My take is a messenger is a person who carries God's message that could be anything. When God's messenger start to announce the message to the people, he becomes a prophet. So prophets are human messengers but angels speak to a specific person and don't go public. The only way a human messenger can lose the title prophet is by keeping God's message to himself.

That was probably an effort to forget about the Arab/Muslim contribution. What if those Arabs/Muslims did not preserve Greek/Roman science, math and philosophy? We would never have gone beyond witch-hunting and burning of the infidels of the superstitious medieval ages, as well ancient ones including Greek/Roman superstitions. Not that superstition has been wiped out from the world, and it probably will never be, unless all people become enlightened about Nature.

The whole story of painting the Greeks and Romans as 'scientific' and 'logical' is pure hype and fantasy. It is mostly a falsehood created by the Roman Catholic Church after the roman empire collapsed, to paint themselves as perpetuating civilization rather than just being a group of weirdos encouraging sexual repression. Scientific method started with Arab Muslims and was brought to fruition by North European Protestants. The Greeks, and Romans and Pagans never had anything to do with it.

We still have our humanity and reasoning/thinking power. Let's not forget about that. Let's put them to good use.

I believe this is just a cheap trick. Write something (or inherit whatever was written by supposedly inspired holy men) and claim it is divine. Then say exactly (or similar to, depending on the "god" you believe) what is written in Zohar.

Voila! Sincere believers will never doubt this and they will just propagate this generations after generations.

Well I went into that topic making an @$$ of myself...

You see? How miracles from the Quran bring you closer to it and away from statements that contradict it...but there is one saying I think is miraculous, and that is the one about dipping the fly in the soup...a recent research showed that drowning flies in ethanol, extracts antibiotic material (the substance which would be used to cure the poisoned part of the fly).

Which still goes with my current belief, which is that some hadiths are possibly right (^that being the closest to me so far) and some that are outright wrong and sexist.

The thing about the statement is this. I can't say I know Muhammad pbuh said it, but I know someone back then must have had this knowledge. Whether or not it's a revelation from Allah to our Prophet, I don't know, but I can put it into my stack of acceptable hadiths. I'm 95% convinced this is a true saying from our prophet.

Thanks for your response. The expression implies that God is not always present everywhere, otherwise, the expression wouldn't make any sense. But then, if God is not everywhere, whatever happened to the assertion that God is everywhere, unless you don't believe that.

I understand what you are trying to say (i.e. essentially a time-out), but not everyone sees their errors during their timeouts. What is the guarantee that they will eventually see their errors and apologize?

"God", "Hell" or "Heaven" sound like mere concepts, having different meanings to different people.... everyone interprets however they want to believe. These are just my thoughts... so don't take it personally.

It is quite simple really. My concept of hell is not a place or fiery pit or anything like that. My concept of hell is the absents of God and the punishment of hell is God sending you away from him for a period of time until you "see the error of your ways and apologise to him". Therefore by saying "May God always be with you" is praying that it never happens to you.

What makes you so sure that the rites that people follow (Christians, Hindus, Muslims, Buddhists etc.) are actually sanctioned by God? It is easy to pick up (or isolate) a verse from the reading and use it to justify what people do. By all means, please be crystal clear before you attribute to God about rites that people follow.

Did anyone notice this part... "Whoever has received understanding from His Lord...".? Perhaps this is the problem because we see so much confusion about this "riba" understood as "interest/usury". Can anyone guarantee that he/she has received understanding from His Lord?

2275 Those who consume usury do not rise except as one being influenced by the devil's touch. That is because they have said "Trade is the same as usury." While God has made trade lawful, and He has forbidden usury. Whoever has received understanding from His Lord and ceases, then he will be forgiven for what was before this and his case will be with God. But whoever returns, then they are the people of the Fire, in it they will abide eternally.
