    Salam Wakas,

When I studied "masjid" I made a note on "ma", which was

MSJD - parts of a man that are the places of SJD, e.g. forehead/nose/hands/knees/feet etc. Any mode/place/practice in which the act of SJD is done.

Can you please elaborate a bit more.

    Salam Samia

masjid place of obedience, prostration (root seen jeem dal to obey, to show obedience)

From what I read from previous post, masjid cannot mean place. If masjid is a place than how do you explain this.

WA- KA- DHAALIKA AcTHARNAA cALAY -HIM LI- YAcLAMO 'ANNA WAcD 'ALLAAH H.AQQ WA- 'ANNA AS- SAAcAH LAA RAYB FE -HAA 'IDH YATANAAZAcON BAYNA -HUM 'AMR -HUM FA- QAALO IBNO cALAY -HIM BUNYAAN (AN) RABB -HUM AcLAM BI- -HIM QAALA 'ALLADHENA GHALABO cALAA 'AMR -HIM LA- NATTAKHIDHANNA cALAY -HIM MASJID (AN) 1821

And thus We made their case known to the people, that they might know that the Promise of Allah is true, and that there can be no doubt about the Hour. (Remember) when they (the people of the city) disputed among themselves about their case, they said "Construct a building over them, their Lord knows best about them," (then) those who won their point said (most probably the disbelievers) "We verily shall build a place of worship over them." 1821 (Dr. Mohsin Khan)

"Let us surely build a place of worship over them." 1821 (Abdullah Yousuf Ali)
We verity shall build a place of worship over them. 1821 (Pickthall)
Surely we will raise over them a place of worship. 1821 (Daryabdai)

AKHADH / ITTAKHADH = to take, to obtain receive to get to seize grab to take hold to perceive, notice, to gather, understand, infer deduce, to keep, adhere, to observe to take over adopt embrace follow copy imitate to accept to admonish, urge, drive, make use of.

REFERENCE FROM THE QURAN FOR "NATTAKHIDH"

And he (the man) from Egypt who bought him, said to his wife "Make his stay comfortable, may be he will profit us or (NATTAKHIDH) we shall take him as a son." Thus did We establish Yusuf (Joseph) in the land, that We might teach him the interpretation of events. And Allah has full power and control over His Affairs, but most of men know not. 1221

LAcANA -HU 'ALLAAH WA- QAALA LA- ATTAKHIDHANNA MIN cIBAAD -KA NAS.EB(AN) MAFROD.(AN) 4118

    Allah cursed him. And he (Satan) said "I will take an appointed portion of your slaves;

Does NATTAKHIDHANNA means WE SHALL BUILD

WE SHALL ADHERE UNTO / TAKE UPON THEIR ACT OF COMPLIANCE

What was the ACT OF COMPLIANCE of the people of the caves?
We gave strength to their hearts Behold they stood up and said "Our Lord is the Lord of the heavens and of the earth NEVER SHALL WE CALL UPON ANY GOD OTHER THAN HIM if we did; we should indeed have uttered an enormity!" 1814

The ACT OF COMPLIANCE of the people of caves was that they refused to call any god other than the Lord of the heavens and the earth.

I got this from the previous post by hafeez kazi.

    Salam,

I wonder you heard these verses before

Al Quran is complete and fully detailed

Shall I seek other than God as a judge when He has sent down to you this Scripture fully detailed?? Those to whom We have given the Scripture know it is sent down from your Lord with truth; so do not be of those who have doubt.

In their stories is a lesson for the people of intelligence. It was not a narration (hadis) that was invented, but an authentication of what is already present and a detailing of all things, and a guidance and mercy to a people who believe.

    Which Hadis?

These are God's revelations that We recite to you with truth. So, in which narration (Hadis), after God and His revelations, do they believe?

Did they not look at the dominion of heavens and earth, and all that God has created? Perhaps their time is drawing near; so in which narrations (Hadis) after this one will they believe?

So in what words (Hadis) after this will they believe?

