I couldn't find "samaa'/the sky" as masculine in the quraan except in this verse. The phrase ( ) has two masculines in it the pronoun embedded in the active participle "munfatir" and the pronoun suffixed to the preposition "bihi". The later refers to the "yaum". Linguists say that "samaa'" can either be masculine or feminine, but this is not supported by the qur'aan where "samaa'" has regularly been used as feminine. I am more inclined towards the few who believe that "munfatir" is one of the active participles that does not have a feminine form, such as "7aamil"; "3aaqir", "waluud"; "mu3Dil (complicated)"; "ghadoub"; "3abous". .... There's a similar situation in this verse here 5420 Where we have a similar participle "munqa3ir" in the masculine form describing the feminine "nakhl/palm tree" Thanks a lot Sister. It makes the point straight.

From http//www.free-minds.org/name Since we are basing our analysis on its verses, then it is appropriate to start by asking oneself whether the proper name "Quran" is authorized by The God or not. In other words, should the word that people use to describe it be "quran/reading" or "Quran"? First, let's see if the word "quran" is used as a proper name or a common description. One of the ways to do this is to check if there is any occurrence of the word quran in the common form. As we start our analysis, we readily see that the common description "a quran" is used many times throughout the quran. For example the following verses make it clear that "quran" simply means "reading" and is not a proper name A.L.R., these are the signs of the book, and a clear reading/quran. And a reading/quran that We have separated, so that you may explain it for the people over time; and We have brought it down gradually. We did not teach him poetry, nor does he need it. This is a reminder and a profound reading/quran. Say "It has been inspired to me that a group of Jinn were listening." They said "We have heard a magnificent reading/quran!" No, it is a glorious reading/quran. And when Our clear revelations are recited to them, those who do not wish to meet Us said "Bring a reading/quran other than this, or change it!" Say "It is not for me to change it from my own accord, I merely follow what is inspired to me. I fear if I disobey my Lord the retribution of a great day!" In verse 1015, please note that the messenger didn't object to the rejecters using the common description and only objected to making any changes to the reading/quran on his own. Similarly, there are many verses that use the common description to denote that what The God sent down is an Arabic reading We have sent it down an Arabic reading/quran, perhaps you will be logical. And it was such that We sent it down as an Arabic reading/quran, and We cited in it many warnings, perhaps they will become forethoughtful or it will cause for them a remembrance. A reading/quran in Arabic, without any crookedness, that they may be forethoughtful. 411-3. H. M. A revelation from the Almighty, Most Merciful. A book whose signs are detailed, a reading/quran in Arabic for people who know. And had We made it a non-Arabic reading/quran, they would have said "If only its verses were made detailed!" Non-Arabic or Arabic, say "For those who believe, it is a guide and healing. As for those who disbelieve, there is a deafness in their ears, and they are blind to it. These will be called from a place far away" And thus We have inspired to you an Arabic reading/quran, so that you may warn the capital town and all around it, and to warn about the day of summoning that is inevitable. A group will be in the garden, and a group in hell. We have made it into an Arabic reading/quran, perhaps you may understand. There are some verses that use the word "quran" to describe other readings, which is yet another indication that it must be a common description as opposed to a proper name And if a reading/quran were to be used to move mountains, or to cut away the land, or the dead were spoken to with it. No, to The God is all matters. Did not those who believe know that had The God willed He would have guided all the people? As for those who reject, they continue to be stricken with disaster or it comes near to their houses, until The God?s promise comes true. The God does not break His appointment. Say "If all the humans and the "jinn" were to gather to bring a reading/quran like this, they could not come with its like, even if they were helping one another." In the above verses, the word "quran" is used to describe hypothetical readings other than the ultimate reading/quran we know. Hence, we see that "quran" is used as a common description and not a proper name. There are also many instances where the reading/quran is pointed to by saying "this" ("hatha" in Arabic). The use of "this" to specify the reading/quran further confirms that reading/quran is not a proper name but is a common description. For example This reading/quran could not have been produced without The God, but it is to authenticate what is already present, and detailing of the book in which there is no doubt, from the Lord of the worlds. We relate to you the best stories through what We have inspired to you in this reading/quran; and before it you were of those who were unaware. This reading/quran guides to that which is more upright, and it gives glad tidings to the believers who do good work that they will have a bountiful reward. And We have cited to mankind in this reading/quran of every example, but most of mankind refuse anything except rejection. This is an honorable reading/quran. And We have cited in this reading/quran so they may remember, but it only increases their aversion. See also verses such as 619, 1854, 2530, 2776, 3058, 3431, 3927, 4126, 4331, 5921. There are other verses that talk about "the quran" ("al-quran&quot (see 2185, 482, 5101, 7204, 9111, 1061, 1587, 1591, 1698, 1745-46, 1760, 1778, 1782, 212, 21114, 2532, 271, 276, 2792, 2885, 362, 381, 4629, 4724, 501, 5045, 5417, 5422, 5432, 5440, 552, 734, 7320, 7623, 8421). For example 1745-46. And when you read the reading/quran, We place between you and those who do not believe in the hereafter an invisible barrier. And we place shields over their hearts, so they should not understand it, and a deafness in their ears. And if you mention your Lord in the reading/quran alone, they run away giving their backs in aversion. In this case, if we didn't have all the verses that talk about "a reading/quran" in the common sense, it would have been a little more difficult to assess whether "the reading/al-quran" is in the common or the proper form. However, given the fact that the reading/quran from The God doesn't have any inconsistencies we can safely say that those instances where the reading/al-quran is mentioned, it is also in the common meaning. For example, when somebody tells you to meet him at the restaurant while you are standing in front of a restaurant, then "the restaurant" is this restaurant that you are standing in front of and it is not the proper name of the establishment. Similarly, when verses speak about the reading/quran while you are reading a reading/quran, then this reading/quran is the one you are reading and not a proper name. In fact given that it is established to the reader as we saw above in many verses that the reading/quran is "this reading/quran" that he/she is currently reading, then saying "the reading/quran" is a device for implying that what the reader is reading is the "ultimate" reading/quran.

