Why do so many Quran Aloners still use the term "Allah"
-
SO to make a long answer short, we are free to choose our own way, but it benefits us to choose the way that is in line with the Divine Plan.
Agreed. When you choose Al-Islaam, you are choosing to attain salaam. The way you choose Islam is to purify your deen solely for Allah (mukhliseena lahu ad-deen).

Allah is not Arabic. Jesus used Allah as well in the Bible
I'm not claiming the word is Arabic exclusively or that Allah Himself is an Arab. What I am saying is, I use the word Allah because the word is fully explained in al-quraan. I do not accept the bible as revelation nor any other book.

Someone correct me if im wrong but doesn't ALLAH translate to THE GOD??
Also I personally agree with jonny the simple reason being is that God is beyond language and therefore we shouldn't limit The God to a simple word if we are to believe that his system/religion is for all of mankind to follow and not selected people in the Middle East who speak Arabic/Aramaic or whatever. Just my 2 cents!!
PEACE
-
Peace "mquran",
Strange to see you even bring this up. I'm using the word Allah because to me, the word 'god' is rootless. It has no context. The word Allah is the central word in the discourse of al-quraan and therefore is fully-explained. The bible doesn't have this self-awareness.
JK- Even in the Quran "Allah" is not used as a name or personal god as many believe. We should use the term for GOD of the language which we speak. Ofcourse im not forcing anyone. Thats just my advice. If you wanna be considered terrorists and racists by non-Arabic speakers, which i believe would be the result of doing so, then that's entirely upto you . GOD Bless!

Peace "2pac",
Someone correct me if im wrong but doesn't ALLAH translate to THE GOD??
JK- Yep that is a possibility but grammatically speaking i prefer using all capital "GOD" only.
Also I personally agree with jonny the simple reason being is that God is beyond language and therefore we shouldn't limit The God to a simple word if we are to believe that his system/religion is for all of mankind to follow and not selected people in the Middle East who speak Arabic/Aramaic or whatever. Hello
As brother Salahdin said Allah is A NAME and does not mean God, Allah is a unique name too, I can elaborate later,,
Ilah is the one that means God
therefore Allah must be called Allah in any langugae because it is his personal name that can't be plural neither feminine
God however can be plural "the gods" and can be feminine "The goddess"
for example the name Richard in english will be "Richard" in Arabic
and my name Ahmed in Arabic will be Ahmed in English and Ahmed in chinease
see, it has nothing to do with the Arabic language
IT IS A NAME FOR GOD SAKE
and I mean by God above "Ilah" and not "Allah"
But I know there is only one Ilah (God) and His name is Allah (Allah)
Peace to all

Peace bro "AB",
Hello
As brother Salahdin said Allah is A NAME and does not mean God, Allah is a unique name too, I can elaborate later,,
JK- Sorry i cannot agree. Christians also use this argument to slap the submitters in the face.
Ilah is the one that means God
JK- "Ilah" means "god" with small "g" while "Allah" means "God/GOD" with capital "G". Greek makes an even better distinction i.e. "ilah" in arabic= "TONtheos" in Greek and "Allah" = "HOtheos". Once is indeed specific while the other is common BUT none is a name NOT to mention a personal name. See the difference?
therefore Allah must be called Allah in any langugae because it is his personal name that can't be plural neither feminine
JK- "GOD" with ccapital "G" can also neither be feminine nor plural. And as i said according to the Quran GOD is NOT a person. This is the Christians's or Jews' concept of GOD. Submitters stress on the fact entirely that GOD is for all.
God however can be plural "the gods" and can be feminine "The goddess"
JK- Explained above.
for example the name Richard in english will be "Richard" in Arabic
JK- Bad example since "Allah" is NOT a name. Even the Arabic Bible would show you that where "elyhim" wherever referring to the true god has been translated as "Allah".
and my name Ahmed in Arabic will be Ahmed in English and Ahmed in chinease
JK- Explained above.
see, it has nothing to do with the Arabic language
IT IS A NAME FOR GOD SAKE
and I mean by God above "Ilah" and not "Allah"
But I know there is only one Ilah (God) and His name is Allah (Allah)
Peace to all
JK- As ive made clear now "Allah" is NOT a name by any means. Jesus, Abraham, etc didnt call GOD by the term "Allah". They used "Elyhim/Alaaha/Yahweh/Eloah". GOD Bless!

Thanks bro
can you please tell me what the besmellah means then by ( in the name of Allah) ?

