  • Is octopus forbidden?
    I IjazAhmad

So I had a meal today which contained octopus. The chef was telling me how it is stabbed through the brain.

Now I'm thinking, I know 596 says we can eat all creatures of the sea, but wouldn't stabbing through the head come under a forbidden condition in 53? I can't say I like the idea of something being stabbed through the brain but my question is does God actually allow sea creatures killed in this fashion to be eaten.

I'm curious what you all think....

Of course it's halal. . Oh, Gosh! Takoyaki...

    I IjazAhmad

    Hello to all,

I apologise for the length of my post. I wish to include my reasons for coming here and posting. Any responses or advice would be most appreciated!

I have been interested in Islam for quite some time, but only recently did I stumble upon this website and the idea of Quranism.

I was raised in a Christian (very relaxed, no church attendance or anything) home, but after being scolded in school R.E classes for asking questions, and being told that I had to accept or go to hell, I stopped believing. I became agnostic for several years, but I've always felt that there was something missing in me.

When I reached university I studied abroad in Indonesia and got to visit a girls' pesantren, I made friends with several students and was surprised at how friendly and happy they were. Unfortunately after 9/11 Australia painted a fairly horrible image of Muslims as oppressed, barbaric people and although I knew this was wasn't true, I didn't know any people of Muslim faith till my trip abroad.

Seeing how, despite religion these girls were just like me, I began to read a bit about Islam and what I read, I found drawn to. However, reading about the ahadith ( I hope I'm using the correct term) and the conflicts between Sunni and Shi'a and other Islamic denominations scared me. For a peaceful religion, there is an awful lot of bloodshed and hatred..

Then the other day (literally the other day!) I came across a blog written by a woman who calls herself a Quran only Muslim. From her entries and her reasoning of why she doesn't accept the Hadith, I began to wonder if Quran only Islam might be what I'm seeking. I find myself agreeing to what I've been reading about it, and I've been thinking constantly about what I've read and how I feel about it.

However, I know practically nothing about Islam and the Qu'ran (I started reading it online) but am very interested in learning more. I still don't know if Islam is what I seek, but I hope that just by searching and learning I will find what it is I'm looking for.

    Seeking

Dear respected brother/sister, Salamun Alaikum (Peace be upon you)!

I can understand you, I had the same feelings about Islam (In reality Sunnism) and was scared! 'Ahadith' were written by sectarian people and they tell their followers to follow these books which defame Islam and let it look like a barbaric, inhuman 'way of life', 'system'(Arabic Deen). How can a loving and caring God allow bloodshed? Islam is misunderstood and that is because of some books written by men!

Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves , do not despair of the mercy of God. Indeed, God forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." (39.53)

    Take care brother! Regards,
    Ijaz, A.

YUSUFALI Now what is the matter with the Unbelievers that they rush madly before thee-
YUSUFALI From the right and from the left, in crowds?
YUSUFALI Does every man of them long to enter the Garden of Bliss?

PICKTHAL What aileth those who disbelieve, that they keep staring toward thee (O Muhammad), open-eyed,
PICKTHAL On the right and on the left, in groups?
PICKTHAL Doth every man among them hope to enter the Garden of Delight?

SHAKIR But what is the matter with those who disbelieve that they hasten on around you,
SHAKIR On the right hand and on the left, in sundry parties?
SHAKIR Does every man of them desire that he should be made to enter the garden of bliss?

Is it believable that the non-believers had this much of attraction for the Messenger?

Were he distributing entry permits for the Paradise?

Or something is seriously wrong with all these translations?

    Salamun Alaikum, Brother!

I read the context and became more confused! If you continue reading further you will come to a verse which is strange and weird!

This is the Free Mind translation

7032 And those who look after what they have been entrusted to and to their pledges.
7033 And those who uphold their testimonies.
7034 And those who maintain their contact prayer.
7035 They will be honored in gardens.
7036 So what is wrong with the rejecters staring at you?
7037 From the right and the left, in crowds?
7038 Does every one of them hope to enter a garden of bliss?
7039 No, We have created them from what they know.
7040 So I do swear by the Lord of the east and the west, that We are able.
7041 To replace them with better people, We can never be defeated.
7042 So let them talk in vain and play, until they meet their Day which they are promised.
7043 When they will come out of the graves in a rush, as if they are racing towards a goal.
7044 Their eyes are cast down, with shame covering them. This is the Day which they were promised.

    Do, you understand 7040? hypno
Who is talking in some of the verses and who is talking in 7040? If, it is God, then why is he swearing by the Lord of the east and the west? I think it's the Angels talking here ! hmm What are your thoughts? Maybe Angels? confused And, why sudden shifts between I and We? I want also some clarifications!

    Wassalam!

    Questions/Comments on the Quran

  • POLYGAMY IS A BLOT ON MUSLIMS (PART TWO)
    I IjazAhmad

    Peace all

In may last article I refuted the hypothesis of four marriages which has become a plague on the Muslims. Thousands of Muslims have committed the sin of marrying more than one woman unintentionally/ignorantly, while believing Bukhari and co. and the available translations of the Quran.

Now I will present my understanding of the subject which is based on actual meaning of the words used in the verse and most importantly on logic. There are many words in Arabic which has multiple meanings and care must be taken to use the appropriate meaning of the word depending upon the subject / context of the verse. Help should also be taken from other verses of the Quran.

We have been reading the verse 43 for years but so far have not succeeded in finding out what is injustice to the orphans and why marriage is their solution and that too in pairs of two three and four. This is a unique case in the world where solution of injustice is marriage of orphans or MMA and unfortunately this solution has given the Muslims the luxury of four wives

The first verse of surah NISSA is addressed to mankind and from there on the subject of orphans begins and continues up to verse 10. All nine verses are focused on the orphans and not a single verse is related to the marriage of men. The nine verses explains mankind how to nurture the orphans, how to manage their properties, when to restore their properties to them, instructs them to test the ability of the orphans, warns mankind from devouring their wealth. So the nine verses are FOR the orphans and BY the men. In the midst of all these FOR the orphans, Allah suddenly reveals one verse FOR the men instructing them to marry up to four women if they fear injustice to orphans and that too in an ambiguous way. Is this not ridiculous? There is nothing in the nine verses, for men, to extract out of it for their enjoyment or any other thing that are advantageous for them, except guidelines and warning. But what a tragedy, instead of giving justice to the orphans, the male chauvinists are enjoying the COMPANIONSHIP of four WOMEN.

And if you fear that you may not do justice with the orphans then marry off / arrange marriages (for the orphans) that are agreeable to you among the matured females in / by twos AND threes AND fours. Then if you fear that you may not compensate (the twos and threes and fours matured female orphans), then one OR those your right hand possesses. That will be more suitable to avoid injustice/avoid deviating from the right course/avoid having a large family. 43

Allah has given the permission to the guardians to marry off ONLY matured female orphans in groups.

    FEAR OF INJUSTICE

Definition of injustice Violation of right or of the rights of another an unjust act to treat or judge someone/yourself in an unfair way.

