Like you said the answer to "is pork halal ?" can be found in Qoran explicitly and clearly. There is no doubt about it.I personally do not mind if anyone says anything they want but states it is their view.
If they think they have a refutable proof, then state it .
But be ready to answer all enquiries about it . They cannot ignore questions or refuse to answer them by simply ignoring logical relevant questions.
Of course some stick to their views ,but unless they can prove without a doubt their case they remain simply their opinion.

Peace.To me the question might be open or more open if pig was such a tremendous improvement in dietary habits of people. Why forbid it? In fact, I am all out against spirits, but the prohibition of spirits is of a different kind as the prohibition of pork. However s it is formulated in Qur'an there are more open doubts about the alchol than the pig.
Myself I consider that spirits cause are more dangerous than pig, but still in Qur'an there is no hurrimat spirits for the believers.
I think that is because spirits are far more tricky than pig and therefore there is on the part of people a greater need to be conscious of evil of spirits than of the harm of pig, so that for pig a mere prohibiton works but for spirits it is a more active standing required than for abstaining of pig.

its interesting thing to note why spirits and things related with spirirts like wine are catagorised as seperate subject. we can understand it the way how (muslims)react to PORK compared to Alchohal.
if pork get mix in FOOD we will not eat.
with alcohal its different GOD knows its uses and sub uses.
example GOD said he made scented seeds for the benefit of people(ch 55).
these scented seeds like cardmom etc we use it for food as well as fragrance(perfume).the fragrance take a new shape of industry what we know as perfumes with the help of flowers too(even flowers are serving purpose)
fragrance always play positive vibes on humans. thats just one sub-use of alchohal if it was in catagory of PORK then muslim kids even have struggling touching perfume bottles.
Big favour of author of quran otheriwse i will be struggling applying perfume. the habbit of mine when i just start atteding my school.
we cant SUB-use pork anywhere at all including their fats we usually use fat for oiling,making soap etc.

The Arabic word for pig is
The Qur'an uses the same word when it says that pork is forbidden in multiple ayat.
It does not say that only Muslims are prohibited which means that its prohibited for every jinn and human regardless of religion which includes Jews.
