Do we need books to believe in God?

It's like How we know the "god" withouth books/Scriptures?
Peace
Peace bro,
It gives us "realm" data (3) as proposed in my thread Nearness and Guidance. We can know about God without knowing the scriptures but we may gain additional Knowledge and Wisdom from the Messages of God. However, that is not all means of gaining it as God works on multiple dimensions. Verbal transmission of the Knowledge is also possible through a wise man who is blessed by The Lord and many of those in known narrations went away to be tutored such as Moses is rumored to have gone to Jethro to serve him and it is inclined that he also is taught Wisdom and Knowledge. Abraham is rumored to have gone to the house of Noah I think from reading a book called "Book of Jasher". It is a myth that has emerged that we cannot use those who have gained Wisdom and Knowledge to seek inspiration and spiritual development. If one is blessed by The Lord and well-founded in Knowledge and Wisdom why should we not go to him because he is like a spiritual powerhouse. That is what drew people to the Prophets and Messengers of old.
And the Message is simple; Faith in The Lord and advocate righteousness by establishing or maintaining a system of Justice and sound Judgment. We are told to communicate with The Lord frequently throughout the day and this is the way we are helped to do this. The Lord will channel Inspiration and Guidance to the one who calls upon his Lord and lead him straight, but only as long as the person purifies his deeds steadfastly and patiently and uses the brain, hearing and eye-sight that The One blessed him with. There was a reason why God equipped this subjects with senses if you only knew.
The Message will turn obvious for the one who drops all the conjecture, idolatry, his ego and turns himself to God alone, and you shall see that the Message was almost laughably simple when you see the Message "with your own eyes".
The way we are helped by traveling or searching contact with blessed people is that their strength in spirituality is spreading and they can share their Wisdom and Knowledge in what is more right in Judgment and Justice through the active Guidance of The Lord. It is not the words of the blessed one but from the one who blessed him, and as you can guess all good comes from God and the bad comes from ourselves. It is not for a blessed one to teach strange rituals or for them to follow any other than God alone. What we should follow when we follow a Messenger of God is his example, i.e. his complete devotion to God alone and adopting his Judgment and Justice that is from The Lord but it is not blindly following just about anything but utilizing the brain that your Lord equipped you with. What the Messenger did should be an inspiration for you to activate your own mind and thinking, and the best teachings are done through parables as demonstrated by The Book (Qur'an). It is also a sales technique utilized by skilled salesmen in our daily lives and it works very well on the human mind.
It is the moral standards and thus the sound Judgment of the one who is blessed that ought to be adopted from the one you wish to seek inspiration from. Take many good examples from The Book, but it could be from anywhere of one who tells a wise story that is promoting Justice and rejecting selfishness and injustice. You need to make sure that people are treated fairly and not transgress when people are treating you unfairly but seeking a conversion from that behavior for those who perform the unrighteous deeds that they convert to God's system and not follow the one of Shaytaan and his followers.
This is thus why I reject the complete obsession with The Book (Qur'an) and I think this idolization is preventing people from seeing the Message in its true Light. The Message IS NOT confined to physical books and this message I try to convey plentifully wherever I get the chance. It may also be the reason why there was no distinct book before The Book because the Realm data was spread across mankind and the Judgment and Justice was that taught by the short inscription given to Moses and was accepted as the general rule of thumb for a long period and even Jesus follow that and showed people that we can elaborate on this law as long as we remain fair in our Judgment and Justice and remain fully devoted to The Lord.
The Book (Qur'an) shows that people cannot refrain from idolization and get completely soaked up by any material thing disregarding its spiritual and abstract source. Ironically it is translated and understood as "The Recitation" which ought to make it less of a concrete object.
If it was not for the repetitive nature of The Book and all parables it could teach what it needed in less than a dozen pages, but that was not the whole point of it. Like for many other people its composition has puzzled me and there is no distinct structure in the narration but more like jumping from one parable to another and sometimes changing topic and could also be feeling more like an imperfect conversation. Point is that God wanted it this way, but nothing should be blamed on Him. It truly feels like God inspired him (Muhammad?) to write down words that sprung to mind and not so much in an organized manner, and he was attended to by Gabriel. But the prophet wrote down words clearly presented for him because else it would be pretty grotesque considered the person view. All the "say" commands clearly seem to indicate that writings that he wrote down were intended to be used as a help when he met people to talk about God. If the narration was written by a human author it is indicating severe mental disorder because it would not make sense at all, yet there is immense Wisdom and Knowledge within its passages that could not originate from a madman and someone who is not close to God.
The Book also shows a little hint how stunted God's inspiration and guidance can emerge at any time.
If you know your Realm knowledge you know that Abraham grew up with a polytheistic father and thus he could not develop his spirituality through him and could be a reason why he left his home town of Ur. It is highly probable that he went off searching for where he could be with people who were more close to God and likely the narration that he went to the house of Noah away from his father is true. It is a logical move nonetheless from that perspective.
Most sons of righteous fathers could be fostered and taught the right path from their own father and did not need to go elsewhere. And we are taught to show great respect to our parents as far as coming as a rule from The Lord, and even without this commandment it ought to come naturally. Despite that Abraham's father treated him badly his son did not respond in wrath but was relatively kind towards his father and even pledged to ask for forgiveness on his account to The Lord which God however rejected of course, but Abraham was a kind man and God knew this and this is why Abraham is always portrayed as a grand role model for God's system and of serving God alone.
Those who have the proper approach to God's system and are thus guided will realize that there is something wrong in tradition and how Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Hinduism or Judaism etc have come along. It is always a good idea that has turned horribly wrong due to man's tendency to idolize those who possess Knowledge and Wisdom. I swear that none of these people ever asked for the publicity that they have gained, i.e. Muhammad, Jesus, Buddha, Zoroaster or whoever came around with a Message of God were advocating full devotion to God and never wanted to be treated the way they are treated up until now after their demise.
God bless you

