Depending on interpretation, we actually CAN raise our voices above the voice of Muhammad - namely, by looking to our own guidance and opinions rather than his. This Qur'aanic passage, like many others, can have a dual meaning, and it's not only applicable during his lifetime. The same context was relayed in the Bible, spoken by Jesus

No you cannot raise your voice above the prophet's any longer because he is dead. You
may try, but you will fail. Yes the Quran is applicable and a guidance for all of mankind,
but the ayat teaches not to shout or overtalk the prophet. People do not generally raise
their voice over that of the pope either. Please read the context.In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you who believe, do not place your opinion above that of GOD and His messenger.
You shall reverence GOD. GOD is Hearer, Omniscient.O you who believe, do not raise your voices above the voice of the prophet,
nor shall you shout at him as you shout at each other, lest your works become nullified
while you do not perceive.Surely, those who lower their voices at the messenger of GOD are the ones whose
hearts are prepared by GOD to become righteous. They have deserved forgiveness and
a great recompense.As for those who call on you from outside the walls, most of them do not understand.
Had they been patient until you came out to them (takhruja), it would have been better for them. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
This is a lesson for the believers about how to behave in the presence of the
messenger of God.We made the Quran easy to learn. Does any of you wish to learn?

And how exatly are you a Sunni Quran follower? Are you also a Judaic Quran follower or a Christian Quran follwer or is it only a Sunni Quran follower?

Althoutgh hadiths is contradict for Islam as source of law, It can still be used as source of historical account

The problem I have with your position concerning "salat" is the context of the word when used in certain other passages in the Qur'aan. For example
Do you not see that Allah is He Whom do glorify all those who are in the heavens and the earth, and the birds with expanded wings? He knows the "salat" of each one and its glorification, and Allah is knowledgeable of what they do. (Q. 2441)
Obviously, we can't equate "salat" with 'reading', since birds can't read. We also can't equate it with 'prayer', since birds don't perform Islamic prayer rituals, etc. So, how are we to interpret this? How do you define the word "salat" as used in the Qur'aan?Reading written text is a way of learning for humans. Birds read in other ways. They don't read written text but they read the signs of the god in the universe around them, the wind, the rain, the change of seasons, the fruits, etc. The god's signs are not only in the great reading.

Thanks for your response. And, for the record, I totally agree. Coincidentally, the Jews have a very similar outlook, stating that "the greatest Torah is the world around (and within) us." Again, I appreciate your insight.
