Quran just tells the true monotheistic concept, not a Supernatural Being named Allah.

Btw the word Allah and l-ilah is still different words, because merging Al and ilah into "Allah" has no rule in Arabic.

    Salam

Please answer and translate the words so that the word Allah makes sense to anyone.

    Lord may also means God

    Definition of LORD
    capitalized
    a god 1
    b jesus

    Lord
    a. God.
    b. Christianity Jesus.

    Oxford Dictionaries
(Lord) a name for God or Christ
    give thanks to the Lord

    Collins
a title given to God or Jesus Christ

    Macmillan Dictionary
the Lord a name that Christians use for talking about God or Jesus Christ
    Praise the Lord!

    Webster's New World College Dictionary
Lord is a reference to God or Jesus.n

    FIRST ISSUE - IGNORED

Why the issue of translation is relevant to the Qur'an?

It is not even an issue according to the Qur'an.

it doesn't matter if people want to call Allah as god, or God, tuhan, Tuhan, al Ilah, Alla, Dios, Deus, Dieu, Gud, Gott or whatever beautiful names they wish to call Allah. It makes no difference, and it is not even an issue. Understanding is a process and believe whatever they want to believe, as long it is in the Qur'an, justly balanced and make sense. Simple!

what's wrong with Allah sent down the revelations to the Arabs, and in Arabic language?

    an Arabic Qur'an <- Translation is a Qur'an?
without any deviance If not, why it is becoming an issue to you or anyone?
that they might become righteous Did Allah ask you to have faith in translation, as equal to the Qur'an?
(3928) If not, why it is becoming an issue to you or anyone?

Does the following is an evidence for the "deviation" of the word "Allah"? (not critical)

    SECOND ISSUE - IGNORED

    Original

    And if you asked them
"Who created the heavens and the earth?"
they would surely say, " Allah ."
    (3642)

    Proposal for amendment

    And if you asked them
"Who created the heavens and the earth?"
they would surely say, " God ."

Asked them again, which God? <- proposal for addition of new verses ;D
Be specific, there are many Gods!
    They would surely say, ummmmmm......
But God, what is your name?
    Say, I am God. brickwall

    (3642 - Amended)

    THIRD ISSUE - IGNORED

    Can the following verse

Indeed, those who have said "Our Lord is Allah"
    (4613)

    be translated as follows?

Indeed, those who have said "Our Lord is God"
    (4613)

    or

Indeed, those who have said "Our God is God" brickwall
    (4613)

    FOURTH ISSUE - IGNORE?

And in anything over which you disagree
its ruling is to Allah . ,
"That is Allah , my Lord <- another example, should it mean "That is God, my God" confused
    upon Him I have relied
and to Him I turn back."
    (4210)

    FIFTH ISSUE - IGNORED

If Allah is God, and every religion is using capital "G" for their gods, would it then be inconsistent with the following ayat?

Nor is there to Him any equivalent" (1124) <- including God or god (refer here)

?Nothing in existence within the micro or the macro planes is equivalent to HU!? (4211)

(refer definition clause in the Qur'an, interpretation of La Illah Ila Allah and interpretation of Surah Ikhlas)

    http//c00022506.cdn1.cloudfiles.rackspacecloud.com/5_73.png

They have certainly disbelieved who say, " Allah is the third of three." And there is no god except one God. And if they do not desist from what they are saying, there will surely afflict the disbelievers among them a painful punishment. (573)

    http//c00022506.cdn1.cloudfiles.rackspacecloud.com/20_98.png
Your god is only Allah , except for whom there is no deity. He has encompassed all things in knowledge." (2098)

    LAST ISSUE

Why Allah using the word "God" in so many places in the Qur'an, when "Allah" itself means "God"?

    Peace

I read everything you wrote sir.

      Just because I didn't 'answer' doesn't mean I ignore.

It is wasting time to talk a bullet-headed person like you.

      Ever heard the title Lord?

The people who call Jesus Lord do so because they consider Jesus as Divine.
I am not discussing the nature of Allah in the Quran but the word Allah that is being monopolized by fanatical Quran literalists.

Arabs have been using the word Allah for millennia, even before Qur'an was sent down. They included the Arabs who considered Jesus as son of Allah etc.

I don't understand why you quoted Earthdom's old post. Earthdom later changed his mind again.

        Salam

Why are you still ignoring and not answering the issue?

Is this how you prove your truth?

Everyone can do like what you did, even those who are uneducated.

I'm out... wasting my time if you are not serious for discussion and keep ignoring every issue, and then relying on sources other than the Qur'an for the determination truth. laugh

        Your god is only Allah
        (2098)

Your god is only God <- Imagine this is an oral communication...
(2098) How should people respond to this kind of statement? confused

        Freemind

Surely your god is God <- if oral? Say again? ;D
If he is a Hindu, he might think that you are referring to Lord Krishna etc
"Sure, my god is God! Let's go to the Temple!" laugh
Muhammad? "Please Gabriel, is it wih capital "G"? "Wait, I need to ask god, oppsss God"

        Peace.

            Salaam,

The language in Qur'an is Arabic so of course the examples are written in Arabic too. If I was asked the same question it would likely not be in Arabic and I would answer Gud or God. Talk about sterile logic.

            God bless you

I don't know if there is any real difference between "God" and "god", so as the link you have given above (your dictionary, that is your God? and you wish I to accept your definition?).... and you seriously need to re-read again my above statement, so that it doesn't sound like a duck. ;D

Peace, reminds me of old Albanian sayings

"burri ne shtepi, eshte si dreqi ne Xhami" -- man at home like devil in mosque.

"zoti i sht?pis?" -- lord/master of the house (zoti means god in Albanian)

                          http//www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlgzTzwHies

Therefore, it makes no sense in any language to translate using a name e.g.

