Daughters 2/3 = 16/24 (4176)
Father 1/6 = 4/24 (411)
Mother1/6 = 4/24(411)
Total = 27/24=1.125 NOT equal to 1

Woman dies leaving no descendants or ascendants
Husband, (1/2) = 1/2 (412)
Brother (everything) = 2/2(4176)
Total = 3/2 =1.5 NOT equal to 1

Woman dies leaving no ascendants or descendants and no brother
Husband, (1/2) = 3/6 (412, 4176)

Salam,
Quran 411-12 and 4176 state the Qur'anic inheritance law. When a man dies, and is leaving behind three daughters, his two parents and his wife, they will receive the respective shares of 2/3 for the 3 daughters together, 1/3 for the parents together and 1/8 for the wife which adds up to more than the available estate. A second example A man leaves only his mother, his wife and two sisters, then they receive 1/3 , 1/4 and 2/3 , which again adds up to 15/12 of the available property.

So it is your Math that does not add up.

You are forgetting the " if"s. That means you cancel the last share every time the word " if" is mentioned!

You do not add up all the shares? " if" that last one did not exist!

Someone needs to make a program, where you can just punch in the money and the ppl who are going to get the inheritance and then hit calculate... done.
This math kills me. I honestly think I am dividing it up evenly between my sons and daughter and calling it the day. This way I don't have to worry about my sons not taking care of their sister. She will have what she needs without favoring the males of the family.

Peace Indelwyn, there lots of calculators mostly all wrong.

It's best to make out a will since you know your situation.
It's the same if one is unsure when to fast, feed the poor.

There are a couple of inheritance calculators on the net, but they don't really follow the guidelines as set out in the Koran and they provide different results.
The Koran is neither a science text-book nor a maths instruction manual, so I would leave it as spiritual guidance and not expect everything to add up precisely down to 10 decimal places.
