Peace Fawzia, So would it have been preferable, imfromjakarta, had they stuck exactly to the Torah? Would it be good to you if Jews killed their children who became apostates? Or stoned a newlywed who did not bleed on her wedding night & her husband complained? Would it be right to stone her on her father's doorstep? Or stoned every man(married or unmarried) who had sex with a married woman? Its to the credit of Jews that they have been able to supercede such barbaric practices 2000 years ago via creative reinterpretations of Rabbis, & that Jews like Reform & Reconstructionist are constantly doing this. Although the Torah gives the capital punishment for multiple offences, Israel has had only 2 executions all these years for massive war crimes, thanks to the reinterpretation of Jewish laws. http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capital_punishment_in_Israel Jews who don't uphold the laws of the Torah are, by managing to do away with such barbarism two millennia ago, creating a more humane society, sure they follow the modern ethical principles of not stealing, not killing etc, but so do plenty of atheists & members of non Abrahamic faiths. Or do you prefer rampant stonings of adulteresses, apostates & non bleeding newlyweds? ??? I have no knowledge about the original content of The Torah, if what you wrote in your previous post is content of Torah, and I was born as one of bani Israil, I will try my best to implement al-Qur'an as a Criterion/al-Furqaan to differentiate truth from falsehood in Torah.

Why don't you guys see similar constructions like this phrase? If Ahsan al-hadith = the most beautiful (from among) the hadith then quran al-fajri = declaration of the dawn So the ayah would read Aqimi alssalata establish salat lidulooki alshshamsi for the decline of the sun ila ghasaqi allayli to the darkness of the night wa qur-ana alfajri and the declaration of the dawn inna qur-ana alfajri kana mashhoodan verily the declaration of the dawn is witnessed. what does declaration of the dawn mean? Please clarify?

peace Is christianity okay - If you can't marry a non believer then why are we being allowed to marry christians? 002.221 YUSUFALI Do not marry unbelieving women (idolaters), until they believe A slave woman who believes is better than an unbelieving woman, even though she allures you. Nor marry (your girls) to unbelievers until they believe A man slave who believes is better than an unbeliever, even though he allures you. Unbelievers do (but) beckon you to the Fire. But Allah beckons by His Grace to the Garden (of bliss) and forgiveness, and makes His Signs clear to mankind That they may celebrate His praise. 005.005 YUSUFALI This day are (all) things good and pure made lawful unto you. The food of the People of the Book is lawful unto you and yours is lawful unto them. (Lawful unto you in marriage) are (not only) chaste women who are believers, but chaste women among the People of the Book, revealed before your time,- when ye give them their due dowers, and desire chastity, not lewdness, nor secret intrigues if any one rejects faith, fruitless is his work, and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (all spiritual good). Good hunting. Both are distinct and enjoy identity exclusive to each other in the worldly life. They are distinct in their identification from the non believers from amongst the People of Book Notwithstanding their refusal to accept/believe the People of the Book should NEVER be equated with since Allah recognizes them as a distinct entity-people. We invite them to join us on a single point http//haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/003.%20Aale%20Imran/temp09%203.64.gif You people invite the people of Book, "O you the people of the Book! If it is money you plan to use in the future, then I don't think it would go under 'excess'. If we all gave away our savings then we wouldn't have any money for our children and to better ourselves in the future. Just my opinion. Majority save money for unforseen emergencies and future needs and safety of the children's future. Then how will excess will be decided ? Regards

Peace Mazhar, But in the text of Grand Qur'aan I distinctly find 29 letters, 28 consonants, one letter-alif. It depends on what you mean by "one letter Alif". The Alif is used to denote several sounds (and even a non-sound) and there are other letters that also denote the Alif long vowel sound. So do you mean The consonantal Alif that makes the consonantal A sound as in words such as and the Arabic definite article . The long vowel that makes the long A vowel sound that is written with a Mater Lectionis as in . The long A vowel without a Mater Lectionis as in . The silent Alif as in . The long A vowel sound as in . The long A vowel sound as in . As a side note, the Hamza or "glottal stop" is not a letter. It is a diacritic sign. Peace, Ayman

Peace, I found a unique tafsir of the Qur'an in my own language (Turkish). It's called "The Encyclopedia of the Qur'an". The author is Prof. Dr. S?leyman Ate. It consists of 30 volumes and costs $ 585. What makes this tafsir unique is that it's thematic. You can look up any topic, for example "marriage", and you will find all relevant verses with elaborate explanations. S?leyman Ate is well-known in Turkey. He has dedicated his life to Islam and has taught Arabic and tafsir to Arabs in Saudi Arabia, Algeria and Iraq. Unsurprisingly, some traditional Muslims in Turkey have called him a "kafir" because he does not adhere to "traditional" Islam. Anway, I wonder if there is a thematic tafsir of the Qur'an in English? The problem is of course who the author is. I'm not interested in traditional scholars who merely parrot whatever the classical scholars said. Whew, that's a lot of money. I'm going to bookmark the page though.