The arabic word used is ALAA... and it means ON... I'm not sure how 100% that is, or at least not literally "on" something, e.g. see 231, 280.

Peace, This is going to be a bit difficult to try to explain to you but I will try. The demonstratives in Arabic in short are dhalika, hadhaa and dhaa. Variations of these based on tense and gender are u'laa, haa-ulaa', hadhaan, tilka, hadhihi and dhee. As you can see what all of the first three have in common is 'dhaa.' This is the root of these demonstratives. We find in the Quran also dhaalikum, dhalikumaa and even dhalikunna. I will explain why. the lika or dhalika is from laka (to/for you). The haa on the front of hadhaa is what is called haa at-tanbih. or the haa of attention. In Arabic there really is no difference between this and that. Even in English the two can sometimes be interchangeable. When you take a Modern Arabic class you learn that hadhaa means this and dhalika means that, but this is a ridiculous oversimplification. Especially when you start reading older texts and read the Quran seriously. In short hadhaa can mean this or that, and dhalika can also mean this or that. Hadhaa is typically used for closer obects in Modern Arabic but you will see the rule broken in the Quran and in older texts. So 'dhaa' means 'what is in sight.' So, 'the book in sight' is dhaal-kitaabu. 'hadhaa' means 'Lo! what is in sight' so 'hadhaal-kitaab' 'Lo!The book in sight.' and dhalika is more like 'what is in your sight.' Again all of this is very literal, but helps to communicate the lack of any real difference between dhalika and hadhaa. This is beyond your basic Arabic, so if you can't see what I mean you don't have to argue me down. Just consider me crazy. It wouldn't be the first time. Godbless, Anwar

Salaam aabdul, I contemplate these issues, also, life is filled with potential, it is the choices we make that determine the ultimate out come, its not predestined, its has a pre-potentiality, the system is truly majestic, I wrote a short poem on the concept of I, thought it may be of interest. I am. I am a reflection of a thought, but reflect on the thought of my reflection. I am nothing, just the tiniest reflection on a calm ocean, yet at the highest extent, I reflect all creation. If I consider well, my ocean mirror shines. If I reflect inanity, ripples twist. I am nothing but the thought of the ocean. Consider well to be a good thought, what mind would hold long to bad. A savoured thought, a pleasure and amusement, I?d labour to be, not a repulsive thought dismissed into the ocean depths of misery.