If a guardian violates the right of his orphans, will the guardian render justice to the orphans by marrying women in twos, threes and fours?

If a guardian treats his orphans unjustly, will the guardian render justice to the orphans by marrying women in twos, threes and fours?

If the guardian mixes his bad wealth with the good wealth of the orphans, will he render justice to the orphans by marrying women in twos threes and fours?

If a guardian devours the wealth of his orphans, will the guardian deliver justice to the orphans by marrying women in twos threes and fours?

You will agree with me that the guardian cannot render justice to the orphans, by marrying women in twos and threes and fours, unless the cause of the injustice to the orphans is addressed.

If I do injustice will Allah punish me or show me the ways to avoid it?

Has Allah ever showed men the ways to avoid injustice to their wives?

But in verse 43 Allah is showing mankind the way to avoid injustice. Had this injustice been punishable, then Allah would not have shown the way to the guardians to avoid it but would have punished them. Therefore this injustice is unintentional and the cause of this injustice is due to unavoidable circumstances, and was faced by the people of the prophet, is being faced by the present generation and will be faced by the future generation.

There are duties assigned for men and women by Allah. For example a father?s duty is to feed his children, so for children, feeding by father is their right. A mother suckles her children, so for children, suckling by mother is their right.

And test the orphans until they reach marriageable age. Then if you perceive in them sound judgement, release their property to them. And do not consume it excessively and quickly, that they will grow up. And whoever, , is self-sufficient should refrain ; and whoever is poor - let him take according to what is acceptable. Then when you release their property to them, bring witnesses upon them. And sufficient is Allah as Reckoner. 46

After restoring the property to the orphans what is the next duty of the guardians? The next duty of the guardians is to marry off the orphans. If the guardians devour the wealth of the orphans then they have committed a punishable crime and will be punished in the hereafter. If the guardians delay in restoring the property to the orphans after the orphans reached the age of marriage, then they are doing injustice to the orphans, but in this case also, justice cannot be delivered to the orphans by the guardians by marrying four women. If the guardians do not marry off the orphans after they reach the age of marriage and keep them at home without doing anything for their improvement, then they are doing injustice to the orphans.

To this world and the Hereafter. And they ask you about orphans. Say, "Improvement for them is best / setting right (their affairs) for them is best. And if you mix your affairs with theirs - they are your brothers. And Allah knows the corrupter from the amender. And if Allah had willed, He could have put you in difficulty. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise. 2220

As guardians, it is their duty to work for their improvement and they should not let the orphans, in whichever homes they are living, suffer because of their fault. The primary duty of the guardians in respect of the orphans is to provide, shelter, food, clothing and education according to their FINANCIAL CAPACITY. The secondary duty of the guardians is to marry off the orphans when they reach the age of marriage EXCEPT that they are studying or doing some courses or anything which are beneficial to them. If they are not doing anything after attaining the age of marriage then they should be married off. But those guardians who are financially weak and cannot afford to marry off the orphans singly will be doing injustice to the orphans by keeping them at homes idle and not doing anything for their improvement. To avoid injustice to the orphans in this respect Allah allowed the guardians to marry off the matured female orphans in groups of twos, and threes and fours so that the marriage expenses could be reduced considerably. Only female orphans are allowed for group marriage. MIN AN NISSA in the verse is an indication that only female orphans can be married off in groups and not male orphans. Please do not question me why Allah has not allowed male orphans to be married in groups.

Keeping the orphans at homes, idle, after they reach the age of marriage and doing nothing for their improvement, is an injustice to them. Even to your own daughters if you are not marrying off them at the right age, then you are doing injustice to them EXCEPT that you are helpless or forced by circumstances beyond your control or you are very poor.

Apart from helping the orphans it is obligatory for the believers to marry off the widows, male servants and housemaids and MMA (for MMA verse 43)

And MARRY OFF/ARRANGE MARRIAGES FOR the WIDOWS and the righteous among your MALE SERVANTS and among your FEMALE SERVANTS. If they should be POOR, Allah will enrich them from His bounty, and Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing. 2432

then marry off (the orphans) who are agreeable to you among the matured females (for group marriage)

The matured females should agree with the guardians on what issue?

There was no group system of marriage prevalent during the time of the prophet and all marriages were held in solitary. The group wedding is only possible when the orphan/s give their consent to the guardians otherwise there is no group wedding but solitary wedding. The guardians can?t force the orphans to make them agreeable to group wedding.

Then (after getting the nod from the matured female orphans for group marriage) if you fear that you may not compensate (the matured female orphans being married in groups)

And if you fear that you may not do justice to the orphans

And if you fear that you may not ?.. after there is a pause, so we should know the pointer of is in which direction? Is it in the direction of the orphans or the OTHER WOMEN? Common sense says that its direction is towards the orphans because the first FEAR was also directed to them. And moreover the subject is orphans and not the marriage of the believers.

The traditional translators say that the fear of dealing unfairly with/between two three or four women forces the guardians to reduce the number of other women to one or MMA

And you will never be able to be equal / deal equitably between WIVES 4129 (correct)

And you will never be able to be equal / deal equitably between WOMEN 4129 (wrong).

Women are common females therefore in no way men can deal equitably or unfairly BETWEEN THEM. It is ONLY BETWEEN WIVES men can deal equitably or unfairly and not with women. Therefore the traditional translation of dealing justly with the women is wrong.

A tennis player or any other sports player, sitting at home, cannot predict whether he will defeat his opponent or will be defeated by his opponent unless he has faced him earlier. Ask a bachelor whether he will do justice between four wives and his answer would be, ?I have not yet got married and I don?t have any married life experience and only after marrying four women I will be able to tell you my experience.? Even I am not sure whether I will do justice with two wives or not, if I get married today, only time will show me where I stand after second marriage. The injustice is not related to the fair treatment of wives after marriage. There is not even a single man on the face of this this earth who can say with confidence that he will deal BETWEEN his wives EQUITABLY or not without the practical experience. And who knows better than Allah that men can or cannot deal justly between wives.

What Allah has said in the Quran

And NEVER will you be able to DEAL JUSTLY between the wives, even if it is your ardent desire But turn not away altogether, so as to leave her (as it were) hanging (in the air). If ye come to a friendly understanding, and practise self-restraint, Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful 4129

There is a doubt on the wisdom of Allah when He allows men to marry four women, when He very well knows and already declared in the Quran that men cannot DEAL JUSLTLY between wives even if it is their ardent desire and moreover He has issued a command to the believers to DEAL JUSTLY.

Indeed, Allah ORDERS to DEAL JUSTLY and good conduct and giving to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded. (16 90)

How will Allah allow mankind to have four wives when He knows that mankind can never deal justly between wives? How will Allah override His Own command to deal justly between mankind? Will Allah allow His believers to touch the fire when He knows that they will burn their fingers in the fire? Will Allah allow men to touch the fire when He has already issued a command not to touch the fire? This is ridiculous.

