Thanks for your posts. bkanwar2 Can you please clarify are you saying that the QIE version is a mistake? Following up on Bender's post, the hamza is placed on the prior word for BOTH words outlined in red above (see Bender's post). It seems the order of tashkil in all cases is fathah, then kasrah... so I suspect that the pronunciation of all versions are identical, yes? Also, I wonder how this word was written before tashkil I am not understanding the question well. Let me share a fact about Quran. The fact remains that whatever the prevalent printed Quran is available, is the Quran. Which also nobody understands. There is no original manuscript available anywhere in public domain. Quranic text evolved over period of years to current shape. The only way to understand current text is via archives of preserved language. The preserved language is only with all diacritical marks and tashkeel Therefore, let us first have a basic understand of what is available as a fact and reality and then worry about what it might have been at a later date. Regards,

I do not like interview (Q and A) kind of discussions. I also like to hear what the other party thinks when I discuss with him/her. Understood. Forgive me for giving you many questions, perhaps I should stop asking you, I'm sorry. I suppose I often ask important things to people here. Perhaps they're willing to share what they know (their knowledge) to me, so I can ponder/think over what they say. I'm not always have the same knowledge with others, perhaps they know better than me about something, so I ask, maybe I can have new knowledge for something which previously I didn't know. Looks like I consider that our conversation in this thread is not discussion, but perhaps more like I need to know your experiences related with your meeting with people whom you think is/are messenger/s. I have important personal reason for why I asked you about the messengers. I asked you about them because you seem to think that you have met some/one of them. If you never met them personally, then perhaps I will not go so far in questioning to you about the messengers. Salm.

Dear brother, As-salam alaykum. Yes, the revelation of the Quran was piecemeal. In all cases, we must take into account all the related verses before coming to any conclusion. 2532 And those who disbelieve say Why is the Quran not revealed to him all at once? (It is revealed) thus that We may strengthen thy heart there with; and We have arranged it in right order. Regards.

Arman - thanks again. Your question "whether there are words in the Quran where the meaning is different for the same spelling/part of speech...?" is a totally different/new question. He he... sorry I did not articulate that I was asking a new/ tangent question... we're so offtopic from "Significance of alef in " that I just went with the flow )

Peace Brother mmkhan I appreciate your efforts in trying to interpret Quran other than the way of the traditional. I have read your Ramadhan Fasting article but found something missing and a little bit of misunderstanding the Arabic verses. Please do not take it as an insult or offense because it is minor error of misjudgment. Peace brother, Sorry for late reply. Thanks and there is nothing offensive or an insult in your post. ) You claim that fasting is to abstain from speech whereas I do not accept this interpretation. You erred while reading the whole verse.and missed the important word. Let me explain you. Allowed unto you, on the night of fasts, is consorting with your women. they are a garment unto you, and ye are a garment unto them. Allah knoweth that ye have been defrauding yourselves, so He hath relented toward you and pardoned you. Wherefore now copulate with them, and seek that which Allah hath prescribed for you, and eat and drink, UNTIL the white thread becometh manifest unto you from the black thread of the dawn; thereafter complete the fast till night fall. And copulate not with them While ye are retreating in the mosques. These are the bounds of Allah, wherefore approach them not. Thus Allah expounds all His signs unto mankind that haply they may fear Him. 2187 You missed the word UNTIL. After eat and drink there is no full stop but continuation of the verse and the subject eat and drink is up to dawn or whatever it is. There is continuation of eating and drinking but a pause is applied by UNTIL which is up to dawn Examples of UNTIL We played until it got dark. (they stopped playing until it got dark) Keep going until I tell you to stop. (he kept going until he told him to stop) I ran until I was breathless. (he ran until he was breathless) Stay here until the danger has passed. (he stayed there until danger had passed) Stir the dough until it forms a ball. (she stirred dough until it formed a ball) We shall show them Our portents on the horizons and within themselves until it will be manifest unto them that it is the Truth. Doth not thy Lord suffice, since He is Witness over all things? when you said, "O Moses, we will never believe you until we see Allah outright"; so the thunderbolt took you while you were looking on. (2 55) The people never said that "we will never believe you for ever but UNTIL they see Allah. Until in the verse is a continuation of the subject. Wow! I know the meaning of ILLA or UNTIL bro. And that was not an issue in hand. Your second understanding regarding SHAHR as Moon. I cannot comment anything on this subject but the Quranic verses negates this understanding The Night of Power is better than a thousand MOONS. 973 There is only one moon A sacred MOON is for a sacred MOON; these sacrednesses are in retaliation. Whosoever then offereth violence unto you, Offer violence unto him the like of his violence unto you, and fear Allah, and know that Allah is with the God-fearing 2194 The MOON of Ramadhan in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful There are many SHAHR verses but not a single one means MOON in the Quran. A little correct, I never said SHAHR = MOON, but I said SHAHR = FULL-MOON. WITNESSING THE MONTH You are right that no one can witness the month because witness is always for the past and not future. But again here SHAHID does not always mean WITNESS but PRESENT also http//i.snag.gy/sa2wH.jpg And indeed, there is among you he who lingers behind; and if disaster strikes you, he says, "Allah has favored me in that I was not present with them." 472 If you take SHAHIDA as PRESENT, then how will you translate 5111, 5117, 619, 6150, 1154, 1226, and 2424. Another word is used for PRESENT is as in 2133 and 5106. I am sorry to say that I disagree on any Arabic word having two or more meanings. I understand that the word SHAHIDA means EYE-WITNESS. So whoever among you (is) present (during the) month of Ramadhan should fast it. Please correct me if erred. Thanks You see brother, you need to add or to the aayat. And how did you understand "fast IT"? May Allah increase our knowledge and guide us on His path pr mmKhan

