What I meant was, from my understanding, the Sunni and Shia view women primarily as reproductive organs and breast-feeding machines. Once this is over, and especially if the children were male, I thought that custody would go to the man.

Just out of interest (and only if you want to share), on what grounds was the divorce granted?

I am not sure about that.

But I came to know that till children reach the age of 18, they themselves (children) cannot decide where to live or whom to live with. And father has no right to take his children until they reach 18 years as per the Indian Law.

By my theCreator's blessings and mercy, I meet my children on every Saturday, they come to me and stay with me for whole day and get back at around 900 PM.