Salam, Sermons on the occasions of Friday?s congressional prayer, and during all the religious occasions, often recite a verse which is translated thus ?Whoever is guided by Allah cannot go astray, and whoever is misguided by Allah cannot be guided by anyone? Does the above verse say that Allah (mis) guides people at will and whimsically? One must not take a Quranic verse in isolation to study it. The Quran should be studied under topics --- keeping in view all the verses dealing with a certain subject. Please consider the followings Whoever follows My guidance shall have no fear or frustrated depression. And those who reject and deny My signs will be the people with permanent abode in hellfire ? (238-39). The messengers of Allah would bring divine guidance through Revelation to mankind with (the option) ?So whoever wishes can accept it, and whoever so desires, may reject it (1829). These clear verses stand in stark contrast to the verbal interpretation mentioned above of the verse at the head of this chapter. Obviously, it necessitates a deep examination of the situation from the Quranic perspective. Divine Guidance (Revelation) (i) Sura Taha ?Our Preserver is the One who has created all things, then guided them (to their destination)? - (2050). (ii) Sura Al-Aala ?The One who created, then gave (all things their) balance, then set standards (for them), and then guided (them to those laws)? ? (872-3). (iii) Sura Al-Lail ?Certainly, it is Our responsibility to guide? (9212). (iv) Sura Aal-e-Imran ?Tell (them) the (only real) guidance is from Allah? ? (372); also (2120 and 671). Obedience of the Messengers The modus operandi was for Allah to hand His guidance through Revelation to His messengers who then passed it on to men --- ?so that, after the messengers, men cannot blame Allah? ? (4165); ?Or people may not say ?If Allah had guided us, we would have been law-abiding ? ? (137). A messenger?s responsibility was to ?deliver whatever you have received from your Preserver? (567). ?Whatever received from the Preserver? was the Book. The last and final Book of Allah is the Quran which is a guide for all humanity ?By this (book) Allah guides, whoever follows it, on to the right path and brings people out of darkness into light and guides them onto the straight, right way? ? (516). Thus the divine guidance would be delivered to men with ?So whoever is guided, does so for their own selves, and whoever decides to go the wrong way shall bear the consequences? ? (1010; also (3941). People who can be guided It has already been stated that, with the exception of Man, everything in the universe follows a pattern of existence pre-decided by Allah. Man has the option to follow the pattern of life suggested by Allah or reject it. This choice should be exercised in the light of knowledge and reason and adopted entirely independently of any physical, intellectual or psychological compulsion. This is called Iman (conviction). Acceptance of this Message through conviction (rational reasoning) is a pre-requisite for benefiting from it (obtaining guidance). This code of guidance (the Quran) can thus lead mankind through life progressively ? ?Their Preserver guides them because of their conviction? (109). Sura Anaam ?People who are convinced (by this message) and keep their conviction free of wrong (ideas and deeds) are guided? (by it) - (683); Sura Tauba ?Just following the conventional ?good deeds? of one?s society doesn?t bring guidance. It can be obtained by being convinced and following this message (the Quran)? - (919-20); Sura Baqara ?Allah?s Book guides by pointing out the right (correct) in case of disputes? - (2213) - and also ?This book lits the dark path of life and leads the way- ?.. to safety? (2257) ? and again ?People who steadfastly face problems, can get guidance (from it)? ? (2157) - the Quran terms it as ?holding on to the rope of Allah? ? (3101, 3102, 4176). In other words, if one adheres to Allah?s laws against all odds, prosperity and progress open their arms ? (465-6. The Quran has summarized the above in Sura Ankaboot ?Those (people) who strive for Us get guided by Us and Our prosperous path? ? (2669); and also ?Allah increases (the facilities) for those who follow the right path --? (1976). People who cannot be Guided Allah created Man, set an ultimate destination of his life?s journey, guided him to the right path, complete with signposts. Someone who chooses not to read the signposts, or ignores them, cannot be expected to reach his destination. For instance (i) Sura Younis ?Can you (O Messenger!) guide those who choose to Those who walk blindly be blind and not see?? ? (1043). Elsewhere ?O Messenger! You cannot make the dead listen (to you) nor those who play deaf; nor can you guide the blind. You can only deliver the message to those who are willing to be convinced and accept it? ? (2780-81); (3052-53). Also ?One cannot talk to those who plug their ears shut? ? (317). Sura Faater ?The blind and the sighted cannot be the same just as darkness and light are not; sunshine and shade are not the same as not are the dead and the living. O Messenger! You cannot talk to the dead in their graves. Only those will listen who want to? ? (3519-22). Sura Nahal ?O Messenger! Despite your strong desire, how can Allah guide those who choose to go the wrong way?? ? (1637). Also ?How can Allah guide those who do not accept the truth of His message?? (16104); ?those who reject it and persuade others to de likewise? ? (4107). Sura Qasas ?O Messenger! These people don?t answer your call because they want to follow their lowly drives. Just imagine, who can be more misguided than the one who follows his drives without the guidance from Allah? The wrong-doers cannot benefit from the divine message? ? (2850); (3029). A transgressor (&#1602 is one who breaks the pattern of life required by The Transgressors Allah?s message and loses its protective and preservant environment, much in the way of a decaying fruit. Such people ? the transgressors (&#1606 ? cannot hope to be guided by Allah (510; (226); (924). Sura Saff ?When they transgress, Allah (?s Law of Returns) turns their hearts away; Allah doesn?t guide transgressors? -- (615). Finally, here is the verse which very clearly says it all ?(Just think) How can Allah guide the people who reject His message after having accepted it? They had observed that the Messenger has brought the Truth very clearly; Allah doesn?t guide the unfair people!? ?