LOL @ traditionalists trying to prohibit music using this verse

316 Among the people, there are those who accept baseless hadiths to mislead from the path of God without knowledge, and they take it as entertainment. These will have a humiliating retribution.

Meteora, that scholar kicks ass. O0

I am no longer a Sunna-rejecter. See 4:59-65, 62:2-4, 3:31, 4:156, 7:157 Messenger teaches and is to be followed and obeyed. Examples of revelation received which is not in the Qur'an: 3:123-126, 33:37, 2:187, 66:3, 62:9.

In addition I wanted to say something about the above^ verse....God willing.

...how stupid is it to USE THAT WHICH 316 CONDEMNS, TO ELABORATE ON 316??? rotfl rotfl

Seriously, they use a baseless hadith "lahwal hadith" to ELABORATE on a verse CONDEMNING baseless hadith "lahwal hadith" even despite the fact..............................
          .........
          ........................................ ....................
          ....... ............

..................................Muhammad himself was forbidden to elaborate on anything in the Quran according to 7516-19.

          Pretty sad.

I agree that some rap music is bad, actually, very bad, and is being played by impressionable teenagers and pre-teens who then use the words, or act out the words in an inappropriate way. But most music is good for you.

yeah, I don't like "gangstar" rap too brickwall

I know the subject has strayed all over the place, but the genesis of prohibition of music in Christianity/Judaism/Islam is in Plato's Republic. In the Hebrew Bible David and the Israelites sing and play music as a religious act. But by the first century CE Jesus was relegated to hymns (according the Christian Bible). The reason being the influence of Platonistic thought.

Christians adapted his views on the human voice into Latin Chants. Jews into Nigunim. Muslims into vocalized dhikr..

Only Quran is halal to sing!

Right...that's why you're too busy singing it while taking the hadith for your actual guidance laugh, in fact, that is a statement of their's!

The best words are the words of God and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad <- another way of them saying the best words to sing (and the only halal words to sing) is the Quran and the guidance and way of life is the hadith....lolololol rotfl rotfl

Guess they forgot to obey the TRUE messenger in the Quran who says

Say, "I possess no power to harm you, nor to guide you."

"You (Muhammad) cannot guide even the ones you love. God is the one who guides whomever He wills, for He knows best those who deserve the guidance." (2856)

From what I've witnessed, many focus on the sound of the reading of the Quran, instead of the meaning. They memorise the Quran and read it correctly and with a melody, but how many honestly know what they're saying? They play it instead of music in their cars in Ramadan but they're having a conversation instead of listening to the words. They hit the school children when they pronounce a word wrong (Arabic may not even be their language) but refuse to teach them the meaning.
