If so... when I utter those words to ALLAH, I am not merely "saying" anything, without having the right attitude and frame of mind.

I meditate on those words... and I MEAN them... totally relying on ALLAH to do all of the things that He instructs and advises me to do in Al-Fatihah. I am striving daily to do all that I do "In the name of ALLAH, the Beneficent, the Merciful"... all of my praises are to ALLAH, the Lord of the worlds... HE most certainly is the "Master of the day of Requital"... it most certainly IS ONLY HIM that I serve and ONLY HIM that I seek for MY HELP... I am COMPLETELY TRUSTING in HIM to "GUIDE me on the RIGHT PATH... The path of those upon whom HE hast bestowed favours, and NOT those upon whom wrath is brought down, NOR of those who go astray."

I am TOTALLY reliant on ALLAH ALONE for my journey to becoming the best Muslim that I can be, through my learning of the Qur'an... again, with HIS help! These words mean so much to me... and I do realize how important it is to both start and end my day with them.

I am so completely thankful to ALLAH for being the Creator and all of the other magnificent 99 names that HE IS! I have to learn each of those next. ;D

But, please... make no mistake... I don't just "say" those words... I absolutely mean them with every fiber of my being!

ALLAH is MOST WONDERFUL, MOST GRACIOUS, MOST MERCIFUL, ALL-KNOWING... and so much, much MORE!

Praise be to ALLAH!

I had no idea that you are new to the forum, as I am "new" as well. Well, if you consider less than a month new... uhhh... I think it's been less than a month, anyway confused.

Anyway... after reading your introduction, I must say, ALLAHU AKBAR!!! To hear that you grew up in the region that you did and with so much influence surrounding you... Allah must have specific plans for you to allow you to step out from under that. As your friend put it "COME ON... can they all be wrong?"... (sorry, I haven't yet used the quote function... so, this is my way, until I figure out how to use it... and I'm sure it's not complicated at all. I just haven't tried yet! offtopic <---- I know.), this is the thinking of many muslims. This is simply following "tradition" and conjecture... and not using your own mind and common sense to think. Also, the Qur'an needs no help... it is CLEAR, PERFECT, and COMPLETE! And that is where the first surah of it (the Qur'an) comes in. If one recognizes this OFTEN... not just through it's recitation... but also through meditation and being VERY mindful and aware of it's meaning... your TRUST and FAITH in ALLAH will most certainly help you in every way that you need, for it's understanding. One must first realize the importance of the first surah... and FOLLOW IT whole-heartedly before one can go any further in the Qur'an.

I personally believe that if you hold Al-Fatihah as near and dear to your heart... and if you recognize it for what ALLAH intends for you and you sincerely believe in it... you would not believe that you need other sources to help you to understand anything in the Qur'an, your mind will keep returning to Al-Fatihah!

Okay... I don't want to be the one to go on and on... but I'm glad that you are here to join us in our efforts to keep to the Straight Path.

Also, I do realize that you did quote the post of the person you posted this message for, but I just wanted to respond anyway. If you don't mind?

I just wanted to say... on behalf of myself and probably others... I personally don't have a problem at all with anyone who says "pbuh" after mentioning the Prophet's name... or any other Messenger (however, I do think that it's only fair to do this for ALL, if any... and not ONLY the Prophet Muhammed, because we are not to make any distinctions among them); however, I do have a problem with other Muslims becoming hostile with me or others if we choose NOT to say this. Just as we should not become irritated with those who choose TO say this... those who choose to, should not become irritated with those of us who DON'T.

I believe and TRUST in ALLAH, that if I AM to mention "pbuh" after each of the Messengers names, He allow me to find and understand His words as such... in other words, if HE is COMMANDING me to, then I most certainly will. But, if ALLAH is presenting it in the Qur'an as an option or a choice, then there may be times when I will... and times when I won't. But, again... if it is not a command from ALLAH, then I do not wish to be interrogated by other Muslims as to my "conduct" for not doing so.

I wish to serve ALLAH and allow Him to guide me to the Straight Path. I don't wish to follow men and "tradition" and get so caught up in things that are not commanded or advised by ALLAH... too much confusion there. (Ok... have to end it here ;D... getting sleepy! hypno) Again... thank you for the input, it was appreciated by me. I can't speak for others, but I'm sure that I'm not alone in my appreciation ).

That is exactly what I mean. Why waste my time going to a place that I know I will not be welcome before even going?

I know what many of their practices are and I also know that I don't agree. I also know that being a "beginner" they may mistake me for simply not understanding or knowing what or how to do, and earnestly try to instruct me; however, it will be to their disappointment, because it will be because I am a Qur'an ONLY Muslim.

I can already imagine the anger that they will have with me for "rejecting ALLAH and HIS Messenger"!!!

I can't imagine being jumped on and attacked with Qur'ans coming from all directions... at MY HEAD!

I'm sure they wouldn't even think of throwing their Hadiths at me... they're much too precious to waste on such a person as myself! >

I am very sorry to hear of your grief, but I can certainly understand.

First, I'd like to advise... NEVER abandon ALLAH and ISLAM for anyone or anything!

You were once a Christian, as you stated... and you abandoned that religion because of your heart and beliefs; which did not coincide with the religion itself. ALLAH led you to ISLAM, because of this correct thinking and believing... in the ONENESS of GOD (ALLAH); which IS ISLAM. You were a Muslim even while practicing Christianity, because you had already embraced the Message, the Way... the Path... straight to ALLAH!