(385). It is important to note that the expression ?How can Allah guide such people?? does not refer to an eternally hopeless situation. As long as a group keeps on the wrong path, they cannot hope to arrive at their destination. But when they decide to look for, and choose, Allah?s path, their chances of success increase ? (O Messenger) keep reminding them through the Quran that they are following a path of calamities (so that no one is doomed just because nobody invited them to the right path)? ? (670). Allah has sealed their hearts The Quran illustrates this in a variety of ways, some of which have already been mentioned. Consequences are natural results of Man?s own actions. Allah attributes them to Himself because they occur according to His Law of Returns. Let us now examine the verses containing such phrases as ?Allah seals their hearts?. (i) Among the opening verses of Sura Baqara are (conventionally translated as) ?It does not matter to the Rejecters whether you (O Messenger) warn them or not. They will never accept (the Message). Allah has sealed their hearts and ears and covered their eyes. They are in for a big punishment? ? (26-7). It naturally leads to the dilemma. If the non-Muslims are not going to accept the Message, why bother? Moreover, it is all done by Allah, so why punish them? The Quran is free of such conflicts because i. a People who wish to embark on a safe journey to life?s destination may, and do, get to the heart of this divine guidance and, therefore, are successful --- (22-5). i. b But those who resolve not to listen to, or care about the Message, cannot benefit from it. They close their eyes and ?ignore the Right Book in favor of wrong books? (21; they (play and) become dumb, deaf and blind and just don?t heed the calls for a return to the right path ? (216); they are like sheep, mindlessly following the one in the front. They reject suggestions to apply reason and logic to review their stance with ?but we will follow the path on which we found our ancestors (even if they were wrong!) (2170). They are just like sheep ignoring their shepherd ? ?dumb, deaf, blind and mindless? ? (2171). Such are the ones whose hearts get sealed ? ?They don?t listen to your invitation to guidance; you can see them staring at you but they are not looking!? -- (719; ?It is the same to such people if you call them or say nothing!? (7193). (ii) ?These people stubbornly stick to their decision of rejecting the Message? (1074); ?that is how We seal the hearts of such people? (1074); ?they boast about their ?draped hearts? but, actually, Allah has sealed their hearts because of their mentality of rejection? (40155). (iii) Then there are those who reject the Message without any reasoning ? that is how Allah seals the hearts of the arrogantly stubborn (4035). They sit to hear the Messenger absent-mindedly and later have to ask other attendees as to what the Messenger was saying. ?Such are the people whose hearts are sealed by Allah because they follow their own selfish drives? (4716). They arrogantly make fun of the warnings of the Messenger dismissing his call as ?nothing but stories from the past --- ?they are the ones whose hearts get wrapped (in ignorance) and their ears plugged shut? (625). They very rudely dismiss the call of the Messenger with ?Our hearts are draped and our ears plugged shut, so your call doesn?t get through to us; there is a barrier between you and us; therefore, you do what you have to do while we do what we have to? (415), ?don?t you worry about us!? Such are the people whose hearts get draped and their ears close shut? (1457). They not only reject the Message themselves but also try to dissuade others, too ?That is how Allah seals the hearts of those who do not know!? (3058-59). ?Thus Allah seals the hearts of those who do not employ knowledge and reason ? an invisible barrier is put up between such people and the Quran! (1745-46). (iv) Then there are those who pay lip-service to the cause of the Message but have not intention of really committing themselves. The Quran refers to them as The Hypocrites - - (the hypocrites). Sura Tauba refers to their evading tactics to avoid having to enter a battlefield in the service of Allah ? these are ones who have ?Their hearts sealed by Allah because they don?t know (the Truth)? ? (993; 986-87; 4720-23). It is important to note that these Quranic pronouncements are by no means restricted in time. Of course, they refer to the hypocrites at the time but they contain eternal truths. People who just say that they accept the Message, but don?t really do it from the bottom of their hearts, are not Momin (convinced) ?Have you noticed the one who chooses as his god his own lowly drives? He goes astray despite having knowledge (and reason). (Consequently,) Allah seals his ears and heart, and covers his eyes closed. He can?t find guidance anywhere but with Allah? ? (4523). ?Say, who can guide the one who thus rejects Allah?s guidance? Such people ignore their future for shot-term benefits, which blind them. That?s how their ears and hearts are sealed? ? (16106-10. (v) Sura Younis ? verse (367-10) are conventionally translated thus ?Allah?s work has come true for many of them. They will never accepts the Call. We have put high collars (of slavery) on them so that their chins are forced up. We have put up barriers in front of, as well as behind, them. We have blinded them by putting a drape over them. Therefore, it doesn?t matter to them whether you warn them or not. They will never accept (the Message). We have already discussed this verse except the opening part ( ?. &#1606 which is said to confound readers because it supports the concept of pre-destiny Allah?s Word Comes True (?they will never accept the Message?). The confusion arises from the basically erroneous concept of compulsion. The words ?Allah?s word has come true? should be interpreted as Allah?s law is that Truth does not reveal itself to those who do not employ knowledge and reason to look for it. That is why these people will not accept the Message. ?Confusion comes to the ones who do not use their intellect? ? (10100). Their condition proves that Allah?s law (word) is true. ?Surely, warnings can benefit only the one who follows Allah?s advice and is afraid (watchful) of the hitherto unrealized consequences of (man?s wrong action which result according to the Law of Returns of) Allah? ? (3611). Sura A?raaf (Conventionally translated) ?And We have created a lot of Jinns (1) and Men for Hell! Supports the concept of pre-destiny? No. The rest of the Created for Hell verse clears the confusion ?They possess hearts but don?t use them for thinking, they have eyes but don?t use them to look, they have ears but