    Peace all

Their mentality is not the truth but 'no way could that many people be wrong !' or 'no way were our parents wrong !' Its all about ego, they won't admit that they are wrong because they are so drowned by it. They are like 'No No No ! I am right ! And You are wrong ! ' ... 'How dare you question our history!'

That's exactly my experience with my uncle who reverted to traditional islam couple of years ago. I had several discussions with him and the one I had yesterday was a little longer but with no results. This is what he told me, "The AQ is just fine it is you who is understanding it wrongly"... I am right and you are wrong!". That was because I pointed out to him the verses where God says clearly that AQ is enough, is complete, is a mercy and guidance for believers, has all the examples, and those verses where it says that we should not believe in any other hadith after this AQ; even after all this he would not listen to what AQ said but insisted on that it was me who was understanding it wronlgy.
So, it was me understanding its verses wronlgy and he was right no matter what... yeah brickwall

    Peace all

its very unfortunate...its just the older a man(or woman) becomes the more stubborn they are, and the less likely they are to accept it, if you approach this Quran Alone/God Alone concept to teenagers , the result would be spectacular i think... its all about prejudice if these people would let it go and just worry about the truth or what is right then they wouldn't have any problems, but The human being is the most argumentative creature is he not?

what about the verse in the quran that says only the name of allah should be called from the temples and that we should dedicated our prayer to god and no one else.

"The mosques belong to GOD; therefore, do not mention anyone else beside GOD." (721

how many mosques you know do this today? how many muslims do you know?

since moving from uk to morroco ive found not a single person / mosque that lives up to this verse

when i talk to some of my friends here about this subject, one asked me the other day "do you not believe and love the prophet muhammed " i said of course !, i devote myself to what the prophet has done, of how he sufferd to bring this message of god to humanity, i also devote and acknowledge and respect all the other prophets like moses, abraham, noah, jesus etc etc of how they all played thier part in delivering the message of allah

        so what gives now?

they did agree with me that your absolute love should be for allah but they still insisted that your prayer should be praising and glorifying of Muhammad and Abraham.

To be honest this is a major downfall in the islamic world, kinda scary huh?

            Salam.

I would like to share a true story. My dad was a buddhist, then he became a christian, after that again as a buddhist. Then he met my mum who is borned-muslim. He actually wanted to convert her into a buddhist and marry her in another country.

So my dad and mum made a deal, in order for my mum to read the buddhist scripture, my dad have to read the Quran. With God's permission (most gracious most merciful), they are now both "God-alone/Quran only" muslim. My dad told me, the way the Quran is written amazed him. It is not like other religion scriptures he read.

And i have to agree with him on that. For example, there's so much things and issues in this worlds which are reflected in the Quran. The signs God provides in the Quran, you can see happening around us. The nature, the human nature, ect..

Praise to Allah, the almighty, the most wise.

If you don't mind, could you share why your mother came to God Alone after she read buddhist scripture? I am sure it would be interesting and enlightening.

                Wassalam,

I doubt she came to God Alone after she read buddhist scripture. I guess it is when she read the Quran many times while she and my dad were in Maddina/Mekah during Hajj. It is easier to read the Quran when there is little distractions. P

True, it is human nature to argue. Furthermore, people are afraid to question their belief, especially when half of your life is spent holding onto that belief. It could simply because people do not want to admit they are wrong, or it could also because people perceive when you question your belief, you become apostate. But we have to question things before we believe it. Truth will prevail.

                  Surah 2 23
And if ye are in doubt as to what We have revealed from time to time to Our sevant, then produce a Surah like thereunto; and call your witnesses or helpers besides God, if your (doubt) are true.

                  224
But if ye cannot - and of a surety ye cannot - then fear the Fire whose fuel is Men and Stones, - which is prepared for those who reject Faith.

what middle man have we put in? we are practicing the legacy left behind by the prophet(pbuh). because he was the best example of a muslim. again i must ask what hierarchy are you referring to? shock

some of the hadiths are weak, which go against the teachings of the Qur'an, and some are strong ahadiths. obviously if something sounds ridiculous you simply use your own brain and not believe in it.

Hadiths are the sayings of our beloved prophet (saw), the second generations narrated these.

I still solely follow the Qur'an, AGAIN HADITHS ARE SUPPLEMENTARY FORM of understanding the Qur'anic commandments. First we should find the references in the Qur'an and then go to secondary sources.

I read in some other posts, that sunni's are idol worshippers, Astagfirrilah people here have some deviant thoughts about the practices of Sunni's

                          salaams

it is incorrect to say that belief in ahadith is limited to understanding the quran alone.

on the contrary, if one is believe in the ahadith, one is then paving the path for abrogation and paving the path for shirk.

                          WHY?
because the Ahadith claim to replace many Quranic injunctions and ADD on to them.

also, there is no such thing as belief in ahadith. those who believe the ahadith to be authentic, believe in the word of certain people. it is these people that they put their faith in. and this is shirk. the whole idea of believing that a person or persons are infallible is shirk. all humans can make mistakes, and therefore, the judgement of humans as to which ahadith is correct is also fallible.

THEREFORE , the ahadith are historical records and not wahi.

ahadith can best be used to see what the arabs of that time said about Din and about Muhammad.

the AHADITH are in now way representative of waht the RasulAllah said or did.

they are only reflective of what the people of that time CLAIMED that the rasulAllah said or did.

therefore, it is not a part of Islam
