer to say

"Praise be to God who has not taken a son, nor does He have a partner in sovereignty, nor does He have a ally out of weakness."

(17 110-111 And do not be too loud in making your ( prayers ), nor too quite; but seek a path in between. And say "Praise be to God who has not taken a son, nor does He have a partner in sovereignty, nor does He have an ally out of weakness." )

( you might want to repeat this affirmation at least thrice. ( and glorify Him greatly 17111 ) )

                                    1. To pray to God

Example to say "My Lord, forgive and have mercy. And You are the most Mesrciful.?

(1082 Therefore, you shall pray to your Lord ??)

                                    1. The posture of prostration

( 4102 And if you are with them and you keep the prayers for them, then let a group from amongst them stand with you and let them bring their weapons; and when they have prostrated then let them stand guard from behind; and let a group who has not yet prayed come and pray with you, and let them be wary and let them bring their weapons with them.

3342 Bow down and worship Him dawn and evening at sunset. hail hail pr hail pr

I don't see any clear statements which declare the prayers "null and void" when we don't say those specific words. Actually, doesn't the Qu'ran say that GOD would never make our faith of no effect? Also, why "must be repeated?" This implies that the prayers are compulsory, but, I thought the Qu'ran said there is no compulsion in religion?

The God commands you to say the affirmation after making intention for your prayer. Do you see it in 17110-111...And to pray to Him....1082

If you do not affirm that you are indeed praying to the one who did not take a son, nor has a partner in soverinty, nor has ally out of weakness....

You might fall into idol worship in His presence...

Alot of people pray, but some of their prayers are nothin but noise and aversion....Why? Because they nullify their prayers by seting up partners in Gods service...And they praise others and set up equals with Him...While the thanks be to God...

You call on your Lord out of fear and want...And do not set up any partner in His service...And be aware of God whom you ask about, and the relatives...

And how can your prayer be valid if you dont pray?

You have to pray/salat in order to be of those who pray... Thus if u dont pray then you didnt pray....so your prayer is not valid...ect..