don?t use them to hear. They are the ones who are like animals, nay, even worse ? they are ignorant (and non-caring about the purpose of life) ? ? (7179). Elsewhere in the Quran When such people enter Hell, the overseer will inquire as to their crimes. They will respond ?If only we had listened (to Allah?s messengers) or used our brains, we wouldn?t have been among the people of Hell!? ? (6710). Sura Mohammed ?Don?t they ponder over the Quran? Have their hearts locked themselves shut?? ? (4724). Please note the very important suffix - - (of them) with the word - - (locks) in this verse. It very clearly shows that men seal Their Hearts Lock Themselves their own hearts shut to calls of reason. Elsewhere, the same idea is put in other words ?When they went crooked, Allah crooked their hearts? (His law of Returns did it) ? (615; 519; 9127). Finally, Sura Al-Tatfeef which clarifies the phrase ?Allah has sealed their hearts? beyond any shadow of a doubt. It says Men?s own deeds act as result ?No, it?s not like that! But (the reality is that) their hearts get rusted because of their own deeds! (8314). Whoever So wishes, accept and whoever so wishes, reject <op></op> One of the basic principles of the Quranic system is ?there is no compulsion in the matter of ?ad-Deen? (adopting a philosophy of life) as guidance has been shown very clearly apart from mis-guidance. So, whoever rejects all else, and accepts Allah?s way, will be adhering to a strong support which will never fail him ??.? (2256). Man?s freedom of choice is not curbed even by Allah himself. The Messenger used to worry about the future of the people and anxiously wanted them to accept. He was told by Allah that He would have created Man bound to natural law like the rest of the universe. But, it was not His plan (&#1577. So, people cannot be forced into conviction. It is entirely upto them to accept or reject the Message (1099). ?Tell them that your Preserver has sent down the Truth to you. Whoever chooses the right path, shall benefit; whoever chooses the wrong path, shall bear its consequences. You have not been appointed a foreman over them to force them into submission!? (1010. Every convinced person (&#1606 should be aware of this fact (that Allah would have created men to willy-nilly follow His path of if it was His plan (&#1577 ? (11118; 1331; 169; 1693; 3213; 4213). Even the Messenger?s genuine desire for someone to accept the Message doesn?t change the principle of free choice --- (2856). Allah has given Man free will. Therefore, the Messenger should deliver the Message to people and say ?Whoever so wishes, accept; whoever so wishes, reject? ? (1829). ?We created Man, gave him listening and sight, and showed him the way. Now, it is upto men to accept or reject it? ? (763). ?The Quran is a reminder. So, whoever wishes to, may recall (the Truth through it)? ? (8011-12). ?We have showed him both the (good and bad) ways. So, whoever so wishes, should take his Preserver?s way? ? (7319; also 2557). Allah gave Man eyes and provided light (the Quran) to see very clearly both the (right and wrong) paths --- ?Whoever looks, will have benefits for his own self; whoever (chooses to) be blind, will bear the consequences of that action ---? (6105). ?And no one shall carry someone?s load ? ? (1715). ?No one shall carry someone else?s load; whoever takes the right path, shall have no fear or frustration ---? (238; 20123). ?If you are on the right course, the wrong-doer won?t be able to hurt you. They will only hurt themselves --- ? (5105). The polytheist assert that they are what they are due to Allah?s will was responded by ?Allah does not misguide anyone? ? (6149, 150); 1635,36; 4320). ?They misguide themselves? ? (6141). The fact is that just as Allah doesn?t misguide anyone, He doesn?t force anyone onto the right course against their will (1637). Therefore, it is Man who does it. Allah doesn?t force the right or the wrong on anyone. It is entirely Man?s own free choice ( &#1569. (1829) Sura Nahal a verse which is the final word on the matter. ?If Allah had so desired, He would have created all of you as one group; but He misleads or guides whoever wishes so --- and surely you will be held responsible for your deeds!? ? (1693). Obviously, Man has the freedom of choice; hence his accountability. This is precisely the argument presented by Iblees when he denied his responsibility for disobedience ?You (Allah) have misguided me!? ? (716; 1539). That is the stance of Devil not Man! A Review It is erroneous to take the position that Allah (mis)guides people at will and whimsically. Therefore, one must not take a Quranic verse in isolation to study it. The Quran should be studied under topics --- keeping in view all the verses dealing with a certain subject. Be reminded that wherever the Quran, in regards to human social system, mentions Allah the doer, it really mean that occurrences take place according to His laws and plan. (&#1577 For instance, have another look at some verses (i) Sura Beni Israel (1797-9 Conventional Translation ?Only he can be guided whom Allah guides; one who is misled by Allah has not hope but He; On the Judgment Day, We shall raise him face down, deaf, dumb and blind. Hell will be the abode for such people. That is their lot because they denied Our signs. Suggested Interpretation Whoever accepts the validity of Allah?s laws is guided; whoever refuses to accept them just cannot find the right path (because guidance to the right path is available nowhere else). Such arrogant and ignorant decisions keep men misguided and hence in a state of hell. (ii) Sura Al-An?aam (639) Conventional Translation (of a part of the verse) is ?Allah mis-leads whomever He desires, and guides whomever He wishes onto the right path?. Suggested Interpretation ?(Mis) Guidance occurs according to Allah?s law and plan (&#1577. It is men?s choice to adopt the right or the wrong path?. The plan (&#1577 is mentioned in the earlier part of the verse ?Those who deny our Message remain (in the dark because they choose to be) deaf and dumb?. (iii) Sura Ar-Rome (3029) Conventional Translation ?Who can guide the one misled by Allah? Suggested Interpretation (The earlier part of the verse explains it) ?These unfair (people) so ignorantly keep following their own animalistic drives. Now, who can guide such people? Sura Tauba ?It is not befitting for Allah to mislead people after having sent them His guidance for a watchful life? (9115) ?Those who struggle and strive for Us, We guide them to our ways ? ? (2969). This is the established system of the Quran. Wassalam bravo