I can not advise you in any way on the issue of divorce... only ALLAH knows best! Therefore, you must consult ALLAH's law concerning this matter... the Qur'an... and choose according to what will leave you in good standing with ALLAH.

We are to move away from anyone or anything that will come between us and ALLAH... He knows best!

Follow what is right... even if it goes against your FEELINGS, which are obviously VERY strong for your husband. But never abandon ISLAM because of your grief of a relationship with someone other than ALLAH.

ISLAM also means PEACE... and when you are in submission to ALLAH (ISLAM)... you are accepting PEACE and ALLAH for yourself. What is better than this?

Be the best Muslim that you can be for ALLAH... this should help you with your decision.

I don't think that anyone knows of ANY at this time. I have also inquired about one in my area, but I haven't been successful in finding an answer either (Tri-State are in USA).

I was just discussing this subject, because I was in a "submitters" (a Qur'an ALONE group) website who advises its readers to be involved in a Mosque for "proper" salaat guidance; however, the website, again, is Qur'an ALONE and also teaches against the "traditional" Shahada (they teach ONLY the 1st part and not that part of bearing witness about the Prophet Muhammad... as well as discouraging the "traditional" pbuh practice of addressing the Prophet). Having pointed this out... I'm wondering how they expect you to join any Mosque; which will CERTAINLY chastise you and eventually BAN you if you don't adhere to THEIR practices! Imagine reading ONLY the Qur'an and rejecting the Hadiths in their presence! &

Thank you for the correction "transliteration", in stead of "translation". I will be checking on that.

Also, I'd like to add for others whom are interested in this topic... and this is, again, ONLY my interpretation of this verse (3356)

Where it says (in the version of the Qur'an that I have), "... call for blessings on him..." - The Prophet is in need of no more blessings at this time, because he has reached the uttermost of any blessings. He is with ALLAH! He is TRULY blessed to the greatest degree of blessings! How then can we ask or call for any more blessings than that? He has no need for this... or for the call of peace to be upon him, because he has also attained the greatest gift of peace... again, he is with ALLAH! Can one ask for or call for, or request any more peace upon another than this? The PEACE, at its greatest, has already been established for the Prophet. This is why I believe that this verse was referring to believers that were in the PRESENCE of the Prophet, because at that time, he was still here (a human in the world) who could always benefit from the "call for blessings" or a "(becoming) salutation".

ONLY my interpretation... but my mind is very open for correction or more detailed interpretation or understanding.

Is there anyone who can translate the entire verse to arabic, but written so I can understand and look up translations myself? I can't read arabic writing. So, I'm not asking for it to be written in the Arabic language. Was that clear enough? Sorry, if I'm confusing anyone.

Like for example... "The Opening" is English, but translated in Arabic it is "Al-Fatihah"... but it's not WRITTEN in Arabic writing. Another example English - "Praise be to God, Lord of the worlds"... in Arabic, "Al-Hamdu lillah rabb al-AAalameen" <---- this may not be totally correct, I've seen different versions of it's translation (wondering how or why) but, nonetheless; I think you get my point.

Can anyone help me with this? I'm asking for the entire verse of surah 3356 to be translated as the examples above.

And, to clarify... I am not looking to be a "difficult" Muslim... I simply wish to do whatever ALLAH asks or commands of me, to be the BEST Muslim that I can be, according to ALLAH's laws and the Qur'an (ALLAH's Laws). I do not wish to be a "traditional" or "labeled" Muslim... or to be divided within the beautiful way of ISLAM. Therefore, I believe that the way to be on ONE accord is to stick to the Qur'an. That way... everyone is following ALLAH's Straight Path!

Thank you for pointing out that verse in the Qur'an (3356); which reads "Surely Allah and His angels bless the Prophet. O you who believe, call for blessings on him and salute him with a (becoming) salutation."

If you agree that a translation of the Arabic version of this verse means the same, I have a couple of questions concerning it (the verse).

1. When one salutes another, isn't it an act... meaning a verb... meaning that you are in fact DOING something?

2. "... call for blessings on him..." - well, I'm certain that the definition of "grateful praise or worship" doesn't fit here, because ALLAH would not ask us to praise or worship anyone or thing, except HIM. But, there are other definitions... 1. the act of one who blesses 2. a declaration of divine favor, or an invocation impluring divine favor on someone or something; a benediction; a wish of happiness 3. a means of happiness; that which promotes prosperity and welfare; a beneficent gift 4. a gift 5. grateful praise or worship

Well, we already cancelled out definition #5 for the reasons stated above... but for those other definitions left... they are also ACTS that one does on behalf of another on whom is still with them or US... only a living person existing in this world can benefit from blessings... do you agree?

Now, I'm not a scholar... and I'm not trying to be "right"... only trying to make sense of things. So, please... don't hesitate to correct me or offer some insight or understanding that I am missing from this verse.

My interpretation of this verse is that this was a command to those who were in the Prophet's presence. "... call for blessings on him..." and "... salute him with a (becoming) salutation." Which one can only salute another who is in their presence, because it is an ACTION. Again... I could be wrong in my interpretation... and if I am, please help me to understand.
