  • God did not create the universe, says Hawking
    R Rev_John

This is such a shame. Stephen Hawking has one of the most brilliant minds around, but he fails to answer, or even understand the most fundamental question- If the universe was created from the, so called, "Big Bang" (was not big, nor was it a bang) that was caused by a small, excessively dense, ball of pure energy, then where did that ball of energy come from? One of the most basic rules of physics is that energy can not be created nor destroyed, it can only be changed. Therefore, that ball of energy (that contained all the energy now distributed throughout the universe) HAD to come from somewhere! Maybe God put it there!

And they got that from the christian as well D
As (both of them) say "Jews and Infidels shall ends up in Hell!!!"

Oh by the way, just to let you know, I don't actually believe in hell.

    R Rev_John

    Yes Rev. John.. you're right...

And they (sunni, shiites etc..) got it from their 'older brother' as well the Christians..

You see... both (traditional) christians and traditional Islam (sunni, shiites) share these common traits

    • Salvation of the soul (heaven/jannah) is achieved through having the 'correct faith' and joining the 'true religion/sect'.
    • Actively seeking converts, thinking that by obtaining convert for their 'true religion/sect' God will be pleased and grant them heaven/jannah.
    • The 'correct faith' is achieved by acknowledgement / recognizing all God's prophet sent to this world (one is Jesus the other one is Mohammad)
Although they haven't met any of them during their lifetime.
    • Fail to recognized any of God's true prophet will results in Narr / Hell / Gehena, as such both think that the Jews
(and others infidels who doesn't recognize their prophet) will certainly ends up in Hell since they don't acknowledged Jesus or Mohammad.
    • Converting to other sect / religion / belief besides the 'true religion/dogma' will got Hell as their punishment.
As such they're very very afraid of 'learning and understanding other point of view / teachings' as there could be chances that they shall 'feel'
that this 'other point of view' is more 'right and correct' and they will 'lose their secured slot in Heaven / Jannah'.
And that's why they are always 'phobic' to alien culture and point of view and do nothing to understand it yet do many to attack it.

The way to ends this 'circle of karma' (as the eastern religions / cultures called it) is to start from ourselves.
Refrain from <put anything here>-phobic and people/race/culture stereotyping, and as time progress this 'good deed' shall bear its fruit.

And you my dear friend Rev.John are one of those rare personalities who could help on this 'collaborative works' for ending this
centuries long of prejudices, hatred, suspicion and stereotyping by putting forward a good example of TOLERANCE, LOVE and UNDERSTANDING.

    Salam / Peace

Oh yes you are right! I would never even think of trying to deny that. All you have to do is look back in history to find numerous examples. Unfortunately no one seems to learn from it.

    R Rev_John

It could also act as a 'reminder' / 'lesson' for us to not doing the same thing to other people or culture..
Basically people fear the 'unknown' or those who are 'alien' to them..
There are Islamophobic, Jewishphobic, Chinesephobic, Asianphobic, Westernphobic etc..

    "We reap what we sew"

"Judge not, that ye be not judged"
"For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged and with what measure you measure , it shall be measured to you again."
"And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?"

You are quite right. But please don't forget that most Sunni and Shea are Christianphobic

    R Rev_John

dear John, this cannot be called a "very little" difference.
But I was talking about, which you mentioned without detail
Do the God alone Christians consider Muhammad as Last Messenger of Allah?
Muslims Do consider Issa as Messenger of Allah!

Any way I know how hard it is to preach God-alone in Christian Countries, Who consider Jesus as Son of God,
    so Hail to you handshake

Not necessarily the last messenger, but most do consider him to be a messenger/prophet of God. As for my term "little difference". I do think they are not important differences as they are mainly just "procedural" differences and I was meaning that there was very little difference between the actual beliefs.

    Rev.John
and what is that very little difference?

God-alone Christians follow the message Jesus brought us from God and God-alone Muslims follow the message Muhammad brought us from God. (although the messages were almost the same).

God-alone Muslims celebrate Ramadan, God-alone Christians do not

God-alone Muslims and God alone Christians celebrate the sabbath on different days.

God-alone Muslims follow the Quran without hadiths, God-alone Christians follow the bible without the add-ons

    God-alone Christians eat pork.

