      Wakas bro post some more
Actually thats really smart, using the socratic method on them. I just start off with a really offensive thread topic like "A Message to Mohamedans" or "A Message to Bukhari Worshippers". Then in a few days i get banned. Its funny how the same forum will have ATHIESTS posting threads that there is no God and other threads that Jesus is God but they ban the Muslim that calls them out on hadith. Unbelievable! I guess they think they could convert them but with me i'm a hopeless case D I actually just got banned recently from one sunni forum. Never cursed or insulted - not in my nature. All I said was if you uphold hadith as law, if you invoke the names of others in your prayers, then you've associated others with Allah. I very rapidly started getting all these warnings, insults and finally a ban with reason stated KAFRA . crazyyyyyyyyyyyy lol
Yea don't try my method, Wakas's way sounds more professional D
      Peace

TEll me about it, i managed to get banned from one of the only muslim forums in denmark. merely for promoting God in the Quran alone. The usual stuff "follow the messenger means follow bukahri and other persian catholics". Altso I had a debate about warsongs with a mujahideen that i have in my circle of good freinds. He told me the sobby stories of proud warriors singing at the campfire at night to keep morals high. Any squad in any part of the world does this. The most famous ofcourse is the Merican style chanting.

"I dont know what ive been told"
        repeat "i dont know what....etc"

So when confronted with this fact that singing apparently can be a good thing, suddenly its "but promoting God is good"...OBVIOUSLY promoting God is good, but what the heck does it have to do with musical instruments? He is one of the brightest people i have ever met, and yet he just dont see it. incredible.

        Peace

No worries, wear your ban proud ! I don't think you want to be associated with people so close-minded anyway
That's the beauty of this forum, it is so open and warm .. the way it should be )
You raised a really interesting point. How DO they rationalize instruments as being haram??? -\ Or is it always some kind of illogical circular reasoning that contradicts in mid-sentence as usual ? lol
Anyone know the hadith they use for that one?

          Peace

            Salaam Soul2Squeeze,

These are the music-related hadiths I can collect. All from Bukhari. yay

            Volume 2, Book 15, Number 70
            Narrated Aisha
Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) came to my house while two girls were singing beside me the songs of Buath (a story about the war between the two tribes of the Ansar, the Khazraj and the Aus, before Islam). The Prophet (p.b.u.h) lay down and turned his face to the other side. Then Abu Bakr came and spoke to me harshly saying, "Musical instruments of Satan near the Prophet (p.b.u.h) ?" Allah's Apostle (p.b.u.h) turned his face towards him and said, "Leave them." When Abu Bakr became inattentive, I signalled to those girls to go out and they left. It was the day of 'Id, and the Black people were playing with shields and spears; so either I requested the Prophet (p.b.u.h) or he asked me whether I would like to see the display. I replied in the affirmative. Then the Prophet (p.b.u.h) made me stand behind him and my cheek was touching his cheek and he was saying, "Carry on! O Bani Arfida," till I got tired. The Prophet (p.b.u.h) asked me, "Are you satisfied (Is that sufficient for you)?" I replied in the affirmative and he told me to leave.

            Volume 2, Book 15, Number 72
            Narrated Aisha
Abu Bakr came to my house while two small Ansari girls were singing beside me the stories of the Ansar concerning the Day of Buath. And they were not singers. Abu Bakr said protestingly, "Musical instruments of Satan in the house of Allah's Apostle !" It happened on the 'Id day and Allah's Apostle said, "O Abu Bakr! There is an 'Id for every nation and this is our 'Id."

            Volume 5, Book 58, Number 268
            Narrated Aisha
That once Abu Bakr came to her on the day of 'Id-ul-Fitr or 'Id ul Adha while the Prophet was with her and there were two girl singers with her, singing songs of the Ansar about the day of Buath. Abu Bakr said twice. "Musical instrument of Satan!" But the Prophet said, "Leave them Abu Bakr, for every nation has an 'Id (i.e. festival) and this day is our 'Id."

            Volume 6, Book 61, Number 568
            Narrated Abu Musa
That the Prophet said to him' "O Abu Musa! You have been given one of the musical wind-instruments of the family of David .'

            Volume 7, Book 69, Number 494v
Narrated Abu 'Amir or Abu Malik Al-Ash'ari
That he heard the Prophet saying, "From among my followers there will be some people who will consider illegal sexual intercourse, the wearing of silk, the drinking of alcoholic drinks and the use of musical instruments, as lawful. And there will be some people who will stay near the side of a mountain and in the evening their shepherd will come to them with their sheep and ask them for something, but they will say to him, 'Return to us tomorrow.' Allah will destroy them during the night and will let the mountain fall on them, and He will transform the rest of them into monkeys and pigs and they will remain so till the Day of Resurrection."

My best guess is that last hadith I just quoted that closes the deal. ;D

That's such an outrageous hadith. What if I play my guitar to praise God?

if wearing of silk was so bad, why would God REWARD us with it. My conclusion lies attribute to a prophet.

The songs of Elvis Presley were considered "evil" by the older and religious folks. It probably worked this way during medieval Arabia.

                              Salaam

i like to ask you all here, How did Music become HARAM?
Why or how did music become HARAM?

                              Salaam,
In my opinion Music become HARAM when it convey HARAM topic.
Like so many music topic nowadays especially in west countries, lots of them talking about SEX, SEDUCTION, CHECKING ANOTHER MAN/WOMAN's BODY, etc. So powerful this kind of music and so popular till its like an encouraging thing to do such of sin that most people thing "NORMAL", even music that have sound of woman or man in intimate situation and the sadness thing is that those so-called music is so popular and have been listening by so many people.

Music in my opinion is HALAL as long as it contains good topic and HALAL like music to praise Allah, music about the struggle in life, parents etc
                              .
But one of my friend asked me, what about Love song? is it HALAL or HARAM?

                              Salaam

That still doesn't make the music haram. It all depends on the audience and the subject of the song. There is nothing wrong with a person loving another person, and there isn't anything wrong with writing a song about that (and singing it).
It's the same for sexual references.
We don't need some book or person giving us some rigid rule or law that we have to live by. We need to use the context of the situation to understand what is the best thing to do.

in other situations, it's perfectly fine.

                                          Peace

Sexual references in songs are highly degrading to women. Objectifying women in any light, whether it be a song about sex or porn is haram. Even if one does not believe in 'rigid rules' at least show respect to the other half of society. I should add there are songs that objectify men also using sexual references. We as Submitters should live up to higher standards.
                                          Peace all
