Exactly, like marrying up to 4 to be just with orphans and freeing the slave! But no you can do it now if you can afford to and slavery under war is ok, especially enslaving women cuz you can have more seks. nope

LOL and more lol @ the traditional view that SHAVING THE BEARD is part of Satan's promise to "alter the creation of Allah" BUT CIRCUMCISING MALE AND FEMALE BABIES (i.e. amputating part of their god-given genitalia!) is not and instead it is sunnah!!! rotfl o

I would say that the "shahr" in this verse may mean declaration (a version of the original meaning). It's a special night by its own merit that it's better than a 1000 declarations ...
(and qadr, meaning measure, best reflects the value of this night)

        691
And they measure not the power of Allah its true measure
(this is a good verse to show the meaning of "qadr" as "measure&quot.

              The Power? confused
              Whose translation is this?

              Peace,
              Respectfully.

I forgot, sorry but this morning from 0200 to fajr salah, i was praying at the mosque with sunnis and they were all crying. I mean, including the imam who had a mike and he even stopped to wipe the tears. I didn't understand but i think he was performing du'a for some poeple like those in Afghanistan and Iraq as well as for the ones in Palestine and Gaza.
Everybody was crying, it was new to me.

              Peace.

                Salaam nerspi,

its all based on Surah 97, but it's conventionally translated without using the complete rules of grammar, this is Surah 97 correctly translated,

                http//servantofthelight.com/content/view/112/144/

people love religion and ritual, while they abandon reason and guidance.

                        Peace

Has anyone stated when this night is using the Quran only? Or are we to accept that this night is the 27th day of ramadan? I am sure Lailat ul Qadr was twice this year. Some people started fasting one day earlier so for them Lailat ul Qadr was on tuesday and for those who started one day after it was a wednesday. What is obvious to me is that if muslims could not agree to this night as being a fixed night of the year then they are intepreting something wrong from some source or another. Do we have two nights, one night or does it matter? Either one population is wrong or both.
What I would love to see is a big effort put into archaeology in the middle east to maybe give answers to the falsehood that crept into Islam. Probably wont happen.

                        Peace

                        Hope

                              Salams all

Lailat ul Qadr is a night special because it is better that than a thousand months. This is because the angels and spirit(Quran) descended with the "Commands" and it ends till the break of dawn(fajr).
The thing is, there is no indication that this shall be an annual event. It has happen in the past and it wont repeat again

                                Loli,

Seems that this is unique event happen more than 1000 year ago and might not an annual affair. The intensity of brightness of the full moon or other celestial object in conjunction of this night/period is probably 1000 times more powerful than ordinary full moons of other occasions.

                                Example 1
"On 22 December, 1999, the two effects combined to produce the brightest full Moon of the century"
                                http//www-istp.gsfc.nasa.gov/stargaze/Smoon3.htm

                                Example 2
"There is no doubt it would have been a truly dazzling sight. In the spring of 1006, people could probably have read manuscripts at midnight by its light."
                                http//www.abc.net.au/science/articles/2003/03/07/800470.htm

Probably we can determine the exact year and night when Quran descended. God may leave sign/trace for us to work out

As shown by HST (Hubble Space Telescope) crystal clear images, the scientist can now predict better the age of universe, by understanding past "archeological" evidence by measuring the billion light years celestial objects.

                                Peace, Ashraf

a local researcher here brings this explanation

Lailat ul Qadr happened once for our prophet, and passed. At most we can talk of anniversaries.

Every person has his / her own Lailat ul Qadr, the night he /she first met with Quran.

1000 months is almost the life of a human being.

So meeting with the Quran, has more value than spending a whole lifetime without it.

This is a very interesting explanation - first time I heard something like this.

                                    But

974 The controllers/universal forces (malaikatu) and the divine revelation/knowledge/inspiration (ruh) come down in it by their Lord's leave to carry out every matter.
975 It is peaceful until the coming of dawn.

                                    Isnt it an annual thing?

I am no longer a Sunna-rejecter. See 4:59-65, 62:2-4, 3:31, 4:156, 7:157 Messenger teaches and is to be followed and obeyed. Examples of revelation received which is not in the Qur'an: 3:123-126, 33:37, 2:187, 66:3, 62:9.

he translates 974 using "... come down to inside of the person". he explains 974 as, when a person meets Quran and arranges his /her life accordingly, then "divine revelation/knowledge/inspiration" come down to his /her being / mind / heart and act as a beacon and saves him /her.

he explains 975 as, dawn is the enlightment of the person with "divine revelation/knowledge/inspiration". And the "controllers/universal forces" continue their roles until the coming of dawn.

Thanks for the link. The links also refer to http//www.islamicstudies.info/tafheem.php?sura=53 ( 5310)
But the links just said that unspecified pronoun is common in Quran. So we have to guess what it means.

                                        Thanks. Good point.

                                        Reasonable question.
                                        What else has God descended?

                                        garment 726
But only qur'aan was given a time period for its descent 185