    Etc

    But you know all this

  • Former unsure christian to islam
    R Rev_John

I grew up in small city in WA state and in christian church. Though I went to church and believed in God I really didn't understand much of what I was hearing. When I attended church I often found myself daydreaming about this or that. I struggled with religion for most of my life, but my belief in god was strong. When I was in college I enjoyed going to different christian denominations to see what they have to offer. In all of them I struggled with the message. Every once and a while I would look into Islam, but it was difficult for me to understand it. I was confused how the Quran and hadiths were both of the same religion. As I continued to look into religions I would always keep looking at Islam, and then one day I came across a wikipedia article that had two or so lines about Quran alone. I read those two lines and immediately felt a connection. I started searching it on the internet and became hooked. I read the websites, the Quran, articles, and more of the Quran. I began to get a feeling I hadn't had before.

A few days ago I made my first post on this site and asked about salat. I received great comments that have helped me a great deal. I am still learning and have many questions. I see many words and sayings on this website and I have no idea what they mean, or only a very basic understanding. I am also trying to find a way to learn arabic since I want to read the Quran in its original language, and help me with the words on many Islam sites.

I am not sure if I am a Muslim, a muslim, or just a follower of Islam, and to tell you the truth I don't think I really care what title my belief may have. My concern now is to grow my submission to God.

It really doesn't matter what you call yourself. If you believe in one God and one God only, then you are a God-aloner whether you are a God-alone Christian or a God-alone Muslim, there is very little difference between the two.

  • what am I?
    R Rev_John

The best answer is of course I am ME..

Every individual is unique, no matter how much the sectarian folks try to enforce their dogma to the masses, a uniformity in belief is an impossibility.

    I completely agree

    General Issues / Questions

  • what am I?
    R Rev_John

I completely understand your problem. I get asked often what Christian denomination I am, my answer, of course, is none. But sometimes I even get told that I cannot be a Christian if I do not believe that Jesus was "our only saviour" I am then asked what religion I am. So here goes

1 I am a Christian because I believe in the message that God gave Jesus to give to us

2 I am a Jew because I accept the message that Moses received from God

3 I am a Muslim because I believe in the message that God gave Muhammad

4 I am a believer in the One God, the Creator, Father and Mother, and saviour of us all

  • Can a muslim woman marray a christian man???
    R Rev_John

    bravo

By trinity doesn't it mean that trinitian christians are still monotheists because they believe 3 is one? !

Well that certainly applies to most. Even if they believe Jesus was God (which I don't), the belief is actually that he was God in human form (still the one God) and that the holy spirit is God's influence that touches us. So when they say "God the father, God the son and God the holy spirit" they are only talking about three different manifestations of the one God. The biggest difference (in belief) between mainstream Christians and others is the belief that Jesus was God who came to Earth and took human form. Many modern day Christians now reject that idea.

  • Can a muslim woman marray a christian man???
    R Rev_John

a muslim man or a woman cannot marry a christian (one who believes Jesus is son of God and in the trinity). the christians referred to in the Koran are those who believed Jesus is son of Mary and a messenger from God.

if i had to choose between a man who is a christian as per the koran (doesn't believe in the trinity) and a hadith follower - surely, it will be more 'islamic' for me to marry a man who is a monotheist than a man who believes God + hadiths.

I agree with most of this reply. Unfortunately many Christians have misunderstood the bible and have taken the word "son" literally. Throughout the bible it uses the word "son" to mean "descendant of", i.e. Jesus being the son of David. Well of course he wasn't literally the son of David, he was a descendant on David. In two of the four gospels it gives the linage of Jesus ending in "...... was the son of Seth, who was the son of Adam, who was the son of God". Therefore, Jesus was the son of God because he was a descendant of Adam, as we all are according to the old testament. I believe, as you do, that Jesus was a prophet and messenger.

The big problem is that humans are human! They will always have their opinion (which is always right and everyone else is wrong), they will always have politics, they will always have religion, they will always have feelings. Do away with all of those and you might, just might get peace, but then we would all be zombies!

  • No Mosque, Go to church?
    R Rev_John

I live in an area where there isn't a Mosque, and even if there was I don't know if I would be welcomed if I only followed the Quran and don't speak arabic. I feel the need to be around others who worship god and am considering attending a church. I don't plan to hide my faith while there, but am curious as to your opinions. I don't plan to take part in communion since it seems as idol worship. Brothers and sisters, please give me your opinions, both good and bad. Thank you.

It is such a shame you do not live me, you would be more than welcome at my church

    General Issues / Questions

  • 6 literal days?
    R Rev_John

Ok, so the Torah & the Quran say the earth was created in six days. Sorry, but that is wishful thinking. Science proves the earth is much older. How can the earth be 6,000 years old when archeology says mankind is much older? And what about dinosaurs that pre-existed humanity

Where does it say that a day to God is the same as a day to us? Don't forget, an Earth day is just 24 hours, A Galaxy day is 200 million years, so how long would a universe day be? Therefore how long would a God day be?