One consistent source is better than multiple and contradicting source

God cites the example of a man who has partners that dispute with each other, and a man who has given to dealing with only one man. Are they the same? Praise be to God; most of them do not know.

    I hope this will help

    Salam.

When I learn about it for the first time, I told my sister and my mother about it. Thank God they believe in it. When I told about it to my friends, some of them just smile, some say that it is masterminds from the Jews and Christians, some say that I am no longer a Muslim and they cannot eat in my house if I invite them for dinner because my food is no longer halal to them and some of them says I am crazy. Some of them who claim to be learned in Islam and the Quran did not understand anything I say to them even if I quote verses from the Quran, as if the heard it for the first time.

    I hope that will help.

    Questions/Comments on the Quran

  • Meaning of the word Masjid?
    G gclandcp

    Salam,

As for me, I believe mesjid is not physical building. We can see from the verse below

And as such, We revealed their case so that they would know that God's promise is true and that there is no doubt regarding the Hour. They argued amongst themselves regarding them, so they said "Erect a monument for them!" Their Lord is fully aware of them, those who managed to win the argument said "We will construct a temple over them."

The word use in the Quran is ?NATTAKHIDHANNA cAlay ? HIM MASJID? where they translate to construct a mesjid over them.

If we see the other verse in the Quran, ?NATTAKHID? is use as ?TAKE? not ?BUILD? or ?CONSTRUCT?.

And the one from Egypt who bought him said to his wife "Make his stay generous, perhaps he will benefit us or we may take (NATTAKHIDH) him as a son." And it was thus that We established Joseph in the land and to teach him the interpretation of dreams. And God has full power over matters, but most of mankind do not know.

God has cursed him; and he had said "I will take (ATTAKHIDHANNA) from Your servants a sizeable portion."

So, the verse should be read as ?WE SHALL TAKE UPON THEIR ACT OF COMPLIANCE (MESJID)?

    Questions/Comments on the Quran

  • Some Of You Don't believe in "Allahu Akbar"?
    G gclandcp

    Salam Ahmad,

    Thanks for your comment.

The Quran told us that all things praise Allah and we just don't understand the way they communicate

Yes. Everything glorifies God. Everything supposed to do what it supposed to do. For example, birds and insect pollinate the plants that feed us, bacteria help to breakdown dead animals and plants. Tiny plankton needed for the fish that we eat and trees produce oxygen for us.

And your Lord said to the Angels "I am placing a successor on Earth." They said "Would You place in it he who would corrupt in it, and spill blood, while we sing Your glory, and praise You?" He said "I know what you do not know."

From this verse the ?Angles? know that the earth is in the perfect balance even without human. Just imagine the condition of the earth today if there were no human. Everything is in pristine condition. This is because everything glorifies God. Not because they uttering ?Subhan Allah? 1000 times like most of us do. We gain nothing by uttering those word. It is because the entire creatures are doing all the thing it supposed to do.

  • Some Of You Don't believe in "Allahu Akbar"?
    G gclandcp

    Salam,

In my opinion, glorifying God is not to just simply saying Allahu Akbar etc. It is by doing what human is supposed to do. A farmer planting crops is glorifying God, doctors treating his patients are also glorifying God.

And the thunder glorifies with His praise, and the Angels are in awe of Him, and He sends the thunderbolts, and strikes with it whom He will. Yet they are still arguing regarding God, while He is severe in punishment.

When we see the above verse, we know that thunder glorifies God. I think most of us know the importance of thunder to us. Thunder help maintain atmospheric charge and aids plant growth by ionizing the air and produce nitrogen oxide. According to recent studies, this process could generate more than 50 percent of the usable nitrogen in the atmosphere and soil. Nitrogen is an essential plant fertilizer. Lightning also plays a critical role in the natural cycle of forests by helping generate new growth. Areas that are burned by lightning-triggered fires are cleared of dead trees so that seedlings have the space and soil to take root. The global array of thunderstorms serves as a worldwide circuit of electrical generators. Through the activity of the lightning they produce, these generators continually maintain and renew the atmosphere?s positive electrical charge.
