Why can't we be happy with anything we have? Isn't it natural to want to be happy? For example, if I got a new job and the job is really good, pays well, good coworkers etc., isn't it natural to feel happy about this? Why does the verse indiciate that we should not feel sad or happy i.e. indifferent? If I'm happy with a new job, that doesn't mean I'm arrogant...

The word "happy", I believe is not the right translation due to the context. It should say do not "boast". In my opinion, the reason being is because it is God who gives you the provisions, builds your character, gives you knowledge, etc. Everything that pertains to you, how you are designed, what you achieve, and what is taken away is by the will of God. So what room is there for one to boast? The "do not despair" part is because it has been predestined. There was nothing you could have done to change what has passed. We see this clearly in 5722 that misfortune is already written on the "Kitabin"/ record before it comes into existence. The question is, what else is on this "Kitabin"? God's knowledge of all things...

Absolutely, but I think that comes with the territory of receiving God's grace upon the select few who have been given the truth. It is hard to find any passion or desire in life, speaking for myself, when the only thing that interest me is God's word. Everything else seems pointless. On the bright side though, I use the time I have left by exercising the best of my abilities to carry out God's commands before that Day comes. Use what you are experiencing, sadness/depression/loneliness as an opportunity to please God, by acknowledging that all this that is happening is because of God's will, and embrace it through patience, perseverance, and faith. Everything you are feeling is not in vain, it is for a specific purpose for His glory. Remember, what you are feeling is no accident )

I can say Satan can testify who God is, and knows/believes/acknowledges He has sent scripture as a means for guidance but is one who is of Hell. You see where I am getting at?

I want to change my stance due to a mistake I made. When Huruf stated "And whose sin would it be?" this made me re-evaluate the situation. If we look at the verse where it states...

"35 So they made their father drink wine that night also, and the younger arose and lay with him; and he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. 36 Thus both the daughters of Lot were with child by their father."

Due to Lot's intoxication, he was not aware. Therefore, his intentions was not to commit incest which leads to no "sin" on his part.

Salam, I don't see how Nuh sinned by asking Allah about why his son wasn't saved. He didn't ask in an angry way, but in a confused/sad type of way. He probably believed that his son was a believer this whole time.

Why would you find it to be unbelievable? The idea that a prophet was involved in such an act? Incest is still currently occurring till this day. I would find Moses miracle parting the sea unbelievable, but I have faith in it that it occurred.

Doubt is a part of the human experience. We shouldn't believe blindly. So if we're accepting that both events actually happened, then I would say Lot's sin is greater (although it doesn't say in the verses you provided that Lot committed incest, it just says his daughters were plotting against him).

These "miracles" are completely objective to whether someone believes or disbelieves due to witnessing them. We see this clearly with the miracle that Musa demonstrated to the Children of Israel, parting the sea (personally my opinion, most amazing miracle in my book), and they STILL did not believe.

On the metaphysical level, we are only dependent on God making us believe or not. Therefore, our proof is that He caused us to believe that His scripture is divine. Therefore if we can say that "miracles" in itself is what convinces us, we are associating them to the One, God.

From my current understanding these verses are mere reflections of what ultimately answers Taro's question.

2868 Thy Lord does create and choose as He pleases no choice have they (in the matter) Glory to Allah! and far is He above the partners they ascribe (to Him)!

In other words, there is NOTHING you can do on your own that will bring you closer to God, let alone, become open to His guidance and walk according to his covenant law. The partners they ascribe are themselves. The "prayers" and "good works" cannot manifest unless God has bestowed His grace upon you, therefore there is nothing you did to earn His mercy. Which gives all credit to God alone, and none to ourselves.

7630 But ye will not, except as Allah wills; for Allah is full of Knowledge and Wisdom.

This verse completely destroys the understanding of "Free Will" - having a choice (will) independently from God's. That is why He is the controller of ALL things.
