I understand what you're going through. But please understand that it's not Islam's fault, it's your husband who has left you. I also find some of Hadith's teachings to be contradictory to Quran. Besides, Hadith is written by men whereas Quran was revealed by God himself.

Secularism does not mean non-religious, it just means believing in a system where religion and state remains separate, allowing freedom of thought and spirituality.

Why so?

The concept of religion should remains within the personal sphere of freedom. One's spirituality is a reflection of one's intimate self. It has nothing to do with a society.

I'm new here. I come from a moderate Muslim family. Therefore, extremism and bigotry is something I despise most. I used to be an active member of ummah dot com, but they promote an extremist interpretation of Islam, embracing violent activities and marginalization of women. After my relentless efforts in reasoning with them, I gave up and sought out moderate, secular and free-minded Muslims such as myself. Eventually I stumbled upon this site. From what I've been seeing here, I like this place already.