The "distortion" is the statement by satan that He will command those who listen to him to distort the religion which God has deemed for man. The distortions of Gods law that you see practised today is proof that many do not believe in the creation (Quran) of God, therefore they accept a distorted viewpoint. This is a statement of faith, not material that is why the end of the ayat reads "Anyone who accepts the devil as a lord, instead of GOD, has incurred a profound loss." I hope this explanation is helpful. Peace.

Permitted for you is sexual intercourse with your wives during the nights of fasting. They are the keepers of your secrets, and you are the keepers of their secrets. GOD knew that you used to betray your souls, and He has redeemed you, and has pardoned you. Henceforth, you may have intercourse with them, seeking what GOD has permitted for you. You may eat and drink until the white thread of light becomes distinguishable from the dark thread of night at dawn. Then, you shall fast until sunset. Sexual intercourse is prohibited if you decide to retreat to the Masjid (during the last ten days of Ramadan). These are GOD's laws; you shall not transgress them. GOD thus clarifies His revelations for the people, that they may attain salvation. an easy understanding Peace

Read your Quran. There is no commandment prohibiting plucking eyebrows or tatoos or clipping fingernails or wearing certain underwear or lotioning your feet or brushings your teeth or wearing your hair in locks or piercing your ears or nose this religion is not hard to understand.