    Why COMPENSATE?

    http//i.snag.gy/gsxs1.jpg http//i.snag.gy/KVnp3.jpg http//i.snag.gy/01Un4.jpg

The orphans are supposed to be married off singly but Allah gave the poor guardians a facility thereby they can marry off the matured female orphans in groups, but without the consent of the orphans it is not possible. Once the orphans, give their consent to the guardians then marriages could be held in groups, but again there is a fear for the guardians how much and how to compensate the groups which have given their consent to group wedding. The compensation to the orphans is in respect to their sacrifice for solitary marriage, thereby saving the guardians of the extra expenditure, had they married off them singly. The amount of compensation depends upon the guardians and their financial status and it is they, who will decide how much compensation they can give to the matured female orphans. After getting the nod of the matured female orphans for group marriage if they fear that they may not compensate the orphans of the maximum group, then they should reduce the group and ascertain that whether they are capable of compensating the reduced group or not and if not then they should further reduce the group and likewise to one. The one matured female, who will be married, will not receive any compensation because she will be married off singly.

But why MMA should be married off by the guardians?

that you may not deviate from the right course. / Thus it is more likely that ye will not do injustice / That is more suitable that you may not incline ./ that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice.

It is neither deviating from the right course, nor doing injustice to the orphans

    http//i.snag.gy/LdKnV.jpg http//i.snag.gy/y3aCV.jpg

    http//i.snag.gy/X3RTt.jpg

(the marrying of matured females in twos and threes and fours) that, will be more suitable /is the best way, to avoid having a large family/dependents.

As a guardian he has to marry off the orphans either singly or in groups and as a believer and sponsor of MMA by means of an oath, he has to marry off MMA.

The best way for the guardians, to avoid having large dependents, is to marry off the matured female orphans in groups as instructed by Allah.

The guardian should try his level best to marry off the matured female orphans and should not keep them waiting after they reach their age of marriage while nothing is being done for their improvement, EXCEPT that he is helpless or forced by circumstances beyond his control or is very poor.

SOME MORE VERSES OF ORPHANS DISTORTED BY THE TRANSLATORS.

And they request from you, , a ruling concerning women.. Say, "Allah gives you a ruling about them and what has been recited to you in the Book concerning the (WOMEN ORPHANS) matured female orphans to whom you do not give what is decreed for them - and you desire to MARRY them - and concerning the oppressed among children and that you maintain for orphans in justice." And whatever you do of good - indeed, Allah is ever Knowing of it 4127

Firstly, what was decreed for the matured female orphans in the book, prior to this verse? The polygamists have no answer because they never took this subject seriously. The only verse prior to this verse, revealed was 44, but unfortunately, the translators, loaded this verse also in the truck of MARRY and not MARRY OFF. The translators have left no opportunity and category/class of women for marrying purpose. They want to marry, every single, unmarried, orphans, widows, captives, slaves, housemaids, MMA etc. They do not have any list of women who shall be MARRIED OFF? Is this Islam?

And give unto (orphan) women their DOWRY willingly, and if of themselves they give up aught thereof unto you, then eat it in pleasure and profit 44

The WOMEN in the verse are not common women but matured female ORPHANS as this verse is a continuation of verse 42. The subject of Orphans concludes at 410

The translators distorted the meaning of SADUQAATHINNA as DOWRY in this particular verse. SADUQAAT also means NUPTIAL GIFT or MARRIAGE GIFT which should be given at the time of marriage WILLINGLY by the guardian, while marrying off the orphans singly, and not by the bridegroom. The gift depends upon the financial status of the guardian. And if from the gift, the MATURED FEMALE ORPHAN returns anything to the guardian then the guardian can take it happily. This verse is probably for the guardians who can manage to marry off the orphans singly

    What is decreed for women?

And married women except those your right hands possess. the decree of Allah upon you. And lawful to you are beyond these, that you seek them with your property, desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse. So for whatever you enjoy from them, give them their due compensation as an obligation. And there is no blame upon you for what you mutually agree to beyond the obligation. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise. (4 24)

    http//i.snag.gy/B9Qxj.jpg http//i.snag.gy/SZT03.jpg

The decreed for women is UJUR and UJUR is a FARIDAH and not gift, therefore SADUQAAT is a gift from the guardian to the orphan bride. The bridegroom gives UJUR to the bride before consummation of the marriage while a guardian gives SADUQAAT to the female orphan at the time of the marriage.

If four wives are allowed by Allah then HE should not have revealed the following verse.

    Why replacing wife?

But if you want to replace one wife with another and you have given one of them a great amount , do not take from it anything. Would you take it in injustice and manifest sin? 420

Why the word REPLACE and not marrying of second, third or fourth or on and on. Why no ADDITIONS to the existing wife but her REPLACEMENT. It is crystal clear that anyone who wants second wife then he should replace the first wife by means of divorce. Is it Allah commanding to replace any one of the two, three or four wives? Do all believers have more than two wives? Allah will not reveal a verse for a handful of male chauvinists.

MMA EXPOSES THE MYTH OF POLYGAMY

MMA is the most abused word in the Quran and regrettably no one has properly understood it. The traditional believe that that they are CAPTIVES / SLAVES and can be used for sex without marriage as the prophet used them. Modern thinkers after reading Quran meticulously have acknowledged that MMA cannot be used for sex purpose but only after NIKAH. But there is one, more important information about MMA of which the believers are unaware.

Or what your right hand possess

According to the traditional understanding a believer can marry two three or four or one believing woman or what his right hand possess.

Before accepting the above understanding of the traditional, let us know WHO and WHEN a believer can marry a MMA

And let those ABSTAIN / REFRAIN (from marriage) who find not marriage until Allah enriches them from His bounty. And those who seek a contract (for the eventual emancipation) FROM what is owned (by) your oath then let them write for them if you know there is within them goodness and give them from the wealth of Allah which He has given you. And do not compel YOUR YOUNG (MMA) (what your right hand possess) to prostitution, if they desire chastity, to seek the temporary interests of worldly life. And if someone should compel them, then indeed, Allah is , after their compulsion, Forgiving and Merciful. 2433

It is a clear cut command to those believers who are poor and do not have the means to marry (free believing woman, being unable to bear the marriage expenses OR/AND unable to pay the obligatory UJUR) should REFRAIN from the marriage UNTIL Allah enriches them from His Bounties.

And whoever among you has not the power to prolong the marrying of a free believing women then (let him marry) FROM what is owned/SPONSORED (by) your oath AMONG YOUR YOUNG believing WOMEN. Allah knows best your belief, you are from each other. Marry them with the permission of their people (their owners (by) oath) and give them their due compensation what is reasonable (and do not be) lustful and do not take them as secret lovers. But when they (become) free (from the bondage and are married) and if they commit unlawful sex, they shall be liable to half the punishment of a free woman. That is for those of you who fear fornication, but it is better for you to be patient. Allah is the Forgiver, the Most Merciful. (4 25)

Those believers who do not have the means to marry free believing women cannot marry until Allah enriches them from His bounties BUT those who do not have the power to prolong the marrying of the free believing women, (can?t remain chaste till that time) can marry from MMA among the YOUNG BELIEVING women but they have to take the permission of their people who are their owners/SPONSORS by their oaths. Since the MMA are owned / sponsored by means of an oath they need to first get released from the owner / sponsor through an agreement which can be verbal or written (And those who seek a contract (for the eventual emancipation) FROM what is owned (by) your oath then let them write for them if you know there is within them goodness and give them from the wealth of Allah which He has given you) and then the permission to marry the believer who has approached her/ sponsor for the same.

