I added some more things... buttons to navigate versions, verses in spans, and one to close the tooltip. also added support for arrow keys to move the tooltip itself around, and you can use ALT and CTRL keys to speed it up a bit.

The changes were mainly to add support for reference spans, in the form of 11-7, but required some changes to the way the extension works.

• To close tooltip, click on the verse text.
• To move to next verse in a span series, click on the ref, the verse number.
• To move to the next version of the text of the same verse, click the version name.

Brother Wakas had me started on this idea, and I have been playing with it and it seems to be working...

Please try it out and let me know if it works for you and what bugs you find...

• To install, open this link with Firefox http//74.220.202.36/~lrhazico/q/QuranRefsFinder.xpi
  after installing and restarting Firefox

• Go to a webpage that discusses Quran, such as http//free-minds.org/

• When the page has loaded, click the extension icon, which for now is a little magnifying glass.

• All Quran refs in the form xy should be detected and a yellow border drawn around them.

• As the text of the verses is being loaded in the background, the refs will get a yellow background.

• Hover over one of the highlighted references and a white on black popup should appear with the Arabic text of the verse.

• Double click the popup to cycle through the available versions of the text.

• Single click to close the popup.

There is more to it than knowing the language. and there is more to the story of Adam than a verse here and a verse there. One needs to study all of them together, and for certain keywords, study all other verses that use those keywords....

This is the story of the origin of man, part of the story of the origin of the Universe, and I do believe it is possible for us to understand it. The Quran can be used for hints, but the study of the earth itself and the life forms dwelling on it should suffice as well

Yes. that is very much how I currently understand the Adam story verses, though I tend to see Adam and Eve as representing mankind at a specific stage in human evolution.

In the hereafter, I believe, we shall all be back... in a new Universe, one with laws that allow and account for the new features therein displayed, such as eternity.
1448 The Day the Earth is replaced with another Earth, as are the heavens, and they will appear before God, the One, the Irresistible.

The Janna of reward will "take place" in that Universe.

Yes it is the same word but what is referred to is not. sometimes janna is referring to an earthly garden, sometime it refers to the eternal one. and one can tell which is being referred to from the context. For example in chapter 1832 and the next few verses, it is clear that the word janna is not referring to the next world's, eternal garden. Instead it is a talking about a janna, and even two of them.... gardens.

Other verses talk about janna as being the promised garden, and describe life in it as being eternal.

The two concepts have things in common... but they surely are not the same. There is food in both gardens, there is satisfaction to be found in both... etc. But one of them is vastly superior.

Adam's janna is described, it seems, in pretty modest way in 22117,118,119
22117 "You will have in it that you will not go hungry nor need clothes."
22118 "And you will have in it that you will not go thirsty nor suffer from heat."

That could well describe some kind of tropical forest, with a lot of shade and with abundant food and fresh water. then Satan will case him to leave this paradisaic life to a more tougher one 20117, the next step in Man's evolution....

You are correct and I was wrong. I am writing without looking things up.
The argument is that "the janna" mentioned in Adam context is really an earthly one. It sounds and feels very much like other "janna"/gardens described elsewhere in Quran where the context clearly is about earthly things. It does not sound like "The Janna" of eternal reward.

Well, the term heaven in Adam story, I believe, is janna, not al-janna, and janna is used elsewhere in the Quran clearly to mean earthly garden.
so it is possible to infer that Adam lived in some kind of garden, forest area before being ordered/made to leave to a more desertic region.

You can sepecify the expression your self using the following operators

and you can group words using parenthesis

So this expression ( jesus| mary) & !moses
would mean find all verses containing the word jesus or mary. but not moses

This might not be all working right now, I am stll developing some of the backend stuff... but you should be able to try few things....

All I want right now is 2 things, which one.

1. Pure, unbiased, and openminded discussion regarding the issue of using one definition for each word.

The method does not matter. Pick a method, the latest and greates in liniguistcs theories or compter-linguistics or whatever... apply to the Quran and see what you come up with.

What you come up with is what matters.... the better it is, the better your confidence in the methods you used.... later on, or generations later, they might come up with better methods....

One word, One definition.. hmm sounds cool. Tell me, what results did you/they reach with that?

Dr. Shahrour has a method based on "There are no synonyms in any human language" and his results are immpressive. I am currently invloved in an eefort to translate his fascinating book into English... maybe you ll get to read it someday )

Again, what matters at the end is YOU, what YOU think, what YOU did.... with all these methods, all this intelligence, all these tools and technologies, all these years, all this health....

You are furstrated because of the fact that there are too many ideas out there... too many paths... too many theories... I was and am often like that too... untill I remember that it does not matter att all..... I think about it this way sometimes, and it helps