Dear Badar , as I understand from above, that if we take fig as the meaning of tteen, in this ayah, then we have to accept that Quran is using here possibly a foreign word, as this word was not used to mean fig in classical arabic. Hence, it cannot be describing fig, and has to be some other meanings, possibly as you are translating, if we accept that Quran is in pure arabic. Moreover as you are suggesting, that if we look at the construction of this word and base the meanings on the grammar rules, then it means something else anyways. Is it not true for feel also in Surah feel as, feel is a persian word in origin where it means elephant. If Quran is in pure arabic, then feel has to mean somthing else in this surah as well. I have seen your translation at www.servantofthelight.com and on this site as well, giving a totally different meaning of the arabic word feel, which I assume must have been used in Quran rather than a persian word feel, if we believe that this book is in a pure arabic language. Is it possible, that we have been assigning foreign meanings to many words in Quran, and hence having problems in getting to the real meanings? As I see from your previous threads, that this problem of understanding the correct meanings and message can be solved, if we apply the rules of Gezm, Shadda, fetha, Kesra, Dumma and other rules as per arabic grammar rules and lexicons, we could then arrive to correct meanings as they may have been in pure classical arabic at that time. Are you using Lanes and the grammatical rules only, to break down the words and arriving at meanings in arabic in you translations posted here and at the other site, instead of you arriving to traditional meanings accepted for centuries, which may be foriegn meanings incorporated and misunderstood later, and as may have been happening to many words?

If lashes is for adultery, what is for fornication? I don't think there is a punishment for fornication. Rather, the person who commited fornication, in ancient Semitic culture, was expected to marry the person he committed the act with. That's why forms of polygamy were accepted in ancient Judaism; if a married Jewish man married a single Jewish woman, the two were expected to marry, and the woman would become another wife (or concubine, in cases of royalty) for the man. In the Torah, there's no prescribed marriage ceremony, and one was considered the spouse of whoever they sex with, at least in ancient times. Since the Qur'aan also has no prescribed marriage ceremony, the concept was probably the same. And this ties into the fact that men can, according to the Qur'aan, marry more than one woman. This wouldn't, of course, apply to the female, since she can only have one husband, and having sex with anyone other than her husband (after marriage) is adultery. I think zina just means prostitution. You do not have to be married or single to be part of prostitution. What leads you to believe that "zina" means prostitution? A prostitute in Arabic is "aahira", and I believe that the Shi'ite practice of "muta" marriage is a form of prostitution. The word "zina" refers to illegal sexual intercourse, which could, depending on the circumstances, apply to fornication or adultery. However, I believe that, in the Qur'aan, it's referring to acts of adultery. But I guess that depends on interpretation... What makes you say that "zina" is prostitution?

Shabbir Ahmed in his QXP, which is not a literal translation, offers this explanation 2178 O You who have chosen to be graced with belief! The Law of Just Recompense (Qisaas) has been prescribed for you in dealing with murder. If a free person has committed murder, that free person will face the Law. If a servant has committed murder, that servant will face the Law. And if a woman has committed murder, that woman will face the Law. If the victim?s kin pardons the guilty, the murderer must be appreciative and pay an equitable compensation to the kin in handsome gratitude. This pardon is a concession and Mercy from your Lord. Whoever, after this, trespasses this Law will have an awful doom in the Court of God. I have that in my opening post..

Honestly, I doubt that was the reason, bro. Millions of people travel to Makkah for the pilgrimage every year, and there are plenty of brown, black, white, red, and yellow people on all the buses. The one who makes it to the bus first is the one who rides on it. And there are plenty of people who would happily get off the bus to make room for another person, especially if your grandmother was old when she travelled. The bus probably just ran out of space... maybe. I''ll ask her again.

Aren't the people who insist upon there ancestors ways deluding themselves. If any one is really bothered and cares for the message. I would humbly ask to please, pull up my discussions about Jezm, Sukoon and Shaadha under my user name on this very forum; and re-read those, please. , is tradionally considered one word followed by a personal pronoun. However, if one were to consider Jezm of Dal of . This becomes two words followed by . Here are the relavant pages from Lane for review of meanings. I am having a trouble to open Lane's PDF files. If within two hours window it would work I shall post here the links for relevant pages. Otherwise in a subsequent post. If one were to look at meanings of root word , which is " he uncovered, laid upon, revealed or disclosed. There is no way in the world that one could take and make sentence by using meanings of word as chest traditionally. Badar For , please see here, even the first meanings for this word is returned back http//www.studyquran.org/LaneLexicon/Volume4/00000384.pdf for , please see here, which is "he turned away, avoided, shunned and left him or it or he forsook him" http//www.studyquran.org/LaneLexicon/Volume4/00000382.pdf for , please see here, which is "it(a thing) was or became weak, feeble and incorrect". http//www.studyquran.org/LaneLexicon/Volume3/00000307.pdf and for please see here, which is " he uncovered and laid open, discovered, revealed or disclosed". http//www.studyquran.org/LaneLexicon/Volume4/00000254.pdf The above explanation given by you in the qouted text text then makes perfect sense along with the further breakdown given by you above as to why SADRUN cannot fit here, makes a very logical sense. I wonder how some experts like Brother Anwar feel about it too, whom I have been following in other threads as well for his very logical responses after he reverifies and rechecks things again and explains it. Salam to all and prayers for all for a wonderful effort to bring the humanity to the real meanings of the message as much as possible.

Peace, I was actually trained to "Tajweed" and I still practice it, and find it spiritually uplifting. However, that does not mean the practice is correct. I just try to take what I can spiritually from it, and accept that the Qur'an can be read in any way so long as the meaning is not intentionally distorted.