In 43 Allah has directly given the command to the guardians to marry the MMA in case the believer guardians fear of injustice to the orphans, but in the above verses the marriage to the MMA is conditional. A poor believer (bachelor) cannot marry a free believing woman until Allah enriches him and further if he does not have the power to wait and prolong the marrying of the free believing woman (the reason may be not remaining chaste until Allah enriches him) then he can marry MMA. Once a believer marries MMA then he cannot marry a free believing woman because his marriage with MMA was only because he could not marry the free believing woman. Only if he (justifiably) divorces the MMA then he can marry a free believing woman, Therefore 43 is not marrying other women but marrying off the matured female orphans.

By marrying an MMA will the common believer or a guardian believer render justice to the ORPHANS?

One more thing should be noted that the MMA who are poor and solitary women and are working in the homes, are not for sexual purpose but they are a liability of those people who have sponsored them by their oaths and it is their responsibility to marry off them and that is the reason Allah has commanded that if it is not possible for the guardians to marry off the matured female orphans in twos and threes and fours then he should marry off one matured female orphan or MMA (who should also be matured). In addition Allah has instructed the rich sponsors to give something to the MMA from the wealth which HE has given to him, at the time of their release (2433). Read more about MMA in my next article. \

READ, How Hadith has explained verse 43, (For entertainment purpose only)

    (And if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry (other) women of your choice, two) Allah commands, when one of you is the caretaker of a female orphan and he fears that he might not give her a dowry that is suitable for women of her status, he should marry other women, who are plenty as Allah has not restricted him. Al-Bukhari recorded that `A'ishah said, "A man was taking care of a female orphan and he married her, although he did not desire to marry her. That girl's money was mixed with his, and he was keeping her portion from her. Afterwards, this Ayah was revealed about his case;

Where is the FEAR of INJUSTICE in the above explanation? Either you pay dowry and get married or forget it. For not marrying an orphan a guardian is allowed to marry four women? WHAT JUSTIFICATION IS THIS? What about those believers who do not have ORPHANS under their guardianship? Should they also marry up to four women?

Afterwards, this Ayah was revealed about his case; Does Allah needs incidents to happen to reveal His commandments?

(If you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly)'' Al-Bukhari recorded that Urwah bin Az-Zubayr said that he asked A'ishah about the meaning of the statement of Allah,

(If you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphan girls.) She said, "O my nephew! This is about the orphan girl who lives with her guardian and shares his property. Her wealth and beauty may tempt him to marry her without giving her an adequate dowry which might have been given by another suitor. So, such guardians were forbidden to marry such orphan girls unless they treated them justly and gave them the most suitable dowry; otherwise they were ordered to marry woman besides them.'' `A'ishah further said, "After that verse, the people again asked the Messenger of Allah (about marriage with orphan girls), so Allah revealed the Ayah,

(They ask your instruction concerning the women..) 4127.'' She said, "Allah's statement in this Ayah,
(yet whom you desire to marry) 4127 refers to the guardian who does not desire to marry an orphan girl under his supervision because she is neither wealthy nor beautiful. The guardians were forbidden to marry their orphan girls possessing property and beauty without being just to them, as they generally refrain from marrying them (when they are neither beautiful nor wealthy).''

Have you ever come across a verse which says that the guardians cannot marry those orphans who are wealthy and beautiful unless they deal them justly?

(two or three, or four), means, marry as many women as you like, other than the orphan girls, two, three or four. We should mention that Allah's statement in another Ayah,
(Who made the angels messengers with wings, - two or three or four) 351, does not mean that other angels do not have more than four wings, as there are proofs that some angels do have more wings. Yet, men are prohibited from marrying more than four wives, as the Ayah decrees, since the Ayah specifies what men are allowed of wives, as Ibn Abbas and the majority of scholars stated. If it were allowed for them to have more than four wives, the Ayah would have mentioned it. Imam Ahmad recorded that Salim said that his father said that Ghilan bin Salamah Ath-Thaqafi had ten wives when he became Muslim, and the Prophet said to him, "Choose any four of them (and divorce the rest).'' During the reign of Umar, Ghilan divorced his remaining wives and divided his money between his children. When Umar heard news of this, he said to Ghilan, "I think that the devil has conveyed to your heart the news of your imminent death, from what the devil hears during his eavesdropping. It may as well be that you will not remain alive but for a little longer. By Allah! You will take back your wives and your money, or I will take possession of this all and will order that your grave be stoned as is the case with the grave of Abu Righal (from Thamud, who was saved from their fate because he was in the Sacred Area. But, when he left it, he was tormented like they were).'' Ash-Shafii, At-Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah, Ad-Daraqutni and Al-Bayhaqi collected this Hadith up to the Prophet's statement, "Choose any four of them.'' Only Ahmad collected the full version of this Hadith. Therefore, had it been allowed for men to marry more than four women at the same time, the Prophet would have allowed Ghilan to keep more than four of his wives since they all embraced Islam with him. When the Prophet commanded him to keep just four of them and divorce the rest, this indicated that men are not allowed to keep more than four wives at a time under any circumstances. If this is the case concerning those who already had more than four wives upon embracing Islam, then this ruling applies even more so to marrying more than four.
Where does Allah say that you can keep maximum four wives? From where did the idiot Bukhari got this story?
(But if you fear that you will not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one or what your right hands possess.) The Ayah commands, if you fear that you will not be able to do justice between your wives by marrying more than one, then marry only one wife, or satisfy yourself with only female captives, for it is not obligatory to treat them equally, rather it is recommended. So if one does so, that is good, and if not, there is no harm on him. In another Ayah, Allah said,
for it is not obligatory to treat them equally

What more proof do the followers of Hadith need that the writers of hadith are anti Quran? Allah has ordered fair treatment between mankind but these idiots say it is not obligatory for the believers to treat the MMA equally.

How do these idiots know in advance that they will do injustice to the women? Are they magicians or god? What is SATISFY YOURSELF WITH ONE FEMALE CAPTIVES? In today?s world FEMALE CAPTIVES are not available then what should that chauvinist guardian do?

Why should the guardian opt for MMA when there are plenty of free believing women to marry?

I thank the Hadith writers for their fantastic, bullshit, idiotic, illogical, explanation of verse 43. Had these idiots not made effort to write Hadith we Muslims would have gone astray?

    Thanks

    Salamun Alaikum, Hafeez!

I think you may be "right", I'm not that strong in Arabic. So, how sure are you that your translation is the right one? There are many translations OF 43 and all translatons are "almost the same" and some may differ. But, yours is quite different! So, how sure are you? And can you really prove that your translation is THE RIGHT ONE??

To see all the translations of 43 an-Nisa` 43

And honestly, I don't know if your translation is right, Allahu 'Alam! But, it honestly made alot of sense! But, if you can prove that your translation is THE RIGHT ONE. I will believe in it!