Peace, Respectfully. I'd say that the Real Victory is when you conquer yourself. When someone makes you angry but you don't get angry, you are actually winning. When someone insults you and you remain calm, that's victory. I've seen people get really surprised when they see the unexpected. Peace.

I thought this will be evaluated critically since this "Root" is the very purpose of the Book.

Thanks for admitting he was being "offensive", calling people names etc. You even admit he was banned before, for the same thing I might add. We actually gave him a 2nd chance, knowing he was posting again, to see if he had changed his ways, but it seems he couldn't resist offending people, name-calling etc. And as for your other baseless conjecture no-one as long as I have been moderator has ever been banned for speaking on controversial issues, or because the truth hurt. If that ever did happen, I would resign as moderator, and I am sure other mods would too. Personally, I love being corrected/learning, and you will often find me thanking the person who clarified/corrected my view. Any long term member of this site, such as yourself, will know moderators/admin often disagree on topics, but as long as Quranic etiquette is followed, evidence presented etc it's all good between us. The golden rule keep it constructive, not destructive. Okay, I can agree with that. We should definately all try to be constructive, not destructive...

Anyway aside from all that I said, can anyone show me a verse or verses from the Quran that is against complaining to God, or complaining about God? In other words if misfortune befalls you is it a sin to think God disgraced you? Of course he would prefer that you are still thankful but I was just wondering if complaining is anti-Quranic. My current guess is yes it is.

