If by 'western style democracy', u mean power obsessed mean politicians, lack of transparency in the system and its functioning etc.......... It definitely is not a good idea.

But 'democracy' as it is really meant to be, is definitely a good system for the arab world and elsewhere as well.

the word "muslim" comes from the root word meaning PEACE (s-l-m). By adding the prefix "mu" we are saying that a "muslim" is one of peace, more directly a person whose goal is peace.

well Tahira, i am a man absent religion, but that does not mean that i would side with the one that is man made. man has managed to take nearly all things good and twist it to his liking for his personal agenda.

thanks to all of you for your replies. it certainly made it clearer. everytime i would see someone quote a scripture, i would often see someone else follow with a scripture contradictory to the first, and it made it difficult to understand and i didn't know who or what to believe.