Peace, If the word 'salat' can change, then each and every word that exists in the Quran is capable of change. So why do you even use any Quranic verse in the first place without translating them first using your 'knowledge of Arabic'? I have faith that the recitation is a reflection of God's words, but I have difficulty to apply any of the passages without carefully investigating them first, particularly if they seem to merely look like neanderthal Pagan practices. Why are you using 6116 or any other verse of the Quran without critiquing them first? Will you deny that if you follow most people they will lead you astray? If you do not then we can please end the discussion here already. What does the word 'al-quran' mean? Does it mean, 'the recitation'? If it does, then what makes you think it the correct? Why hasn't the meaning of the word 'al-quran' changed just like the word 'salat'? In the lack of any sign that it is wrong with recitation I keep it that way. It is irrelevant actually. But I have considered analyzing the word more into depth before, but it is not within the scope right now when my efforts are on salat. There are verses that make me curious about Qur'an though such as these (Monotheist translation) 1777 Such was the way of those whom We had sent before you of Our messengers. And you will not find any change in Our way. 1778 Hold the contact prayer till the setting of the sun; to the murkiness of the night; and the Qur?an at dawn - the Qur?an at dawn is witnessed. 1779 And from the night, as an addition, you shall reflect upon it for yourself, perhaps your Lord would grant you a station that is praiseworthy. How much sense does that sentence make to you? In my regard; the understanding is completely off. But if you want to interpret it as ritualistic prayer at nightfall then feel free. How do you even know, for example, the verse which you have just used, "And if you obey most of those on the earth they will lead you away from the path of God; that is because they follow conjecture, and that is because they only guess (6116)", has been translated correctly since you believe that dictionaries and lexicons are not reliable? Correct or not; it is very true indeed in saying. I do not absolutely think that 100% of the Qur'an is misinterpreted; only that is is often that. Sometimes I have read, a dozen or two, verses before I found any inconsistency and oftentimes it is only minor and not affecting the meaning too much. Have faith

peace MofF, In the Arabic discourse there is no mention of fasting in just that phrase and most people always add 'fasting' despite the fact that it does not occur in the clause at all. Can you clarify what phrase you are referring to? If it is the following 2184 "...waAAala allatheena yuteeqoonahu fidyatun..." Then the "hu" refers to a preceding masculine singular object, see http//corpus.quran.com/wordmorphology.jsp?location=(218416) If this is not "sawm" then what does it refer to?

