Salaam UC,
The language was fierce because the article was written as a rebuttal to Arnold Yassin's on 19.org on the same subject. Khidir and Arnold have a history. Insya Allah their is no bad blood running there.
Anyway, you said most of the Quran is meant literally which may be true but can you give me quranic evidence that the verse about the Jinn bringing the throne in the blink of an eye is literal? I believe the arguments that Khidir and I made that say Jinn are men and not spooks is very good and sound using verses from Al Quran to back it up. Could you please look over the argument on Jinn and try to argue using Quranic evidence than just disagreeing with it. Of course you dont have to but if you claim that Jinn are spirirts and that many people believe this you need to supply proof from Al Quran. Otherwise it is just conjecture. You say Jinn equal spirit. Every translation i have seen translates Jinn as a hidden thing or person. Not a spirit. Can you show me where you got this translation of Jinn from?
Surely 'many people believing Jinn are spirits' does not make it true. Many people believe following the sunnah of Muhammad will get them a one way ticket into paradise but we know that this is not true. I must advise to not accept something as truth until you can produce solid evidence for your case. If you can find the time please do so.
I will say again, Jinn are MEN, not spirits no matter how many people believe the latter. Read the evidence in that article, find evidence to support your claim and then reply to me.
As far as the salaat is concerned, that is Khidir's argument not mine. I haven't spent enough time researching that to make a comment. But again you simply disagreed without showing evidence. Why should I believe you if you provide no evidence concerning salaat? And I assure you that no hadith where used to justify the salaat argument.
When you said, "No christian or jew, or indeed other, prays like this." Did you mean as Muslims do in Salaat?
Quoting an article by Rashad Khalifa on salaat
"Quran conforms that Salat was lost after some generations for the people of the book. Losing it involved changing it in every aspect. The Salat as practiced today by most of the Jews and Christians is different than what was given to their prophets. Very few Jews and Christians have maintained the inherited Salat."
"In a book entitled "To Pray as a Jew" I found a lengthy explanation of the Prayers as done by the ancient Jews and few of the contemporary Jews. In this book the author put diagrams showing the movement and positions during the prayer. One look at these illustrations is enough for the Muslims to realize the similarity of the prayers of the Jews then and Salat as practiced by the Muslims." (Below I put the illustration from the article.)

"In his comment about these positions the author wrote "In most contemporary congregations very few people keep to the tradition of falling prostrate. Sometimes it is only the Prayer leader and the rabbi who does so. In more traditional congregations, however, some worshipers, men and women, will join the Prayer Leader and rabbi in the act of prostrating themselves. In Israeli synagogues, the practice is more widespread than in synagogues elsewhere. Since this is a position that we are unaccustomed to, one who has never done this before might very well demur. But once accomplished, the experience provides such a spiritual uplift that one looks forward to repeating it. Those willing to try this ancient ritual form on the rare occasions that call for it might welcome the following diagrams of the correct procedure"
It is also interesting to learn from this book that the prayers of the Jews involve wash before the prayers, (like Wuduu or ablution for Muslims), and the call for Prayers (like the Azan for the Muslims)."
Whether you have read Khidir's full argument which supports 5 salaat using ONLY evidence from Al Quran I dont know. But it's up to you to decide how many times you will salaat in a day. Just don't overlook the evidence and show your own if you want to refute it.
You also said, "However I think you are making the same mistake as Arnold Yasin, in obscuring the Quran
With talks about physical realm vs spiritual realm. And disregarding, that the Quran says, it will raise man up from the dead. (with body)."
I think your statement makes it clear that you did not read the article. There is an entire peice that argues the existence of a spiritual realm versus a physical realm. Why do you assume that when Quran says man will be raised in body that his body will be physical? Where is your evidence to prove this assumption?
I have shown in my argument on Jinn being men at this thread, http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=13858.msg164834#msg164834
That their is two processes of creation clearly described in Al Quran. The first takes place in the SPIRITUAL realm. See the verses below
1528 But when your Lord said to the angels "I am verily going to create a human being from fermented clay dried tingling hard;
1529 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;"
Here we see Adams creation process which took place in the presence of Angels, in the spiritual realm. Allah says he will fashion him, or make his form. Obviously this form is not a physical body but it is a form none the less. This creation process also mentions the spirit or roh. Now if you read the next verse you will see the physical process of creation.
327 Who made all things He created excellent; and first fashioned man from clay,
328 Then made his offspring from the extract of base fluid,
Then He made his offspring from semen of worthless water (male and female sexual discharge).
Then He made his seed from a draught of despised fluid;
Then He made his progeny of an extract, of water held in light estimation.
And made his progeny from a quintessence of the nature of a fluid despised
329 Then proportioned and breathed into him of His spirit, and gave you the senses of hearing, sight and feeling. And yet how little are the thanks you offer!
In the physical process it also mentions clay as a fashioned form but then mentions fluid or water, spirit and finally senses. Senses and fluid are absent in the metaphysical world but not in the physical world. Notice how both the metaphysical and the physical creations have form. When we are raised in body means we maintain our form but we are no longer physical beings. Again why do you assume that our form will be physical after we are raised and sent to either hell or paradise. Perhaps on the last day we are resurrected in our physical form but that is because we are still on Earth. But once judgment has passed and we are taken to our destined places we become spiritual beings but still maintain form and still have spirit or roh.
Verse 2259 is talking about resurrection in the physical world not in the spiritual world. Look again
Consider the one who passed by a ghost town and wondered, "How can GOD revive this after it had died?" GOD then put him to death for a hundred years, then resurrected him. He said, "How long have you stayed here?" He said, "I have been here a day, or part of the day." He said, "No! You have been here a hundred years. Yet, look at your food and drink; they did not spoil. Look at your donkey - we thus render you a lesson for the people. Now, note how we construct the bones, then cover them with flesh." When he realized what had happened, he said, "Now I know that GOD is Omnipotent."
The process at the end of that verse which mentions clothing bone with flesh is taking place in the physical realm not the metaphysical or spiritual realm. Do you have any better Quranic evidence to support your argument?
You also said, "About 2168 calling Satan a clear enemy. Maybe try a different translation."
Here are translations of the Arabic word Mubin from the link you showed me in verse 2168, keep in mind I also included enemy but that is not Mubin. The word preceding enemy is the word Mubin in each translation.
Literal - '...evident enemy.'
Yusuf Ali - '...avowed enemy.'
Pickthal - '...open enemy for you.'
Arberry - '...manifest foe to you.'
Shakir - '...open enemy.'
Sarwar - '...clearly your enemy.'
Khalifa - '...most ardent enemy.'
Hilali/Khan - '...open enemy..
H/K/Saheeh - '...a clear enemy.'
Malik - '...open enemy.'
QXP - '...an enemy that lays bare even your hidden imperfections.' (No clue how they got this translation)
Maulana Ali - '...an open enemy to you.'
Free Minds - '...a clear enemy.'
Qaribullah - '...a clear enemy,'
George Sale - '...your open enemy.'
JM Rodwell - '...avowed enemy'
Asad - '...your open foe,'
Looking at the various translations I must ask, did you check other translations when considering this verse?
Below is an excerpt from the article you didn't read that shows the meaning of Mubin

I hope this information has helped brother.
