    As Salaam Alaikum,

Be aware, when we say "man-made" we mean no insult to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). If anything, we believe that most of them are just lies on him.

    salaam

Ofcourse. Prophet Muhammad has NOTHING to do with hadiths. If he wanted such a compilation to be made, he would said so while he was alive. Its like, my speech has been turned into some kind of a religious ritual AGAINST my will, being spread IN my name.

        Hi eyeswideopen,

Qur'an is the literal word of God in Arabic and the culmination of God's revelation to mankind, revealed to Muhammad, the final prophet of Islam, over a period of 23 years through the angel Jibril (Gabriel).

(Quran is not a collection of prophet Mohammed's teachings. He merely wrote down the dictated words of God)

Hadith constitutes a collection of the sayings and doings of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and his companions, or sahaba, during his lifetime.
It was written down quite later(nearly 100 years after the prophet's death) based on recollections of what they have heard from their ancestors.

U will find most muslims in this forum do not go by Hadith(unless there is some sense in what's being said) becoz
*We do not believe in its authenticity as it was written down almost 100 years after his death etc
We understand and believe Prophet Mohammed was a good, righteous man who lived his life nobly.
But some of the hadith are absurd to the core and thus makes it stupid to associate such sayings with him.
So, we believe most of it is fabricated and consist a set of traditions and practices of the people of that time most of which has no relevance now.

        • Hadith was not writen down during the prophet's period and for nearly 100 years later as he had banned such documentation.
Nothing except the Quran was to be passsed on and followed.

*God clearly says in the Quran that Prophet Mohammed is only a messenger entitled with a duty to deliver the message of God(Quran) to people. He was not to make any new instructions for mankind. He was merely to follow Quran and live by its teachings.

So, Muslims are not to take any book other than Quran as divine.

Wisdom/ Truth from anywhere should be adequately examined with intelligence and only then believed to be true, for we as muslims are answerable for every belief and every action to God, one day.
"Do not accept anything that you have no knowledge of. Surely the hearing, the sight and the mind you are responsible for." (Quran, 1736)

        Peace!

they were written by different people at different times?

Probably, yes. The reading has been written by certain people .

the Quran is all of Mohameds teachings, yes?

It is what has been taught to him .

perharps giving definitions of the two words would be helpful here...

Hadeeth means discourse, tale, story, or narration.

          Ha Dal Oa (to relate) = 442, 78, 140; 668; 7185; 126, 21, 101, 111; 186; 209; 2344; 316; 3353; 3419; 3923; 456; 5124; 5234; 5359; 5681; 663; 6844; 7750; 7915; 8517; 881.

Quran means reading, recitation, proclamation, or rehearsal.

          Qaf Ra Alif (to recite/read) = 2185, 2228, 482, 5101, 619, 7204, 7204, 9111, 1015, 1037, 1061, 1094, 122, 123, 1231, 151, 1587, 1591, 1698, 1698, 179, 1714, 1741, 1745, 1745, 1746, 1760, 1771, 1778, 1778, 1782, 1788, 1789, 1793, 17106, 17106, 1854, 202, 20113, 20114, 2530, 2532, 26199, 271, 276, 2776, 2792, 2885, 3058, 3431, 362, 3669, 381, 3927, 3928, 413, 4126, 4144, 427, 433, 4331, 4629, 4724, 501, 5045, 5417, 5422, 5432, 5440, 552, 5677, 5921, 6919, 721, 734, 7320, 7320, 7320, 7517, 7518, 7518, 7623, 8421, 8421, 8521, 876, 961, 963

The reading has been described as the best narration/hadeeth by Jibreel .

One (hadith) is a combination of lies, chinese wispers, gossips, fabrications, politics, some good etc.. and the other (Quran) is truth, a revalation, and which rejects the hadith.

My position is that not all ahadeeth/stories are contrary to the teachings of the reading. Some of them do contradict here and there, others coincide, and some may speak of things on which the reading is silent. I do not see the need to categorize all ahadeeth as bad or evil and I do take the reading as a wisdom concerning servitude to God .

                Hi TheNabi,

But brother, The quran rejects the Hadith. Also majority of the Muslims classified it as part of the revalation, which is why we are in a mess today. The Jews and Christians did the same thing in the past, and now the Muslims are following them. I agree there are some good things in them, but when you read them, you come to realise that the Prophet never allowed these to be written.

                I like your name "TheNabi".

                Peace.

                  The quran rejects the Hadith.

The reading is ahadeeth. It rejects frivolous ahadeeth .

the Prophet never allowed these to be written.

I'm not sure if the nabiyy allowed for cencorship of this kind, but he would not promote misleading ahadeeth.

                  I like your name "TheNabi".

                  Thank you.

thanks to all of you for your replies. it certainly made it clearer. everytime i would see someone quote a scripture, i would often see someone else follow with a scripture contradictory to the first, and it made it difficult to understand and i didn't know who or what to believe.

well Tahira, i am a man absent religion, but that does not mean that i would side with the one that is man made. man has managed to take nearly all things good and twist it to his liking for his personal agenda.

Thanks for continuing to provide the definitions and occurences.

quran=proclamation is sounding a lot better to me now.

Hadith is just a story, the best story is the truthful (verifyable) proclamation(quran).

That must have been one of the quickest decisions ever made.
My brother in law still can't see the difference between Quran and Hadith and is still arguing his point that they are the same. wink

Some Hadiths are very good though but i think these have been cleverly(deliberately) been kept to(cover up) confuse us into thinking that the other man-made Hadiths are authentic too.

Its ok to believe in the toothfairy, but its not ok when the toothfairy tells you to chop someones hands off if they steal.

Oh and to everyone reading this post if the toothfairy was real dentists would be billionaires so remember TOOTH FAIRIES ARE NOT REAL, unless you are a very very rich dentist.

That's always the case for someone with a neutral or an outside point of view. This is the objective way of looking at things, from outside looking in. You brother in law and a lot of other people who've been born into this cult or understanding, will find it extremely difficult if not impossible to see the difference. A good example is my dad, I couldn't be bothered to explain to him anymore, because he KNOWS. How do you teach a teacher? wink

The word hadith in 'al quran' (the reading)

                                  http//mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/think-786/Hadith_in_Quran.htm

All information is correct to the best of my knowledge only and thus should not be taken as a fact. One should always seek knowledge and verify for themselves when possible: 17:36, 20:114, 35:28, 49:6, 58:11.

                                    Peace,

I think the key word that is missing from most of the definitions of ahadeeth is that they are ALLEGED sayings, and teachings.

There is no way nor any necessity to check their veracity.

Everything you need for heaven is in the Quran. Whether the ahadeeth or any other book is compatible or not is immaterial and can safely be ignored without penalty.

                                    Regards.

                                        Peace be upon you,

I would like to try an exercise in this thread if everyone is willing, there is never any compulsion.

I would liek us all to stop writing it like this "Hadith", and start replacing that with "story" (notice the lower case).

I guarantee it will help make the concept clear to any who will translate the word consistently.

                                          Peace Kyle,

I would like to try an exercise in this thread if everyone is willing, there is never any compulsion.

I would liek us all to stop writing it like this "Hadith", and start replacing that with "story" (notice the lower case).

I guarantee it will help make the concept clear to any who will translate the word consistently.

Is this regarding the Ayat of Al Quran?