Salam Brother Jonny
I'm sorry bro, I don't care what other language or other religions call Allah in their language if it is not Arabic
In the Arabic Quran however it clearly tells us that Allah IS A NAME ALONG WITH MANY OTHER NAMES HE HAS, here is my compelling evidence
23- Allah is He, than Whom there is no other god;- the Sovereign, the Holy One, the Source of Peace (and Perfection), the Guardian of Faith, the Preserver of Safety, the Exalted in Might, the Irresistible, the Supreme Glory to Allah! (High is He) above the partners they attribute to Him.
24- He is Allah, the Creator, the Evolver, the Bestower of Forms (or Colours). To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names whatever is in the heavens and on earth, doth declare His Praises and Glory and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

Read the verse again.
It says Allah, there's no ilah but He...
So if one asks, who is the 'he' in 59/23? what would your answer be?
then 59/24 says 'lahu al-asmaaul husna' to/for him are the most beautiful names.
So who is the 'he' in 59/24?
To me, this passage shows that the primary name is 'Allah'. However, Im still unsure about 17/110.

For 5923, He is any of the following names that followed "Hoa" Allah, Al Mumin, Al Malik, Al Qudoos, Al Salam, Al Aziz, Al Jabbar, Al Mutakabir, Al Muhaimin
And to me, "He" in 59/24 is any of the following names that followed "is" Allah, Al Khaliq, Al Bari, Al Musawir nothing suggest to me in the verses that Allah is the primary one, but I can accept that it is the most popular one.
for 7110

According to the above Arabic verse it is clear that following names are His
Allah & Al Rahman

Can someone translate ALLAH for me in english??Brother mquran stated Al-ilah means THE GOD so that would be the wrong wording to use.
If the message has come to all nations then has the word ALLAH always been used regardless of language??
Granted ALLAH has been used in the Quran many times but could someone explain to me how you estabilish nouns i.e names in the Quran so not to translate it straight to english??

Mquran is right, Al-Ilah is the one that means The God
Allah can't be translated because it is a name as I shown from the verses above, it rimes with Ilah but that's about it really
If the message has come to all nations then has the word ALLAH always been used regardless of language??
I believe yes "but not 100% sure" as I see Elohim rimes well with Allah, I think you may read the book "What is His Name" by Ahmed Dedaat
in the arab word also when we see something stunning we say the word "Allah"
Granted ALLAH has been used in the Quran many times but could someone explain to me how you estabilish nouns i.e names in the Quran so not to translate it straight to english??
PEACEI guess like any other language, only the context will be the main criteria in recognising entity names
for example Mansoor is a common male and arabic name and it also means "made victories"
in the following context it has to be an entity name
Mansoor went to the school = Mansoor(a human) went to the school
in the next context it can only mean "Made victories"
Mohammad was mansoor in Badr battle = Mohammad was made victories in Badr battle
in the following context, the first Mansoor means Mansoor as entity name and the second mansoor means "made victories"
Mansoor was mansoor by his friends = Mansoor was made victories by his friends
and for both meanings "a male name" or "made victories", mansoor is always noun
so being a noun is no use to determine the meaning, it is the context only
peace

Salam bro "AB",

JK- The evangelical Christgians at answering-islam.com asked me the same question years ago. I gave them their own example from the Bible where it says "in the NAME of the Father, ....". Now is "father" here a name? Definitely not. Similarly the verse Bismillah says "in the name of GOD, the beneficial, the Merfciful." Infact the latter two can be considered names/attributes. GOD Bless!

JK- This verse doesnt say that "Allah" is a name by any means. "Glory be to GOD" is the phrase and doesnt give a name.
24- He is Allah, the Creator, the Evolver, the Bestower of Forms (or Colours). To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names whatever is in the heavens and on earth, doth declare His Praises and Glory and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
JK- The verse says "He is GOD/the God" at the beginning and then in the latter part says that "to HIM(i.e. GOD) belong the most beatiful nameS". Hance yes there are many names/attributes belonging to "Allah" but this doesnt make "Allah" itself a name not to mention a personal name. GOD Bless!
-
Salam "mquran",
If Al-quraan is consistent then 'the god' would translate into 'al-ilah', not Allah.
JK- "Allah" is the conraction of "al-ilah". It is difficult to pronouce to "alifs" like in "al-ilah". Therefore we never see this term in the Quran at all. It's just like "a apple" in English which is wrong. It should be "an apple". GOD Bless!

Hey Jonney
It was stated as such "La Ilah Ila Hu" ie, No God But him
not enough logic bro, sounds like stretching to me because
Ilah = God
Allah = Allah