Peace Ijaz

Men do not marry men but when the translators assume ANKIHU as MARRY then the literal meaning of the verse coveys that men also marry men. It is but natural that men marry women so there is no point of placing MIN AN NISSA ( AMONG THE WOMEN) in the verse. if it is marrying then there should be no NISSA in the verse. I pointed out the distortion the translators committed. NISSA in the verse changed the whole meaning of the verse and the hypothesis of polygamists falls flat on their faces

    Questions/Comments on the Quran

  • POLYGAMY A BLOT ON MUSLIMS
    I IjazAhmad

    Peace all

    POLYGAMY A BLOT ON MUSLIMS

    (REFUTATION PART ONE)

And if you fear that you cannot act equitably towards orphans, then marry such women as seem good to you / Marry women of your choice / then marry those that please you of women / then marry such as please you, of other Women two and three and four; but if you fear that you will not do justice (between them), then (marry) only one or what your right hands possess; this is more proper, that you may not deviate from the right course.43

According to the followers of Hadith the above verse gives the permission to men to marry four women and at any given time they can have four wives and not more than that. But before accepting their hypothesis we need to cross- check with the Quran and find out whether the said verse do really allow four wives or we are simply misguided.

Firstly I will refute the interpretation of the proponents of polygamy and then I will give my own version in detail which will open your eyes and you will awake you from the zombie sleep.

A guardian when he fears that he will do injustice to the orphans then in that case to avoid injustice to the orphans he should marry two, three or four other women according to his capacity, but if he fears that he will not be justly with the two to four wives then he should opt for one Other woman or satisfy himself with one MMA, by doing this he will not deviate from the right course.

The reason / purpose / intention to marry two, three or four women, is to avoid injustice to orphans. Therefore the condition to marry two, three or four women is the guardianship of the orphans and the fear of injustice to them. If you do not have orphans under your guardianship, and if you do not fear of injustice to orphans, then you cannot marry two, three or four women. This is the most simplest and clear interpretation of the verse. Without guardianship of orphans and without fear of injustice it is haram to marry more than one woman. It is not a straight forward command to all believers to marry two, three or four women.

O ye who believe! Ye are forbidden to inherit women against their will?. 419

And (O ye who believe) do not marry those whom your fathers married?. 422

(O ye who believe) Prohibited to you are your mothers, your daughters, your sisters, your father's sisters, your mother's sisters, your brother's daughters, your sister's daughters, your mothers who nursed you, your sisters through nursing, your wives' mothers, and your step-daughters under your guardianship of your wives unto whom you have gone in. But if you have not gone in unto them, there is no sin upon you. And the wives of your sons who are from your loins, and that you take two sisters simultaneously, except for what has already occurred. Indeed, Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful. 423

All the above commands (PROHIBITIONS OF MARRIAGE) are crystal clear and all commands are directly addressed to the believers, unlike verse 43 which is not crystal clear in its message for men to marry four women and neither is it directly addressed to the believers.

And marry the unmarried / single among you and the righteous among your male slaves and female slaves. If they should be poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty, and Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing. (An-Noor 32)

Do you know that the above verse is also distorted?

And marry the unmarried / single among you the AYAAMA are females and those who will marry them are males and the verse further continues, ?AND the righteous among the male slaves and the female slaves? the audience of the first command to marry female single/unmarried are males and the further command to marry male and female slaves are also addressed to the first audience, therefore how is it possible for men to marry male slaves.

Allah is talking about poor people, and the male servants and the female servants are guaranteed poor, but what is the guarantee that the single/unmarried women are poor?

Actually they are neither single nor unmarried but they are WIDOWS who are poor

= your male servants your female servants (housemaids)

The actual translation is? And MARRY OFF the WIDOWS among you and the righteous among your MALE SERVANTS and FEMALE SERVANTS. If THEY should be POOR, Allah will enrich THEM from His bounty, and Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing

Because the conspirators translated ANKIHU in verse 43 as marry, they had to translate ANKIHU in the above verse as marry but they forgot about MALE SERVANTS.

Allah will never enforce His wills on His subjects. All are His creations then why He will give preference to one over other, for Him rich or poor, male or female, beautiful or ugly all are same, yes, but He will always instruct you to help the needy, the orphans, the poor, the widows, the MMA, the male servants, the female servants, the freeing of slaves, the travellers. Helping and marrying off the orphans, widows, MMA, male servants and female servants is a righteous deed, and is a responsibility of the believers as an individual and as a member of the society, and it is for this purpose that we are sent to this world. Otherwise animals and birds are also there who live for themselves. We have read the Quran may be a thousand times, but still we have not properly understood who the orphans are.

Now within this verse there are umpteenth questions which needs answers

The first question How problem of A is solved by marrying B or C.

Let me explain you in simple language by rephrasing verse 43

And if you fear that you cannot act equitably towards (AMERICAN) orphans, then marry such women as seem good to you / Marry women of your choice / then marry those that please you of women / then marry such as please you, of other (BRITISH) Women two or three and four; but if you fear that you will not do justice (between them), then (marry) only one (BRITISH WOMEN) or what your right hands possess (CHINESE) this is more proper, that you may not deviate from the right course.43

The orphans are AMERICANS, the OTHER four women are BRITISH and the MMA are CHINESE. Now explain me how the marrying of BRITISH women and CHINESE women could, avoid injustice to AMERICAN orphans? Without knowing the exact reason of injustice how could one find a solution of that? If I am doing injustice to one orphan named Maryam and if I want to avoid injustice to her, then what should I do, Should I marry a free believing woman named Aisha? Will my marriage to Aisha avoid injustice to Maryam? If marriage to Aisha can deliver justice to Maryam then why I need to marry, Jamila, Humaira, Sakina and pause.

The proponents of polygamy should explain how they will solve the problem of injustice to orphans by way of marrying other women? They should identify the cause of injustice. Forget the numbers two, three or four.

The second question the omission of preposition (MIN) from the translation.

Why all translators ignored/ neglected MIN from their translation?

then marry those that seem good to you/ please you / of your choice OF / FROM /AMONG women

The likely interpretation of the above is that men marry men also, that is why Allah has mentioned OF / FROM /AMOMG women. Some translators, to avoid the confusion, inserted OTHER in the verse, thereby sending a message that these OTHER women are not the female orphans from the group of orphans. My question is why they inserted ?OTHER? when there is no Arabic word in the verse? Why they want to distort the clear message of the verse by inserting the unwarranted word?

What is their explanation of MIN AN NISSA?

among the ignorant, among mankind, among the righteous, among the doubters, among the losers, among the people of the Book, among men, women and children,

So according to me it should be ?then marry such as seem good to you FROM / AMOMG THE WOMEN (it means men also marry men)

The third question (it is logical as well as intelligent)

And if you fear that you cannot act equitably towards orphans, then marry such women as seem good to you / Marry women of your choice / then marry those that please you of women / then marry such as please you, of other Women TWO OR THREE OR FOUR.