Does anyone here knows why the Sunnis and Shias parted their ways? First and foremost Sunnis and Shias followed the same truth (that is the Quran) but then what was the point of difference or what had changed since the life of the prophet that after the death of the prophet they decided to part their ways. Both sects parted their ways because they preferred to follow a different system rather than the fact they differed on the truth(that is the Quran) which was given to them. The Shias believed in a system based upon two things the 'infallible imam' and the 'Blind following' the same system that was followed by the Egyptians and the Rabbanic jews and the Catholics/Eastern orthodox and finally the Shias. The Infallible Imam is the only one who can interpret the Quran and make it known to the people. The Sunnis on the other hand followed a system based upon two things 'Independent Reasoning' and 'Consensus of the community' a system that was followed by the Greeks/Romans, Karaite Jews, Protestants and finally the Sunnis. This system on the other hand depended upon interpretation by the learned scholars. This is how it worked. The Sunni scholars interpreted their religion with the changing circumstances of the time and updated their laws according to the changing times. This process of interpretation of the Quran and updating the law according to changing times was known as the 'Living Sunnah'. When imam shafi came on the scene he literally and single handedly destroyed this process by declaring that there is no such thing as the 'Living Sunnah' but Sunnah is an Ideal Sunnah which gave birth to the idea of making Hadith or interpretations of the earliest generations of Islam as a source of Law, which it never was. They were just interpretations or in other words human activity which was bound to have some errors in them as to say to err is to human. Suffice to say this led to people believing that all they had to do is to follow the hadith which was understood to be the explanation of the Quran. From this time onwards the Suuni system started to decline until finally a time came when the rulers of the time declared that apart from the four interpreters there is no one else to be followed and that there will be no interpretations from so on forth. Independent reasoning was totally outlawed by a decree popularly known as the closing of the gates of Ijtihad. After that Sunnis became worse than the Shias in their ignorance. That is the reason when you ask a Sunni he will reply that you should not think in matters of religion but follow the earliest interpreters since we are ignorant and they were wise. The Sunnis abandoned their system based upon 'Indpendent Reasoning' and 'Consensus of the community' at the behest of Imam Shafi and started following the Shia system of 'infallible imam' and the 'Blind following'. The Sunnis of today glorify their Imams(past) in their mosques and praise the wisdom of the earliest interpreters and other than that sit on their butts do nothing and follow baseless rituals and rites. The original Sunnis that came before Imam Shafi were a different class altogether. What we need to do is to convince the Sunnis of today is to revive the original system and to abandon the system of ignorance based upon the ('infallible imam' and the 'Blind following&#039 they are following. Hadith is simply a part of a wrong system the sunnis seem to be following, they just need to be convinced that interpretations are not binding they are either relevant or not relevant anymore. For interpretations to be valid they need to be in line with the quran and the changing circumstances of the time. Your views are welcome

I already had the answer to this because it is pretty straight forward, but it was just a way to outline it so that it can touch others as well. Thanks Mazhar for your response. Thanks, yes I know. I just thought to put it in legal/technical parlance.

Peace Joker Peace, I agree that the 'no compulsion' is often taken out of context. Agreed-- not voluntary for al-mumineen. But, the question is what is ad-deen? From what I've noticed of your other posts, you don't view it as a religion, which I agree with. Define members? Since al kafireen can be part of our system also, which makes them our brothers (9/11-13). Should they? no. It is a choice for those who don't fall under 'al mumineen'. We can't force them to give, which I take from 10/99. Furthermore, chapter 107 is vital on the subject. That is, encouraging feeding the poor, etc... Regarding 911-13, I think you have to look at it from 96 or even 91 to understand what the reason for the cessation of hostilities is. In my opinion it is clear that it is a period for reasonable discussion with the mushrikeen. If you look at the verses from 96, you will see that there a few things that they must repent for/from (this would mean not returning to their former ways which would include their "shirk&quot for them to be considered your brothers. Also, it would require establishing the salat & being part of a community that provides zakat to its members. I don't believe that those who don't recognise the right of others in their wealth can participate in being part of a community that provides zakat to its members. Looking at this has actually brought up some interesting points in these verses regarding covenants that I must look into before I can give you a full response, but above is my general understanding (at present) drawn from my study of the issue. As for 1099, freedom of choice extends only to the system you choose to follow, not what you are permitted/not permitted to do within that system. If we look back to 1098, we see that there is only one community that is mentioned as having accepted the truth, & as a result were given a life of comfort for a time (as long as they, as a community, followed the laws of God). I will post some more on this GW, once I have studied what I have noticed regarding covenants in chapter 9. Imraan
