Dear postman,
I know a few who have been through something similar, but, sad to say, it has often ended up as SwedenMajidah experienced
You have already got some good suggestions, but at the end of the day, it is all up to Allah, as some have mentioned.
If your wife is into reciting the quran, she is probably only interested in reciting it with ?correct? Arabic pronunciation, probably led on by female friends and some charismatic mullah.
Here you are up against a tough one.
What you have to do is to guide her into losing her trust in the religious people.
Don?t tell her they are wrong, let her discover that herself.
You have to show a keen interest in the quran. Maybe you could try to ask her questions to bring to her mullah, or friends, for explanation? And ask for reference to verses in the quran on the matter?
For instance ask what nullifies prayer and/or ablution.
If Hadiths come up as references, then probably it could be possible to bring in the Hadiths telling about the woman being one of the causes that nullifies prayer and ask her to bring the question back to the religious people.
It could also help to become ?more religious than her? for a while, and find questions that should be important to you both concerning religion, and try to engage her that way.
I believe God doesn?t mind whatever way you find, if it can lead someone back to islam.
Anyway, whatever you do, don?t tell her what is right and what is wrong if she doesn?t have trust in you concerning religion. She must find this out by herself; you can only guide her into finding it.
Many of us, including yourself perhaps, know how tough it is to let go of the Sunni belief. It was a real struggle.
I am wishing you all the best.
Regds