To avoid injustice to the orphans the guardians need to marry only OTHER women, but why they need to marry TWO OR THREE OR FOUR. Is it not possible to marry one and avoid injustice to the orphans? Are they playing a number game? WHY marrying one woman cannot render justice to the orphans and HOW two, three and four women can render justice to the orphans? Let the supporters of polygamy answer this question.

Anyway, the numbers required for marrying other women to avoid injustice to the orphans is minimum two and maximum four. As these are the words of Allah they should be perfect and cannot be changed.

but if you fear that you will not do justice (between them), then (marry) only one or what your right hands possess; this is more proper, that you may not deviate from the right course.

Now Allah has changed the minimum requirement of other women to ONE which previously was TWO. Allah also changed the category/class of the women from free believing women to believing MMA. By marrying ONE other woman or marrying one MMA if the justice is rendered to the orphans, then why in the first place, Allah commanded the guardians to marry two to four women, thereby increasing their marriage expenses. Do you believe that Allah will ever change His command?

Alif, Lam, Ra. a Book whose verses are perfected and then presented in detail from Wise and Acquainted 111

The verses are first perfected and then presented but this verse contradicts the verse 43. But it is not possible that the Quran can ever contradict itself like Hadith, therefore it contradicts only because the interpretation of marrying four women is wrong. You will find no contradictions, no change in the numbers of women if your interpretation is perfect.

The purpose / reason / intention of marrying two to four women, was to avoid injustice to the orphans, and not for sexual purpose. But the sudden switch in the command to marry one or MMA, it becomes personal and the purpose/reason/intention of reducing the number or marrying MMA now focusses on avoiding injustice to the two, three or four women (not yet married them) instead of focussing on avoiding injustice to the orphans. Why the focus of avoiding injustice shifted from the orphans to the wives?

    The fourth question

Such women as seem good to you / Marry women of your choice / then marry those that please you of women / then marry such as please you, of other Women

What do the translators mean by ?Such as seems good to you?? Is it that men do marry women who do not seem good to them?

What do the translators mean by ?Marry women of your choice?? Is it that men do not marry women of their choice?

What do the translators mean by ?marry such as please you?? What method should be applied to know which women please and which women displeases.

Did you not attain maturity so that you decide whom to marry? Are you a baby so that Allah will hold your hands and teach you how to walk? Do you need Allah to teach you each and everything, if it is so then why HE did not mention the complexion of the women (white/fair/black)?

in the above verse Maa taaba lakum is ?those agreeable to you?

that you may not deviate from the right course. / Thus it is more likely that ye will not do injustice / That is more suitable that you may not incline ./ that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice.

By marrying only one woman or MMA the guardian is prevented from doing injustice to the (future) wives, but at the same time he is doing injustice to the orphans because to avoid injustice to them he was supposed to marry two, three or four women. Do the proponents of polygamy have any answer to this interpretation?

It is the fear of injustice to orphans that forces the guardians to marry from two to four women and it is the fear of being unjust to the two to four women that forces the guardians to marry only one woman, but what is the fear that forces them to marry MMA? Why marriage to MMA is mandatory? Is MMA a vitamin B12 complex that can be taken by anyone to overcome weakness? Will a marriage with MMA, who does not have any link to the orphans will avoid injustice to the orphans?

The fifth question to whom this verse is addressed and to whom it is related?

According to hadith and the proponents of polygamy this verse is addressed to the guardian believers and if it is so then why all believers are marrying four women without orphans under their guardianship? The main reason of marrying two, three or four is to avoid injustice to the orphans, then ask those thousands of Muslims, who have married more than one woman, to how many orphans they have rendered justice? Should I marry Maryam to avoid injustice to Aisha? Let the supporters of hadith prove that all believers can marry up to four women.

The sixth question why distorting the meaning of Muthna (twos), Thulaath (threes) and Ruba? (fours)

A second standard child (of Arabic medium school) knows that are two, three, four and are in/by twos, threes, fours then why the translators translated these words as two, three and four. I believe that the only intention behind this is to legitimize the four wives at a time for men.

Say, "I only advise you of one - that you stand for Allah, in PAIRS / TWOS and individually, and then give thought." There is not in your companion any madness. He is only a warner to you before a severe punishment. 3446

Do you know why they distorted the count?

The reason is crystal clear, if they translate it as twos or threes or fours, then the Muslims need to marry two women at a time, three women at a time or four women at a time, and marrying two, three or four women at a time is next to impossible, so to avoid the confusion that will be created in the minds of the readers after reading this nonsense they played a dirty trick with the count and distorted it to suit their hypothesis of four marriages and the shameless, so called, scholars accepted it blindly, never protested never investigated, and forwarded it to the next generation.

The following reading will shake you like tremors shake mankind and buildings

What did the conspirators think that their conspiracy will never be exposed? Will Allah not expose them?

So woe to those who write the "scripture" with their own hands, then say, "This is from Allah," in order to exchange it for a small price. Woe to them for what their hands have written and woe to them for what they earn. 279

If you fear, (a future tense) (FEAR not explained) pray on foot, or riding, but when ye are in security, celebrate Allah's praises in the manner He has taught you, which ye knew not (before). (2 239)

If you fear (a future tense), (fear is not explained) and the command that follows is to pray on FOOT or RIDING. In clear words it is not a command to PRAY on FOOT or RIDING but to pray on foot or riding ONLY when there is a FEAR (of unexplained), otherwise the believers cannot PRAY on FOOT or RIDING but STANDING. Is it clear?

If you fear a breach between them twain, appoint (two) arbiters, one from his family, and the other from hers; if they wish for peace, Allah will cause their reconciliation For Allah hath full knowledge, and is acquainted with all things. (4 35)

If you fear (a future tense), (fear breach between them) and the command that follows is to appoint arbiters to maintain peace. In clear words it is not a command to appoint arbiters but ONLY when there is a FEAR of breach between them otherwise you cannot appoint arbiters. Is it clear?

When ye travel through the earth, there is no blame on you if you shorten your prayers, if you fear that the Unbelievers May persecute you For the Unbelievers are unto you open enemies. (4 101)

If you fear (a future tense), (fear Disbelievers may persecute) and the command that follows is to SHORTEN the PRAYER. In clear words it is not a command to SHORTEN the PRAYER but to shorten ONLY when there is a FEAR of the unknown enemy, otherwise the prayers have to be offered, as offered normally in peace. Is it clear?

43 is not different from the above three verses but it is exactly in the same format

And if you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphans then marry those that please you of women, two or three or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then one or those your right hand possesses. That is more suitable that you may not incline . (4 3)

If you fear (a future tense) (fear injustice to orphans) and the command that follows is to marry up to four women of your choice or MMA. In clear words it is not a command to marry four wives but to marry four wives ONLY when there is a FEAR that you may do injustice to the orphans otherwise you cannot marry four wives. It is as simple as that.

After reading the above verses and its interpretations, is there anyone who can say that 43 is a general and open command to the believers to marry two, three or four women or MMA.

    More tremors to follow

    To be continued?..

