Nafsin whidatun, Nafs is feminine, therefore in Arabic, is not "his" mate, but "her" mate. Why in English it is made "his", I suppose because it is the generic when we do not know whther something is feminine or masculine, or because we want to mean both.

But the Arabic does not lend itself to make of the nafs a male or a female. God chose "His" words wisely .

As far as I know, HA is only for feminine things.
Look at the translations of chapter 91, very weird. Every verse ends with HA but translators never use HER for HA, but they use HIS or IT.
An exception is made by them only for 9113 and 14 were it's talking about "nakata Allahi" hmm

And to the topic starter this verse is not about Adam.

I understand this verse, that it is talking about a NAFS / Beign, and not a person, it"s ralking about a cell , it get divided to get it's mate
a cell is directly called Sulala in the quran
