Salam Brother Jonny
I'm sorry bro, I don't care what other language or other religions call Allah in their language if it is not Arabic
In the Arabic Quran however it clearly tells us that Allah IS A NAME ALONG WITH MANY OTHER NAMES HE HAS, here is my compelling evidence
23- Allah is He, than Whom there is no other god;- the Sovereign, the Holy One, the Source of Peace (and Perfection), the Guardian of Faith, the Preserver of Safety, the Exalted in Might, the Irresistible, the Supreme Glory to Allah! (High is He) above the partners they attribute to Him.
24- He is Allah, the Creator, the Evolver, the Bestower of Forms (or Colours). To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names whatever is in the heavens and on earth, doth declare His Praises and Glory and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

Read the verse again.
It says Allah, there's no ilah but He...
So if one asks, who is the 'he' in 59/23? what would your answer be?
then 59/24 says 'lahu al-asmaaul husna' to/for him are the most beautiful names.
So who is the 'he' in 59/24?
To me, this passage shows that the primary name is 'Allah'. However, Im still unsure about 17/110.

For 5923, He is any of the following names that followed "Hoa" Allah, Al Mumin, Al Malik, Al Qudoos, Al Salam, Al Aziz, Al Jabbar, Al Mutakabir, Al Muhaimin
And to me, "He" in 59/24 is any of the following names that followed "is" Allah, Al Khaliq, Al Bari, Al Musawir nothing suggest to me in the verses that Allah is the primary one, but I can accept that it is the most popular one.
for 7110

According to the above Arabic verse it is clear that following names are His
Allah & Al Rahman

Can someone translate ALLAH for me in english??Brother mquran stated Al-ilah means THE GOD so that would be the wrong wording to use.
If the message has come to all nations then has the word ALLAH always been used regardless of language??
Granted ALLAH has been used in the Quran many times but could someone explain to me how you estabilish nouns i.e names in the Quran so not to translate it straight to english??

Mquran is right, Al-Ilah is the one that means The God
Allah can't be translated because it is a name as I shown from the verses above, it rimes with Ilah but that's about it really
If the message has come to all nations then has the word ALLAH always been used regardless of language??
I believe yes "but not 100% sure" as I see Elohim rimes well with Allah, I think you may read the book "What is His Name" by Ahmed Dedaat
in the arab word also when we see something stunning we say the word "Allah"
Granted ALLAH has been used in the Quran many times but could someone explain to me how you estabilish nouns i.e names in the Quran so not to translate it straight to english??
PEACEI guess like any other language, only the context will be the main criteria in recognising entity names
for example Mansoor is a common male and arabic name and it also means "made victories"
in the following context it has to be an entity name
Mansoor went to the school = Mansoor(a human) went to the school
in the next context it can only mean "Made victories"
Mohammad was mansoor in Badr battle = Mohammad was made victories in Badr battle
in the following context, the first Mansoor means Mansoor as entity name and the second mansoor means "made victories"
Mansoor was mansoor by his friends = Mansoor was made victories by his friends
and for both meanings "a male name" or "made victories", mansoor is always noun
so being a noun is no use to determine the meaning, it is the context only

Salam bro "AB",

JK- The evangelical Christgians at answering-islam.com asked me the same question years ago. I gave them their own example from the Bible where it says "in the NAME of the Father, ....". Now is "father" here a name? Definitely not. Similarly the verse Bismillah says "in the name of GOD, the beneficial, the Merfciful." Infact the latter two can be considered names/attributes. GOD Bless!

I agree bro, but not enough logic to convince me as I can also say
In the name of Ahmed Bahagt

JK- This verse doesnt say that "Allah" is a name by any means. "Glory be to GOD" is the phrase and doesnt give a name.
24- He is Allah, the Creator, the Evolver, the Bestower of Forms (or Colours). To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names whatever is in the heavens and on earth, doth declare His Praises and Glory and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
JK- The verse says "He is GOD/the God" at the beginning and then in the latter part says that "to HIM(i.e. GOD) belong the most beatiful nameS". Hance yes there are many names/attributes belonging to "Allah" but this doesnt make "Allah" itself a name not to mention a personal name. GOD Bless!