    Thanks

Well! Isn't it enough that we know the Prophet made something forbidden which the God had made permissible? This ayat is enough to tell us that the Prophet could not make things halal and haram. He did it in 661 and got corrected by the God.

Now, even if it's a toxic drink or something else, doesn't matter! This is what happened 1400 years ago and it was between the God and his messenger. Some parts of the Qur'an are solely for the Messenger. Questions/Comments on the Quran

  • Sex with captives/slaves - Permissible?
    I IjazAhmad

The Quran only allowed two options for prisoners of war. Freedom or ransom. The verses about MMA has nothing to do with prisoners of war.

As far as MMA is concerned, MMA is what we call a concubine. Many prophets in the Old Testament had concubines as well as wives.

The only difference is concubines have no dowry arrangements and is considered an inferior form of marriage for that reason. When the believers came to Medina they came across a larger Jewish presense there and the practice of concubinage (urfi marriage in Arabic) was prevalent. Its an acceptable form of arrangement but the Quran does not advice that form of relationship since its open for abuse.

Later Islamic authorities changed its meaning to mean prisoners of war.

    In the Bible

Among the Israelites, men commonly acknowledged their concubines, and such women enjoyed the same rights in the house as legitimate wives.

The concubine may not have commanded the same respect and inviolability as the wife. In the Levitical rules on sexual relations, the Hebrew word that is commonly translated as "wife" is distinct from the Hebrew word that means "concubine". However, on at least one other occasion the term is used to refer to a woman who is not a wife - specifically, the handmaiden of Jacob's wife. In the Levitical code, sexual intercourse between a man and a wife of a different man was forbidden and punishable by death for both persons involved. The Bible notes several incidents of intercourse between a man and another man's concubine, and (rape excepted) none of them resulted in capital punishment for either party, although the man to whom the concubine belonged was dishonored by such a relationship. For instance, Jacob is dishonoured when his son Reuben sleeps with his concubine Bilhah but the consequence is that Reuben is disgraced and cut out of the genealogical line. David is portrayed as having been dishonored when his son Absalom deliberately has public sex with all his father's concubines on the roof of the palace, on the advice of David's former counsellor Ahithophel. Absalom does this not just as an act of sexual potency but to show the nation that everything David had is now his, that he is the king and in total command and that David is disgraced, exiled and not coming back.

Because it was regarded as the highest blessing to have many children, legitimate wives often gave their maids to their husbands to atone, at least in part, if they were barren, as in the cases of Sarah and Hagar, and Rachel and Bilhah. The children of the concubine often had equal rights with those of the legitimate wife; for example, King Abimelech was the son of Gideon and his concubine. However, Abraham's actions in allowing his wife Sarah to drive his concubine Hagar away and in sending all the sons of his concubines away with gifts, rather than allowing them to stay and have an equal inheritance with his son Isaac, indicates that he saw them as inferior to Isaac, who had been promised to him and was Sarah's child. Later biblical figures such as Gideon, and Solomon had concubines in addition to many childbearing wives. For example, the Books of Kings say that Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines.

The disturbing account of the unnamed Levite shows that the taking of concubines was not the exclusive preserve of Kings or patriarchs in Israel during the time of the Judges and that the rape of a concubine was completely unacceptable to the Israelite nation and led to a civil war. In the story, the Levite appears to be an ordinary member of the tribe dedicated to the worship of God, who was undoubtedly dishonoured both by the unfaithfulness of his concubine and her abandonment of him. However, after four months, he decides to follow her back to her family home to persuade her to return to him. Her father seeks to delay his return and he does not leave early enough to make the return journey in a single day. The hospitality he is offered at Gibeah, the way in which his host's daughter is offered to the townsmen and the circumstances of his concubine's death at their hands describe a lawless time where visitors are both welcomed and threatened in equal measure. The most disturbing aspect of this account is that both the Levite and his (male) host seek to protect themselves by offering their womenfolk to their aggressors for sex, in exchange for their own safety. The Levite acts in a way which indicates that he believes that the multiple rape of his unfaithful concubine is preferable to the violation of the virginity of his host's daughter or a sexual assault on his own person. In the morning, the Levite appears to be quite indifferent to the condition of his concubine and expects her to resume the journey but she is dead. He dismembers her body and distributes her (body parts) throughout the nation of Israel as a terrible message. This outrages and revolts the Israelite tribesmen who then wreak total retribution on the men of Gibeah and the surrounding tribe of Benjamin when they support them, killing them without mercy and burning all their towns. The inhabitants of (the town of) Jabesh Gilead are then slaughtered as a punishment for not joining the eleven tribes in their war against the Benjamites and their four hundred unmarried daughters given in forced marriage to the six hundred Benjamite survivors. Finally, the two hundred Benjamite survivors who still have no wives are granted a mass marriage by abduction by the other tribes.

There are no concubines in the New Testament. St Paul emphasises that church leaders should be in monogamous marriages, that believers should not have sexual relationships outside marriage. and that unmarried believers should be celibate. Marriage is to reflect the exclusive relationship between the husband (Christ) and wife (his church), described as a "mystery".
    In Judaism

In Judaism, concubines are referred to by the Hebrew term pilegesh. The term is a non-Hebrew, non-Semitic loanword derived from the Greek word, pallakis, Greek , meaning "a mistress staying in house".

According to the Babylonian Talmud, the difference between a concubine and a full wife was that the latter received a marriage contract (Hebrewketubah) and her marriage (nissu'in) was preceded by a formal betrothal (erusin). Neither was the case for a concubine. One opinion in the Jerusalem Talmud argues that the concubine should also receive a marriage contract, but without a clause specifying a divorce settlement.

Certain Jewish thinkers, such as Maimonides, believed that concubines were strictly reserved for kings, and thus that a commoner may not have a concubine. Indeed, such thinkers argued that commoners may not engage in any type of sexual relations outside of a marriage.

Maimonides was not the first Jewish thinker to criticise concubinage. For example, Leviticus Rabbah severely condemns the custom. Other Jewish thinkers, such as Nahmanides, Samuel ben Uri Shraga Phoebus, and Jacob Emden, strongly objected to the idea that concubines should be forbidden.

    http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concubinage

Its important to understand that MMA is primarily a Judaic. Western societies understood concubinage differently. Only Islamic authorities attached it to slavery and prisoners of war. But what is important is the Quranic use of the term which is based on its biblical understanding.

When the Quran says "ma malakat aymanukum" meaning what you possessed by oath, it means a relationship established by oath only without dowry or financial arrangement and encourages to elevate that arrangement to a full marriage by establishing a dowry and financial arrangement and also informing family members. This happens many times in urfi marriages where the man denies ever having relationship with a women and tears off the contract he had with her.

Nikah 'urfi is a "customary" Sunni Muslim marriage contract that is not registered with state authorities. This form of marriage usually requires witnesses. Couples repeat the words, "We got married" and pledge commitment before God, although there are many other informal ways in which people marry `urfi. Usually a paper, stating that the two are married, is written and at least two witnesses sign it, although others may record their commitment on a cassette tape and use other forms of documentation. Most Arab countries do not recognize 'Urfi marriages and do not allow partners to get a 'legal' divorce since the government does not recognize the legality of the marriage in the first place. Sometimes these relationships are a way for people to have sex with each other within what is perceived to be a licit framework. Nevertheless, the relationship is often kept secret from family members and women often become pregnant but are unable to prove they are married or get a divorce.

