Beating wife theory is negated by Qur'aan=4:34

Peace QS,
You are giving wrong example too. Jonah, Job, Aaron, and Solomon are being mentioned after Jesus in your quoted sign, which proves it is not sequential. Of course all the remedies cannot be done at exactly the same time and obviously they are done at different times but not necessarily in the sequence mentioned. What I meant by "at the same time" was that they all should be done and not necessarily in the sequence mentioned. I apologize for my unclear statement of "at the same time". What I meant was those remedies are not sequential in the sequence mentioned and all have to be done for the "nushuz" being feared. No more comments from me on this issue.

peace QS,
The meaning of hindered/prevent/restrain etc are from Lane, see pdf pages, specifically
http//www.studyquran.org/LaneLexicon/Volume5/00000064.pdfIt's not exactly difficult to find it.
I have also added the dictionaries used as you asked about it in another thread, see the PRL homepage.
What verses were you referring to with your previous example? What chapter?
Dear Brother
Thanks for co-operation.
You can call it as my "mistake" but I could not find this meaning on the page you mentioned.
Would you please tell the column number of this page on which it is mentioned because I fear I might have missed it and approximately zone like upper 1/3 or middle or lower?.

Dear Brother
Again you are mistaken.Who said that "waw" shows sequence? I did not say that.
Our contention was "simultaneous" or non -simultaneous" occurence shown by "waw".
Sequence was not under discussion at all. That is your after thought.Regards

Men are protectors/caretakers of women with/because of what Allah has bestowed peculiarity/individuality to some over some and for reason that they have spent their wealth. The wife has surfaced from the Bed Rood. The strained and suspended intimate matrimonial relations have become evident to the members of family of wife and husband. Now the next stage is for others to attempt resolving their problem.
http//haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/004.%20An%20Nisa/temp%2014%20%204.35c.gif
And if you people apprehend that it might result in partition/separation between them two coupled,
http//haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/004.%20An%20Nisa/temp%2014%20%204.35d.gif
then for reason of attempting reconciliation you people appoint a revivalist from husband's family and one reconciler from wife's family so that if they two have the intention of straightening the affairs Allah will foster harmony amongst the two.
http//haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/004.%20An%20Nisa/temp%2014%20%204.35e.gif
Indeed Allah is eternally The Knowledgeable and Aware of what is secreted and manifest.http//haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/004.%20An%20Nisa/temp%2014%20%204.34g.gif
Therefore righteous women remain sincerely straight; they themselves guard, in the absence of them when they are away from sight, what Allah has protected
http//haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/004.%20An%20Nisa/temp%2014%20%204.34m.gif
And if you husbands fear of their untoward/inappropriate conduct
http//haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/004.%20An%20Nisa/temp%2014%20%204.34a.gif
then for reason of so happening politely and lovingly advise such of them in the first instance,
http//haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/004.%20An%20Nisa/temp%2014%20%204.34b.gif
and distance/shift them away from yourselves inside the bed rooms
http//haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/004.%20An%20Nisa/temp%2014%20%204.34n.gif
and you people make them surfaced/evident/move them out from the bed rooms .
http//haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/004.%20An%20Nisa/temp%2014%20%204.34k.gif
Resultantly/therefore/for reason if they accepted your word then do not pursue to find excuses against them.
http//haqeeqat.org.pk/English%20Tafsir%20e%20Haqeeqat/00.Arabic%20Text/004.%20An%20Nisa/temp%2014%20%204.034.gif

yea well husband beaters deseve to be put away in prison. here where I live the man is charged and the women can take out an intervetion order to keep that troll away. and it is not in married couples only many non married couples are living together and the male partner bashes his girlfriend I have seen it first hand I lived next door to a bloke that was bashing his miss's. Not all men are dogs but most are. Thank goodness I am single. but I also know some of my old friends are still happly married after years and no religion involved. I also know many christians who have been married for over 50 years and still going strong.

I read bits of it. but show me a verse in the bible where it says for a husband to slap his wife? and I willturn away. come on somebody show me a verse that it says Husbands slap your wifes if she disobeys. if you cannot find one then it is mans theory not God's. Men who do this should be put behind bars, and he will probally get a bashing in prison 10 fold anyway now that is vengence oh and Vengence is from God too now that will be worse.

It would appear that you are as different from "main stream" Muslims as I am from "main stream" Christians. I'm glad I found you all.

peace QS,
It is 1st column on left, middle.
Peace Brother
First of all I thank you for the help. But this meaning of "Prevention or Prohibition" is not that of "" but of " " which has meaning of "He struck his hand" but figuratively it has two meanings
1He struck a bargain
2He prevented himIf the Quranic verse would have been " then this translation would have been absolutely perfect. This is an idiomatic expression and The Quran is NOT USING IT IN THE DISPUTED VERSE MEANINGS.
Regards -
"The book of the 3ain" by al Khaleel ibn Ahmad, the first classical dictionary, gives these meanings for the word "dharaba" (sorry, in Arabic). Inerestingly, none means "to strike"; some mean, indirectly to strike with a sword

Peace,
In marriage, a women must obey her husband in all marital issues in exchange to the gift and caretaking done by the husband. He has the upper hand.
Nushuz means total rebellion and disregard of the husband. Nushuz doesn't come immediately but in stages.
If you fear your wife is going to a state of nushuz, you must act, otherwise, she will disregard you completely ie. Nushuz.
To avoid nushuz, doing the three steps including beating, the final and corporeal punishment, is enough to avoid nushuz.
Peace,
Rami

peace QS,
I never said this is the meaning of DRB in 434.
I am hesitant of coupling meanings to prepositions in the sense that it cannot mean anything else but XYZ with this preposition, but we can add notes to various meanings in PRL, as it is a work in progress. I have made a note of it.
Perhaps you can help out with something. Are there any examples of beat or strike by a human against another human in which no additional clarifying words or prepositions are used in any Classical Arabic dictionary? What I have personally noticed on this topic is the shocking lack of information there is from Classical Arabic dictionaries in the articles for those who advocate "beat" or even "strike".