                          Adam/Mike of the house

Likewise incorrect and senseless to translate as Allah (i.e. personal name).

63 and he the god (zoti) in the heavens and in the earth...

This thread has become a bit of a comedy,

                            LOL I concur...
More fundamentally, debating on "the name" thus the conception of "personal name" itself is a comedy..
It's as similar as thou must not translate Jamal to Camel or Moshe to Musa or Moses.

Need to trace back on WHY the "big standing primate" invented "name" for things.
It started when the primate developed the ability to "talk".
Where, talk is communicating thoughts to other big standing primate through AUDIO SIGNAL.

Thus risen the need for an 'agreement' of how "sounds" correlate to thought thus its meanings.
As the big primate spread as group all over the earth, the 'agreement' varies among group, thus the difference of 'language' or 'the guide on how the AUDIO SIGNAL correlate to meanings'.

IF the big primate is able to communicate through 'mind transfer' (a.k.a telepathy) there will be no need of 'name' because the 'thoughts' are being 'transferred' directly without the conveyance of AUDIO signal.

As the big primate society developed, some of them feel that some 'audio signal' and "symbolic icon to audio signal' (name in written form) as their 'property'.
They invented things such as "Trademark" to forbid usage by other group of primate.

So back to the "Malaysia case", they should register "ALLAH" as their their 'international trademark' thus their 'property', only then they have the legality of controlling on who have the rights to use "ALLAH".

While on this forum the 'debate' is whether "ALLAH" can be translated or not to other AUDIO signal (thus to other symbolic icon)
The answer is of course it CAN!
As the sole objective of communication is actually "thought transfer".

                            Salam / Peace

                              Greetings and Peace, all group

7180 And to GOD belong the most beautiful names, so call Him by them; and leave alone those who deviate His names. They will be punished for what they used to do.

208 GOD, there is no god except He, to Him are the beautiful names.

5924 He is GOD; the Creator, the Initiator, the Designer. To Him belong the most beautiful names. Glorifying Him is everything in the heavens and the earth. He is the Noble, the Wise.

It is not like there is one god for one faith and another god for another faith. There is only one GOD. What religion did Abraham (Peace upon all Prophets) practice? hmm

Did all Prophets speak the same language? !

144 And We have not sent any messenger except in the language of his people, so he may clarify for them. But GOD misguides whom He wills, and He guides whom He wills. And He is the Noble, the Wise.

                              ALLAH knows best.

Let say I wish to pronounce the following sentence to someone... how to pronounce with differences?

                                god is God confused
                                (2098)

and if the Quran was sent down in English with "oral" revelations..

If Qur'an was sent down in Portuguese, the word Deus would be used instead of .

Comparison within the same language, Arabic and from the Quran itself.. to determine whether Allah is God or Allah.

And your God (is) God *
                                  (2234)

<- freemind translated as , ie. same as above

                                  your God (is) Allah **
                                  (2098)

                                  Therefore, the issue is
                                  Whether

                                  ie equal to

                                  whereas Allah say..

this Qur'an is a clear Arabic language

                                  an Arabic Qur'an
                                  without any deviance
                                  (3928)

                                  and

Could it be considered as a deviance or "not in a clear Arabic language" if is equal to ?

                                  further

If Allah is "al Ilah".. please prove by showing where does it mention "al Ilah" in the Quran.

                                  and

                                  If is equal to

                                  then what are God's names?

                                  or

There are no names for God since God names are only meaningful words?

                                  Note

                                  • And for every nation We have appointed religious ceremonies, that they may mention the Name of Allah over the beast of cattle that He has given them for food. And your Ilah (God) is One Ilah (God Allah), so you must submit to Him Alone (in Islam). And (O Muhammad SAW) give glad tidings to the Mukhbitin ,

** Your god is only Allah , except for whom there is no deity. He has encompassed all things in knowledge."

                                    Salaam,

There is no other divinity than God. God is not stiff and sterile and would perhaps write as such if it was an English revelation.

                                    God bless you

                                      Greetings and Peace, all group

Did all Prophets speak the same language? !

144 And We have not sent any messenger except in the language of his people, so he may clarify for them. But GOD misguides whom He wills, and He guides whom He wills. And He is the Noble, the Wise.

C'mon guys this is not that complicated

                                      Peace All,

God is not letters, no matter how you construct them, putting any five, four, three or ten letters of any language,
in any sequence is not the creator, like I (hawk99) am not letters. Letters are symbols used to identify, communicate,
objects, concepts, ideas etc., therefore one way to look at it is that the supreme being is a concept of omnipotence
and other attributes attributed to God, Allah ,Alla, Dios, Deus, Dieu, Gud, Gott, or Creator!

                                      God bless

                                      peace

                                        Salaam,

Different people in the Middle-East had different definite names for God too such as Yahweh for Jews/Christians and Ahura Mazda for Zoroastrians, and they spoke different languages. Would you say they served different gods when they were monotheists and practically in many cases had scriptures sharing contents?

What is then wrong in calling the divinity in English speaking countries for God?

However those in Jehova's Witnesses call God just Jehova after the Yahweh from the scripture.

The sectarian Christians renamed YAWH from Bible into 'the Lord' in the English translations probably originally to differentiate themselves from the Jews. "J.W"have done well investigating this.

And then we also know the grammatical facts about Al-Lah, so it is not rocket science that it literally means 'the god' equivalent to the God with capital letter in English due to the fact 'the' in English is not correct grammar for a proper noun. Grammatical limitations make it seem a bit weird with the phrase "there is no other god than God" as a capital letter is not giving a different pronunciation, but simply changing the phrase into "there is no other divinity than God" easily solves this grammatical barrier. Or Pazuzu's version "There is not other god than the god". )

                                        God bless you