The 'Urfi marriage has always existed, but for different reasons.

In the past, it was common among the widows of soldiers who had huge pensions and they did not want to lose it by officially re-marrying. Now, however, it is mostly among university students and young couples who cannot afford the high cost of marriage.

Undocumented 'Urfi marriages are increasingly popular among Egyptian youth. The high cost of marriage forces many young couples to wait several years before they marry. Conservative Egyptian society forbids sex before marriage, so many young people consider the 'Urfi marriage a solution. 'Urfi marriages are conducted by a Muslim cleric in the presence of two witnesses. However, they are not officially registered and are not legally financially binding on the man. Couples married in this way often meet in secret and avoid the expense of renting an apartment. The 'Urfi marriage can be disastrous for the wife in legal terms. If the husband leaves her without granting her a divorce, she had no legal right to seek a divorce since 'Urfi marriage is considered illegal. Her husband could remarry. The wife is in a more difficult position. If the wife remarries, she can be accused of polyandry, which is punishable by seven years in prison in Egypt, or she could remain single for the rest of her life.

The new Egyptian law (passed in 2000) recognizes the woman's right to seek divorce from an 'Urfi marriage. However, the law denies her alimony and child support.

There are also controversial, unofficial "'Urfi" marriages, where a couple signs documents declaring themselves married. The couple does not inform their families of the marriage. Many Egyptian clerics are against this type of 'Urfi marriage calling it a cover for pre-marital sex.

An extreme form of 'Urfi marriage is known as zawag al-'urfi to give prostitution an Islamic cover, some women enter into secret marriage contracts with their summer visitors. Known in Egypt as zawag al-'urfi, this contract is made without witnesses and typically ends in divorce by summer's end. Most of Egypt's Islamic scholars condemn this use of zawag al-'urfi.

It has nothing to do with slavery or prisoners of war. Slavery is a barbaric act practiced by the Pharaoh in the Quran and Joseph's brothers and sex with female slaves is rape and nothing else and prisoners of war are already discussed in the Quran.

    Really good answer! bravo

    Greetings and Peace, all group

I find the Guidance to be timeless; it doesn't matter when the Qur'an was revealed...it doesn't influence the Deen one whit. The Protection of the Almighty is the best protection, and the Almighty Protects the Qur'an. Meanings of words can and do change, fortunately, most all of the words (or their roots) are found in different places in AQ. This means that AQ itself can be used to verify meanings. In terms of intent

226 GOD does not shy away from putting forth the example of a mosquito, or anything above it. As for those who believe, they know that it is the truth from their Lord. As for the rejecters, they say "What does GOD intend with this example?" He strays many by it, and He guides many by it; but He only strays by it the wicked.

6115 And the word of your Lord has been completed with truth and justice; there is no changing His words. He is the Hearer, the Knower.

3918 The ones who listen to what is being said, and then follow the best of it. These are the ones whom GOD has guided, and these are the ones who possess intelligence.

4458 We have thus made it easy in your language, perhaps they may take heed.

Having answered the above questions, I would pose a few to those who follow tradition.

If you truly take the Guidance of the Qur'an over extra-Qur'anic hadith, how do you reconcile following

6114 "Shall I seek other than GOD as a judge when He has sent down to you the Book fully detailed?" Those to whom We have given the Book know it is sent down from your Lord with the truth; so do not be of those who have doubt.

6115 And the word of your Lord has been completed with truth and justice; there is no changing His words. He is the Hearer, the Knower.

7185 Have they not looked at the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that GOD has created? Perhaps their time is drawing near; so in which narrative after this one will they believe?

1689 And the Day We send to every nation a witness against them from themselves, and We have brought you as a witness against these. And We have sent down to you the Book as a clarification for all things, and a guidance and a mercy and good tidings to those who have submitted.

2530 And the messenger said "My Lord, my people have deserted this Qur'an."

2951 Is it not enough for them that We have sent down to you the Book that is being recited to them? In that is a mercy and a reminder for people who believe.

316 And from the people, there are those who will purchase a baseless narrative with which to mislead from the path of GOD without knowledge, and to make it a mockery. These will have a humiliating retribution.

To recap the Qur'an states that it is complete, fully detailed, a clarification for all things, without contradiction, without change in meaning, and enough for a believer. Any "Yes, but..." statements fall flat. Those who follow extra-Qur'anic hadith follow the ways of men instead of Guidance.

2170 And if they are told "Follow what GOD has sent down," they say "No, we will follow what we found our fathers doing!" What if their fathers did not comprehend anything and were not guided?

To follow extra-Qur'anic hadith, one must first reject the Qur'an.

May ALLAH see fit to Guide all seekers.

    peace

    Salam, Brother!

Thank you! May Allah bless you!

Can you please comment on this if you can

Then follow your advice and reject
all knowledge of the Arabic language which Quran needs in order for people to understand it.
This is because language is preserved in lexicons, dictionaries,
writings, and memories all transmitted and authored by men.
Likewise you must reject the very
"history" which caused you to come to your conclusions, for it too
is "merely the sayings, interpretations, and teaching of men",-lastly you must reject all of
    your own conclusions from Quran.
Since your own conclusions are merely sayings, interpretations and teaching from yourself- a fallible man".

  • Sex with captives/slaves - Permissible?
    I IjazAhmad

Step back a bit, even having slaves or having another human being as one property is an EVIL act. brickwall
Why? Because it's unjust and an act of oppression.
Why it's unjust? Change the perspective, what if YOU are the slave? Would you like to be treated as property?

Now let's addresses the FORCED SEX / RAPING act.
Raping another human or animal is an evil act.
Why? Because it's unjust and an act of oppression.
Why it's unjust? Change the perspective, Would you like to be raped?

This is among the key evidence to prove that Islamism is a sick and mentally retarded ideology invented by a military and political institution / the caliphate.

    Tell your hadith follower friend.
If having FORCED SEX / RAPING captives and slaves is an honorable/allowable act.
Then mentioned the cases that happened in Guantanamo and Abu Ghraib, what's his/her opinion about it?

    Salam / Peace

    Salaamun Alaikum!

I asked him if your mother or your sister got raped what will you do? He said he would be angry! But.. He said that Allah have made it permissible to have sex with female captives caught during a war. It makes me sick! These so called Muslims are nasty idiots.

Why would Allah - The most merciful allow such thing? And why do they think that Allah did allow such a thing? I need to vomit!

Nowhere in the Qur'an does it say"O you who have believed, rape the female captives" (Astaghfirullah). This is why Muslims countries are backward and are getting attacked. These fools follow something else! brickwall brickwall brickwall brickwall

They say a Muslim man can marry four wives but he can also have concubines as well as sex with female captives. Damn.. These people are extremists!

    May Allah guide us all!

    Peace,
    Ijaz
