Wallace is trying to brainwash you, by speaking the words of God and then invoke his own words.
His view of Fasting is based on a misunderstanding of 2-184 and 185; thus he is normal humanbeing who might make mistakes sometimes.

Once a intention for a certain number of days ( 3, 10,or 30 ) days has been formed, one should fast the full 3,10,or 30 days. The submitter has a choice of fasting for more than three days but are not obligated to...
Once a muslim begins with intention to fast a certain number of days, it becomes obligatory upon him to complete it. If he breaks it he becomes a sinner and shall have to make up on different days...so if u sunnis intend to fast 30 days then u shall complete it, and if u intend to fast 3, or ten days then u shall complete the count....God will hold each of u for what u intend...
and im not done with this yet, im still gatherin the details for Rahmadan... But this is my view thus far... and im usually right about these things... but hey, i could be wronge... but I dont think so...

And now you're saying your mission is to teach us about Ramadhan??? The God gives us the answers to the issues we dispute about. Claiming to be a messenger of God (Allah), you can't give your personal opinion on matters and expect us to follow your personal advice. Do you say about God what you don't know?

Anything other than that is innovation and speculation...

Bring the Quran and show us that we are required to fast a certain number of fixed days ( 10, or 30 days ).
We all know that a " few " acually means 3 or 4, and it coulod mean just allittle more than that, but not too much more...Now bring your evidence that im wronge...
And yes, Rahmadan is the month of fasting, therefore everyday of Rahmadan is a fasting day, but we dont have to fast the full 30 days, we are only required to fast for a " few" days within ramadan...

How do you know that The God won't inflict His judgement upon those who don't fast/abstain? Has God told you this? You are only speculating, you don't know for sure how many days we're instructed to abstain. So, how can you tell us how many YOU THINK we should fast? Do you speak about The God what you do not know?

in verse (2-184) means COUNTED DAYS and NOT FEW DAYS.

(1.)It has been made lawful for you during the night of fasting to approach your women sexually. They are a garment for you and you are a garment for them. God knows that you used to betray your souls so He has accepted your repentance, and forgiven you; now you may approach them and seek what God has written for you. And you may eat and drink until the white thread is distinct from the black thread of dawn; then you shall complete the fast until night; and do not approach them while you are devoted in the temples. If God wished, He would show them to you so that you could recongnize them by their looks ( The 30 day fasters, or the ten day fasters, or the three day fasters), however, you can recongnize them by their speech...
( Believers , when you fast dont be like them show offs... Dont let anyone know you are fasting or how many days you are fasting... Do it in private, Your Lord knows what is done in private. And He will reward you for it... I assure you that them show-offs already have their reward. )
And the truth has come from your Lord, so whosoever is guided is only being guided for himself and whosoever is misguided will remain so; and I am not a caretaker over you...
I personally believe that this is a blessing from our Lord... Recall when God united your hearts, when you were enemys...Then you became as brothers...
And Rahmadan is here, and clarity has come to you all in this matter... That however many days you intend to fast... To all you 30 day fasters, and to all you 10 day fasters, and to those who fast 3 days or more... You will be held accoutable for your intention, so if you intend to fast 30 days, then u better fast it and if you break it you become a sinner and it must be made up on different days to complete the count... And this goes for those who intend to fast 3 - 10 days and so on also...

in each case..remains the same conclusion you must make a decision..which will it be?

Are we advancing / progressing...or are we with a bar in front and behind and merely standing still, contemplating our fantasies of wanting to believe and submit.
Looking at the behavior and speech of many here and other forums...I do get worried...self righteous...or freedom from shirk...to associated with Allah comes thru not understanding his plan and purpose...and I am one who if I do not understand...KNOW that Allah remains the same and has control over everything...all day and night...never ending.

You learn to appreciate the value of food and how all those people must feel who face famine or shortage of food.
You develop resistance to hunger and thirst and thus grow in patience and strenght.
2249 So when Talut departed with the forces, he said Surely Allah will try you with a river; whoever then drinks from it, he is not of me, and whoever does not taste of it, he is surely of me, except he who takes with his hand as much of it as fills the hand; but with the exception of a few of them they drank from it. When I think of fasting, it means not eating at anytime during the 24 hour period. Really you are just rearranging your meal schedule. Fastng for 12 hours every 12 hours.
During Lent people give up things completely, not just during the day, but at night too.

Regarding this issue of Rahmadan, can we aggree that there has been a dispute regarding the number of days? Some believe it to be 3-10 days of fasting for the month, and traditionally and many believe we are to fast the whole month... Right?
What I have done is reconcile between the different parties with these different views, that whatever your belief is regarding this matter, you will be held accountable for the number of days you intend to fast... weather you are a 3-10 day believer or a 30 day believer... Then God will gather us all together and judge us reagarding what we have disputed...
Everything that I have taught on this matter was due to my understanding of the translation... Therefore if the translation is correct then everything stands, and if not then things will change...
This is only a message to the differt beliefs in this matter, that God is fully aware of who is best guided to the path...
