      Allaha AAalakulli shay-in qadeerun

      kulli shay-in qadeerun

The noun / verbal noun related to this meaning is "qudra /power " not "qadr/measure/decree". Each relates to a different verb form of the same root
Form I yaqdir to be able/ have power
Form II yugaddir to measure; decide
Both verbs are used in the qur'aan.

      3639

And for the moon We have determined / decreed for it phases till it became like an old shrivelled palm-leaf.

God calls it better than...oh crap I'm about to pm Ayman because it says it's better than a 1000 shahr's! o What does shahr mean now?

And, traditionals due to hadith think praying on this night is as if you prayed a 1000 months straight. LOL.

I mean this could be the correct understanding but this is nowehere in the Quran.

It could simply be that God just likes that particular night.

            Peace.

ok i don't know what so special about it.

but i know what's not. definitely not what hadith say about it. c'mon now. considering how hadith portray god... as some control freak, who wants things to be done so and so and if not .... BAM, hell forever! and on the other hand this same thing they call allah is giving them loopholes, ways to avoid doing things he himself ordered... actually, COMANDED!, by doing something trivial that is somehow of same worth... p-lease... who they kiddin'

Exactly, like marrying up to 4 to be just with orphans and freeing the slave! But no you can do it now if you can afford to and slavery under war is ok, especially enslaving women cuz you can have more seks. nope

LOL and more lol @ the traditional view that SHAVING THE BEARD is part of Satan's promise to "alter the creation of Allah" BUT CIRCUMCISING MALE AND FEMALE BABIES (i.e. amputating part of their god-given genitalia!) is not and instead it is sunnah!!! rotfl o

I would say that the "shahr" in this verse may mean declaration (a version of the original meaning). It's a special night by its own merit that it's better than a 1000 declarations ...
(and qadr, meaning measure, best reflects the value of this night)

                    691
And they measure not the power of Allah its true measure
(this is a good verse to show the meaning of "qadr" as "measure&quot.

I forgot, sorry but this morning from 0200 to fajr salah, i was praying at the mosque with sunnis and they were all crying. I mean, including the imam who had a mike and he even stopped to wipe the tears. I didn't understand but i think he was performing du'a for some poeple like those in Afghanistan and Iraq as well as for the ones in Palestine and Gaza.
Everybody was crying, it was new to me.

                          Peace.

                            Salaam nerspi,

its all based on Surah 97, but it's conventionally translated without using the complete rules of grammar, this is Surah 97 correctly translated,

                            http//servantofthelight.com/content/view/112/144/

people love religion and ritual, while they abandon reason and guidance.

                                    Peace

Has anyone stated when this night is using the Quran only? Or are we to accept that this night is the 27th day of ramadan? I am sure Lailat ul Qadr was twice this year. Some people started fasting one day earlier so for them Lailat ul Qadr was on tuesday and for those who started one day after it was a wednesday. What is obvious to me is that if muslims could not agree to this night as being a fixed night of the year then they are intepreting something wrong from some source or another. Do we have two nights, one night or does it matter? Either one population is wrong or both.
What I would love to see is a big effort put into archaeology in the middle east to maybe give answers to the falsehood that crept into Islam. Probably wont happen.

                                    Peace

                                          Salams all

Lailat ul Qadr is a night special because it is better that than a thousand months. This is because the angels and spirit(Quran) descended with the "Commands" and it ends till the break of dawn(fajr).
The thing is, there is no indication that this shall be an annual event. It has happen in the past and it wont repeat again

                                          salam