Salam "mquran",
If Al-quraan is consistent then 'the god' would translate into 'al-ilah', not Allah.
JK- "Allah" is the conraction of "al-ilah". It is difficult to pronouce to "alifs" like in "al-ilah". Therefore we never see this term in the Quran at all. It's just like "a apple" in English which is wrong. It should be "an apple". GOD Bless!

Hey Jonney
It was stated as such "La Ilah Ila Hu" ie, No God But him
not enough logic bro, sounds like stretching to me because
Ilah = God
Allah = Allah

I also believe the following
Rab = Ilah = God
but
Allah = Allah

Peace bro "AB",
According to the above Arabic verse it is clear that following names are His
Allah & Al Rahman
JK- Ok i agree thst "Allah" can also be an attribute. What i disagree is "Allah" being the personal name of GOD. "Alrahman" is also not left as it is in English but translated "Most Beneficial/gracious". It is not a name in that sense. It is an attribute. GOD Bless!

excuse me bro we use all these names as human names prefixed by "Abd"
Abd Al Rahman
Abd Al Rahim
Abd Al Qidoos
Abd Al Salam
Abd Al Malik
Abd Allah
Abd Al Aziz
etc
.
.
.all of Allah names including the name "Allah" are used as such
now this is important to know that we must be refering to God's names to explicitly associate the self as a slave to Him by using the prefix "Abd" otherwise it may mean Abd to any other god that is defined as a god
on the other hand we naver have the following name
Abd Al Ilah
because it means the Slave of God
which god in here?
see, it makes great sense bro
please submit and concede
Peace be with you

Peace bro "AB",
There was NO "al-ilah" in the old original Arabic. "Allah" is the conraction of "al-ilah". Please try to udnerstand this. Not a single time does the Quran mention "al-ilah". Therefore theres no "abd al-ilah". And "Allah" while being an attribute is NOT the personal name of GOD since there is NO such thing as the personal name of GOD. GOD Bless! -

GOD Bless!Bro not every word that starts with Al, means it is the Al "Al Muarafa"
all the names other than Allah, you can remove the Al and it will still be valid, EXCEPT ALLAH, if you remove the Al, you will end up with a non sensible word which is "Lah" represented by only two arabic letters "Lam & Ha". and this word does not exist as far as I believe
i wonder why you want to change this common kbnoweldge about Allah even before Islam came to existance, your motion is very silly and uncalled for bro, sorry to tell you that

Peace be upon you,
Al + Ilah , when combined become Allah (The God).
This is a description, JUST LIKE the rest of the descriptions we are given to address the ALL(God).
The God says whatever you describe IT as, to IT belongs the BEST descriptions.
The God dose not have a NAME like a human. We dont call IT Bob, or Jimmy, etc. To NAME something is to DEFINE something, therefore placing LIMITS on something. Physical objects like humans must be named/defined in order to seperate it from another object. The God is not an object, IT is the SUBJECT or ALL OBJECTS We are all objects of the one sentence (UNI - VERSE).
WHen we read "In the description of the God", it is helping us understand that this message is a message that helps us to bring out the "likeness of God" within us. We are purifying ourselves so that the God can manifest itself through our vehicle, this is how we serve the God. The hidden thoughts and the visable vehicle are made to SERVE the manifestation of God on Earth.

Peace bro
excuse you man, WHY YOU CHANGED THE WORDS FROM BEST NAMES TO BEST DESCRIPTIONS?
the verse never said best description, i guess you made this up
for Al-Ilah
there is no such thing in arabi that
Al + Ilah = Allah
because Al + Ilah = Al Ilah
did you get it bro?

Everyone needs to put their petty differences and hair splitting aside. Any true Muslim knows that God judges our intentions. I don't care if you call our creator God, Allah, Dieu, Dios, Elohim, Hashem, or Bob Marley. As long as you believe in the God that revealed the Qur'an and abide by His commands and tenets, names might as well mean nothing. It is sickening to watch so much useless hair splitting take place.