Wow bro thank you for taking the time to answer the questions so clearly... Really appreciate it bud.. And it's really funny reading all that you've written... I converted to Sunnism some time back, but whenever I'd ask a question, the answer would always be "You shouldn't ask questions because it's how Shaitan misguides people". Unfortunately, logic, reasoning, and truth are the things I follow, so I'd always be left confused. And here I come to this open minded forum, and people ask, answer, debate, and reason with each other. Essentially, I see most people here are trying to reach TRUTH, rather than blindly believe everything the damn mullas (priests) teach. Thanks again bud for the answers, and thanks to everyone here who decided to let go of the ignorance of sunnism.

You are trying too hard. Try thinking laterally. Looking at the verse in question, yes it does mention you may abstain if you are travelling or ill but these are so wide-ranging how do you know? Is a person who has to walk to work every day 'travelling' even if they come home again? Yes and No. Is a breast-feeding woman ill? Maybe not, but is her fasting 16hrs/day at the same time gonna make her and/or the baby ill. Maybe. That is why I think God counters it by saying 'if you experience hardship'. This negates any 'conditions for exemption' in the first place. If you feel that you would experience hardship so much that fasting would be dangerous, then you may delay it until when you can; if you still can't then you can feed poor people instead (i.e. as a charity - I dislike this being labelled a 'ransom&#039, if you can afford it. Oh, I think you are the one doing that. Again, it is not up to you (or anyone) to decide whether someone else's reasons are valid or not. Only they know. Unless they ask your opinion and then you can say what you think; but even then it is their decision. The relationship you have with yourself/God is sacred; it is impossible for you to know what is right for someone else, and neither can someone else for you. Counter hint Learn how to mind your own business. Peace. I find this very much in agreement with the general thrust of the Qur'an which calls us repeatedly to reason and reflect and assume our personal decisions. We are to follow but follow through conviction and independent, free decision, after having clarity on our motives, that is, after having purified us. God wants to purify us, and for that we must want to be purified and do our part as far as we are capable of it. And the judge , as Jane says, are we ourselves. That is our test for us, that is our job, to test ourselves and exact the best or the less bad from ourselves. Do much, do little, but do do something. That is the great wisdom of the Qur'an where nobody is excluded and everybody wins in the race. It reminds me when my daughter was a little child and she put her "toys" (which might be even chickpeas) to run races. Everytime they were all winners. First great applause, because such and such has won first. Then great applause because such and such has won second, and so on and so forth great applauses up to the win of the very last one. What a great lesson those races were. We are all meant to win, at our own pace. We should not envy or feel bad because of those who are "better", we should believe in tawhid, we are all One. We should feel comforted that evey person does his or her best. We should not be measuring merits, but applauding effort. Little is way way way over nothing. As to pregnant women and breastfeeding women and all those who already are engaged in giving themselves for others, we must know that they are already doing the purifying, because what they do without engaging in special sawm is purifying by itself. If they feel like they are being more faithful taking up more, that must always be their own estimation and decision. And with or without that equally applauded. Encouragement and compliment are better than grudging and excting from our cohuman. They do not need us as judges. As the Qur'an says, enjoin the best and advice the best, but it does not command us the judge anybody not to pester anybody. And compliments, where sincere, are about the best advice one can give. If we find something good in someone, just say it to the person, why grudge it. Salaam

Perhaps it's not a miracle, but I think it's still nice to know that the word man (singular masculine) and the word woman (singular feminine) appear with the same amount. I agree. Most satisfying.

Here we have a common misconception, and that is when the word "Islam" is left without being translated, giving the impression that only those who call themselves Muslims are allowed into heaven nope The word "Islam" when translated as surrender or submission or peace or submission to the will of God, gives the word Islam a broader connotation that would include "all those who live a life of submission/surrender/peace to God. The Jihad (striving in the way of God to purify oneself) were we all live thru periods of weak faith, sin, hypocrisy and repentance is ongoing for all of us, from the top of the earth to the south pole, and does not end until death. Ultimately, we can?t see into their hearts ? only Allah can. We simply do not know who goes to Heaven or Hell. This knowledge is reserved for Allah alone. God bless peace Good answer bravo Dien is 'attitude' and not 'religion'. Dien / attitude doesn't require any holy book or prophet or rites or plead of allegiance / testimony. From the Quran "And Abraham instructed his sons and Jacob, , "O my sons, indeed Allah has chosen for you this DIEN, so do not die except while you are MUSLIMS." (2132) Some basic facts as reminder about the times of Jacob and Abraham. There isn't any Quran There isn't any Gospel, Torah, Tanakh or other 'holy books'. There isn't any religion of Islam, Christianity or Judaism. There isn't any religion of Sunnis, Shia, Catholics, Orthodox, Anglican, Presbytarian. There isn't any 'shahada' or 'shema'. Muhammad, Jesus, Moses were not yet being born into this world.