Salaam,
No. We do not need books to "believe" in God. We just need to work on our ways and make sure we become good humans. The nearness to God will more or less come automagically and through this obviously guidance. It is about affinity if one becomes spiritually enlightened. Texts such as Quran or the Biblical scriptures may help, but they are hardly essential, and people would know this if they have things clear to themselves. Also texts like Quran can turn a person away from God due to misinterpretation too.

I think belief should be based on understanding, and God created language as a means to understand. Belief is a good place to start, but greater understanding comes through the written word. I read somewhere words are alive, therefore they should not be taken for granted. If we look (or read) in the right place, then God can offer His guidance. To believe, we do not need books, but to know, we need books. They are a part of God's plan and provisions. Our minds are fed by them, and our hearts change through them. I do not believe, however, that we need every book, and only God's wisdom can lead us to the right book(s).

. . . to believe Only in God, to make us stand firmly by Him during our testing times, to protect and correct us from the path of error and to Guide us in the Straight Path, the Luminous Book is absolutely essential.
Hmm... I think I agree.
I'm grateful to Allah for the Qur'an,
and I think I do perceive the Qur'an as a book.

I am grateful to The Rabb for nearness and guidance, and knowledge and wisdom. That is more important than any specific text.
And affinity brings nearness which leads to guidance which in return leads to knowledge and wisdom. It is all interconnected.

4200 belief in earth are idolizing God by human interpretation (including Quran)manipulated words of God for politics and human desires which is root of such such tyrannous manner when they can read and write and show their crimes by this screen.
I came to this forum for showing what witnessed and gone through many discussions, unfortunately educated one are locked into their taught for years and are insisting of their understanding the messages, parroting their parents and teachers that has created such tarnishing name for Islam and Quran.Few years ago I started a topic that why this forum logo is God Alone and not metioning Quran Alone ?
I was banned for one month and finally I have reached to same conclusion but much bolder and straight open.Bookless God
This is my last post in this forum
Peace and wish best for you -
Oh, that was unexpected, brother Bahman. You have your way with numbers, but I did not think that you were that fed up with people.
I am in a similar seat as you except about my controversial letter-by-letter interpretation method. I never put myself into your interlocking, but I tried to keep my respect for you. I am also slightly tired of all naive criticism and distrust, but I try to use the Iranian expression "Khaste nabash" on myself and keep working for the sake of God.

Technically speaking, the living Quran is not a book, so no, we don't need a book. Although it's not necessary, we have been given a gift and should try to learn as much as possible. I am interested in the so-called seven layers of understanding of the Quran.
-
Nay, one does not need a book to consent/acknowledge his (rightful) Master/Owner . What one really needs, however, is a sound mind (QA ).
As for the Quranic zkr, my understanding is that it plays the role of G-D's promised guidance (to humanity) ~ see 238 One ought to follow its directions IF he/she seeks (to progress on) the right track (QA ).

Good reference, brother hicham
And then I mean . I deliberately separated the word to highlight the root in there. It is a good translation/definition there. I argue that as a root means sound/firm, and Arabic words only have one meaning...
refers to heart/conscience.

Thank you my brother,
I am truly heartened to know that we share a common understanding (of the Quranic terms in question). The (semitic) root slm is indeed related to soundness, wholeness, or healthiness And qlb can be translated as 'heart' the inner core/center which is responsible for our thoughts and feelings; ie. the seat of the faculty of reason ~ the mind]

Arabic in Quran is really unique. And so misunderstood.
I think people too rarely ponder upon how this language actually works intrinsically. It is very abstract and on spiritual level and has special markers when it is concrete vs. abstract. Words very literally say what they want to say, in the way of a mental image.
And its letters exist in Hebrew with the same meaning albeit different symbols. And Hebrew has different grammar and words although not entirely foreign.
Arabic feels like Hebrew 2.0.

Books are good, but there is no exclusive book, and one should not stare themselves blind with any of them, and most importantly they must make sure they follow the proper interpretation.
