    Peace "farida",

And finally you may raise your hand to control her.

JK- Farida excuse me for saying this BUT ARE YOU INSANE? >( Do you want men to control you just because you THINK that the Quran says something which it actually doesnt and you should really read through bro Edip's article on this issue in case you havnt. GOD Bless!

      Peace "Rami",

If i read you correctly that you support the view that rebellious wives should be beaten then i no longer hold anything of view, sorry. In tht case Im disgusted to say the least and hope tht you read bro Edip's article before you mock the Quran with this nonsense. MEN ARE NOT THE BOSSES OF WOMEN AND HAVE NO RIGHT TO BEAT THEM ESPECIALLY COZ THEY CAN HARM THEM MUCH MORE PHYSICALLY THAN THE REVERSE. The strong beting the weaker is extremely coward unless done in self defense if attacked physically. GOD Bless!

        Peace,
        Respectfully.

I'm so against beating women that i will no even watch this video.
Women must be treated with respect and love.

        Men and women are equal.
        Period.

        Glory be to our God.

No I am not insane, I want men to control themselves as I believe the surah in question is actully asking men to take steps to curb their anger. No matter what brother Edip says the majority of cowardly people will always believe that they have been given license to hit woman. They need to understand that this ayah is reminding men who are in rage and are about to hit woman to first go through two vital steps which would involve time and effort. This would cool things down and the final stage of lifting hand to strike will never arrive.
          As Rami pointed out

Lets define 'nushuz' first. Nushuz to get higher than your normal position. So its like Hyper, Supra or Ultra. How can a husband or a wife execute 'nushuz'??
          Rami

In this case Nushus would represent the inflated stage of anger, which would be deflated by following these two stages before taking any other action. As you know that the Qur'an does not ban doing what we have been in the habit of doing; instead it creates hurdles recognizing the psychology of humans, being that banning something only makes it more popular.

          peace

            Peace Jonny_K,

It seem you don't understand the difference between aggression and punishment. The verse doesn't say go and hit your wife because you can D. It is a punishment for the woman for her "nushuz" IF she didn't take heed for the first 2 actions. But why is a wife required to obey her husband you ask?! Because he paid her to pass his seed!! Did you know that marriage we know today is just a bogus fairytale from outer space. The man actually 'rents' the woman to pass his seed. This is called 'agr' or wage. You could aslo rent a woman to breastfeed your child. The only difference between prostitution and marriage is the waiting period the woman should wait untill she can marry another man so the seeds dont get intermixed which could be the real definition of Zina. Thats why God says that Zina is a bad path because it creates trouble later on.

            Peace,

            Rami

              Salaam Rami,
Or maybe it?s a punishment for a man who is full of rage to be asked to hold back and take 2 steps. Perhaps you have seen how men, when full of anger, trying to spare another person, start to hit the wall or whatever to take out their aggression and end up hurting themselves.

Yes Johnny, you should really get the difference between aggression and punishment as well as prostitution and marriage !
When a man hits a woman that is not his wife its aggression, if he hits the woman paid for receiving his seed (in this case wife not prostitute, please note the difference!) it can only be punishment...
Funny thing is the prostitute also receives his seed but is paid only for his satisfaction
Did you get the difference ? whatever

                peace still...lk

Where in the qur'aan do we have different punishments, for the same offense, based on gender?

Usually the man wont be rebellious because he is one in authority Rami

O yes! They do (if you ean by rebellious commit nushuuz)

"And if a woman fears nushuuz of her husband "

                    Peace all,

OK. First what does it mean 'If he/she fears nushuz' ?? Nushuz seems like something very bad not simply disobedience. Adultery maybe? Because nushuz being disobedience doesn't make any sense.

                    Husband Wify, where is launch?
Wife (delays a bit), OK hun, its coming up.
Husband Hmm, Wify lagged, seems she is going to disobey me one day.
                    Wife brings launch.
                    Husband Come here baby.
                    Wify comes close.
                    Husband SPANKS her hard.
Wife Why did you hit me? I didn't do anything!

                      Peace,

24 2 shall have to be taken as the yard stick that whoever disobeys between wife and husband must be punished as severely as possible without mercy. Because man's threshold for pain is much better, to make the punishment even, the husband shall have to be thrashed harder and worse, if the husband disobeys. This is Quran.

                        .

This is applicable when adultery is confirmed. But if you fear nushuz from your wife, you go through the checklist. And no Doc, quite the reverse, a woman's threshold for pain is better. Now this is The Quran.

                          How about this
Mother Son today your wife was out and about as soon as you left the house and I saw her going out with a man in the side road behind houses and then I don?t know where she disappeared for one hour.
Husband to his wife Where did you go today?
Wife No we just went out shopping.
Husband And who was the man with you?
                          Wife Which man?
Husband; The one you were chatting with and went behind the houses with?
Wife I was chatting with no man.
Husband My mother told me she saw you with a man.
Wife Your mother is always spying on me coming up with lies.
Husband How dare you call my mother a liar
Wife She?s been telling so many lies about me and you only trust what she says. I can?t even tell you what a nasty women she is; always looking to make stories out of nothing.
Husband Bang!!!! How dare you call my mother nasty?! She is my mother and you answer back and you go out with other men!
Wife; You had no right to do that to me
Bang Husband Are you telling me you know more than all the Imams.

There is Knock on the door. A neighbour comes to thank the wife for helping her husband, who suffers from dementia, to get home safely.

Now in this case, 'If he/she fears nushuz'
Is it the husband who fears he may break the boundaries that he may not be able to keep his temper in control or his temper in obedience? hmm

Since a husbands rents a womb and as long as his seed has been fertilizes he should not expect any thing else from a wife.
And what happens where the wife is barren? hmm

No if she sleep with another man before the waiting period passes, this is Zina and deserves punishment. Plus the man should care for her all that period.

Once the waiting period is over, she can go and marry anyone. Marriage without intercourse requires no waiting period to break, so Zina is adultery on the woman's side only (polygamy is permitted).