I recommend What does The Quran say on the age of marriage? The Quran does not state a specific legal age of marriage, however it does give a guideline and mentions situations and conditions that should be considered before marriage ?Determining mutual attraction/compatibility ?Ascertaining whether the potential partner is of similar beliefs/faith ?Discussion of and agreeing to the level of dower and other terms (if any) ?Understanding and mutual acceptance of marriage as a solemn/strong oath/contract ?If male, capable of providing for the family/household ?To have physically matured / post-puberty If the marriage is unsuccessful, one should also be capable of undertaking divorce proceedings, e.g. separation period, arbitration, discussion of settlement etc . AND To understand the sequence of events, we must fully understand the divorce procedure according to The Quran ?'cooling-off' period for those who swear away from their wives sexually, limited to 4 months * ?after this 4 month 'cooling-off' period, the options are revert to normal relations or divorce/talaq ?post-divorce interim/waiting period is 3 menstruation periods or 3 months, if pregnant it is until they deliver, if widowed it is 4 months and 10 days ?if no sex has taken place after marriage, then no interim period is required after divorce/talaq . Compensation may be due however if dower was agreed upon ?during post-divorce interim period, wife remains in the same house, and is compensated by way of maintenance during this period in the same living standard as the husband, each according to their means ** ?divorce is automatically retracted if sex between the couple takes place during the interim period *** ?if couple reconciles, then divorce/talaq may be retracted twice during interim-period. If divorced a third time it is final unless she marries another then they divorce, only then can original partners re-marry. If the couple fear they will not maintain God's bounds, then wife may give some dowry back to release herself ?if couple still wishes to follow through with the divorce/talaq after the end of the interim period and undergo final separation, then two witnesses are required to complete the process ?exceptions exist, in certain situations ?the onus is upon the person in the wrong to rectify the situation or initiate divorce/release, and it is an obligation upon the contract-breaking party to compensate the other As a side note, the last point is also mentioned in traditional Islamic law and sources, see M.Asad's note on 2229. This system would also protect the male if he were to marry a female who only did so for his money or the marital gift then she wished to end the marriage later, because since the contract-breaking party compensates the other partner, she would have to do so accordingly. Similarly, this would protect the female if she were to marry a male who only did so for lustful reasons then wished to end the marriage later, as he would then have to compensate her. *Also possibly provides a time limit due to a practice of the time in which husbands did not have sex with their wives but also did not divorce them, see 581-4, 334; i.e. leaving them in a state between marriage and divorce. Similar to what is implied by 4129. **And the same goes for the lesser situation of 'cooling-off' period. Obviously, the wife would not be removed from the home for the lesser serious 'cooling-off' period then brought back just for the post-divorce interim period. ***Inference from 2226 is that resumption of sexual relations is equated to reconciliation, thus no initiation of divorce. Hence, same proviso for post-divorce interim period, i.e. sex = reconciliation.

Bold confused Perhaps the above understanding is more suitable for many of men? The men should reduce their focused attention upon women and that they should preserve their genitalia . Peace. Men are given the same advice earlier in 2430. However, "Killing eye" is usually related to women gaze.

I did not say having sex with hundreds of people. I said LOVE COUPLES, not one-night stands. Love couples mean partners who have committed relationship to each other, the difference is they are just not paperly married. I am not saying I support it. But even these people must be flogged too? If two people truly like each other and planing to be together until death seperates them than I have nothing against it, but this is only my opinion and does not mean it is written in the Quran. I also think that you should define "LOVE COUPLES"? -Which type of love you think of and how do you define love? -Love is a word that can have many meanings, love because of money, power, physical attraction or these things combined.
