What I gather from those extra versus is that Salat is something that needs to be upheld.It's something that one consciously does and may choose to neglect and follow other desires.

Who said God wasnt knowing ? God knows every thing. Jibreel wasnt knowing what God would do with this kafir aknowledging the uniqueness of God.

But he died anyway, it was too late for him, God didnt listen to his confession. Jibreel was afraid that God would pardon him.

So Jibreel, was afraid that God would make the wrong choice and Jibreel knew better?

Theres a Hadith I really like, in fact it is a conversation between the prophet Muhammad and Jibreel. Jibreel was narrating to the apostle of Allah about Moses and Pharaoh episode ; he said When Pharaoh was drowning, I was trying to put water and mudd in his mouth as quick as possible because I feared that Allah would forgive him.

So if Jibreel, one of the closest beigns to God and one of those who knows Him the best, thinks that Allah could forgive one of the most corrupted persons on earth who proclamed himself a god, why don't we think good about our god too, when He is the most forgivin and merciful.

Don't you think that hadith contradicts the following verses

1090 And We helped the Children of Israel cross the sea, and Pharaoh and his soldiers followed them out of hatred and animosity. But when he was certain to drown, he said I believe that there is no god except the One in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of those who have submitted.
1091 Now you say this? While before you disobeyed and were of the corrupters!
1092 This day, We will preserve your body, so that you become a sign for those after you. But most of the people are unaware of Our signs!

Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un is probably the phrase you've heard when someone dies.

Inna Inna is really inna-na. The first part is ?verily?, the last part is ?we??but Arabic tends to simplify, so it is written as inna (with only 1 noon and shadda for stress). It means ?Indeed, we? or ?verily, we?.
Li-llahi Li is a harfu jarr (preposition) meaning ?to? or ?is for.? It is used as a kind of possessive case. ?a laka akhun? (the la is really the same as li) means ?is for you a brother?? or ?do you have a brother?? So here, ?lillahi? means ?belong to God? or ?are for God?. (It?s also because of the 'li' that 'allah' takes kasra.)
Wa Wa means ?and?.
Inna Same as above.
Ilay-hi This is two parts, it means ?toward him?. Ilay is actually a form of ila (a preposition), which means ?to?. A grammatically similar phrase is ?thahabtu ila masjidin? ? "I went to a masjid". ?Hi? is actually ?hu?, the third-person possessive pronoun (?his?). (It takes kasra because of "ila".) So the overall translation is ?toward him?.
Raji3oon This is a form of raja3a, "return" (the 3 represents the letter 'ain, which is voiced with a tightened throat). Raji3 is a noun/adjective form, meaning 'a person who is returning'. The oon at the end makes it plural (so that it refers to 3 or more people). Raji3oon basically means 'returners', or better 'returning ones'.

Taken together, the phrase can be translated as ?We indeed belong to God, and we indeed toward him are returning.?

I gather that it can be intimidating, but If you go back and read old posts of some long-term posters here, you'll realize how it's a step-by-step process.
The search function is often recommended because on many subjects there have been some amazing discussions over the years. That is not to say that there is anything wrong with creating new threads/topics. It's understandable that a 'newer' generation will have a different take/mindset, and may not want to re-hash old threads. Also, I think it gauges the EFFORT the poster is putting in his search for truth if he/she is willing enough to 'search' first. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to 'reward' intellectual laziness. That being said, you do make some very valid points.

To the lurkers out there We won't bite you, if you don't bite us. It's okay to not be so 'knowledgeable'. We're all there, have been there. Heck, i'd stay far away from anyone who pretended to know it all.

it cant happen..thats what Im wondering..if this was a test then what is the point of creating handicapped children etc, who cannot perform at the level of other people...if a possible answer is to show other people how blessed they are, then thats not really fair on the people themselves..
im studying more..insha allah i will have abetter understanding in due time with patience and perseverence..i do not have any alternate answer as to what is the purpose of our life on earth, if not a chance to prove to ourselves whether we deserve heaven/hell...

peace sis sarah, i have considered what you said before i posted...it makes sense to some extent. my argument is then why put islamic/quranic laws for all mankind, if all of mankind is not capable enough to fulfill or live up to the requirements.ofcourse it makes sense for a psychotic killer to be put to death, but then again some people are hardwired to be less attuned to emotions..more violent in other words..how can God, with His ultimate justice put the same wordly laws on that person who is less capable of controlling violent urges than other people. there are people who cant help stealing, they dont realise what theyr doing..some people are more prone to depression...why put evryone in the same boat, when there are clearly different situations for every individual on this earth?

I agree with that too. Life is full of constant change and fluctuations. I used to be a person who was involved in many things, doing a lot for others etc. Then I went through hard emotional times and I retreated a lot. I wondered who the other person was, but again things changed and I notice I am becoming more ''outward' (? lol) again. I think time for yourself is needed, as you said, in our daily life as well as on the bigger scale.

Also seclusion can be depressing but also depression (and sadness) can be secluding.

True. Depression also sometimes causes someone to retreat into themselves. It's good to hear that you've become more outward again ;D.

Bornagain, i know what you're saying I think. I also believe that practicing Islam should be practical and an action - helping others, loving others and so on, rather than being so insular where a person ''loves'' God and doesn't really spread that to outside themself. Hope I'm making sense. When people talk about loving God more than others though I usually just assume that they mean that ultimately they look to God for direction not to man. I could be wrong but I hope that is what is meant.

Not sure that loving God and loving another can be separated. Personally, I feel that the true essence of loving God is loving another. God is Love. Believing and loving God is having the capacity, and constantly expanding it, to love. Some people can 'love' God and seclude themselves from the outside world out of the desires to be in servitude, and always 'near' him. But the cookie crumbles for me, if he does not show the desire to love one another, regardless if he loves God so much. That's mah personal view anyway. Feel free to crush my cookie.

Just because someone doesn't show love to others in a clear way doesn't mean he doesn't care for others. He just might not be sure what the best approach is to express his love. I agree that secluding oneself from the outside world is not a good thing as the verse below shows. However, getting some time away from the outside world is a great way to realign yourself with your purpose. Seclusion, although it can be depressing, feels like facing reality to me. But you're right total indefinite seclusion is not a good thing.

We are asked to use our faculties to make distict that which is evil and that which is good and make the right choice. We were given this gift by God so lets use it. Will drinking non-alcoholic drinks lead us into loosing our minds and causing trouble? Will it be harmful to us and the people around us? I am sure people will choose wisely ;D

Agreed. It's the intoxicating effect of alcohol one should be worried about. If a drink has a little alcohol but it's extremely unlikely that you'd get drunk from it, then what's the harm in drinking it?
