For example There are 6 people, 3 white, 1 black, 1 hispanic, 1 indian. There applying for college the whites and black student all get 4.0, the indian kid gets 3.95 gpa, while hispanic kid gets 4.1gpa. They apply for certain college, this college has affirmative action can only accept 4 people....

Then that college should admit the Hispanic kid and any three from the Black kid and three White kids.

2 has to be a minority.....

And that's why affirmative action is wrong.

They accept the black person under affirmative action,

That shouldn't be the basis for admitting the Black kid.

then they accept hispanic(without affirmative action due to high gpa))...

    Good.

they turn down indian kid due to low gpa, and they accept 2 white people and turn down 1 white person(mainly due to black person getting in due to affirmative action).

Do you realize that cases involving affirmative action can't always be so dandy? Surely there are cases in which minority kids with very low scores have been admitted into college simply because of affirmative action.

That's not racism, that the black person got it over one of the white person, they both had same credential, the school just wanted to be equal.

The school would be stupid to take race into account. It would be better for the school to assess them on other things like interviews, etc.

One of them wasn't going to make it.

It should be the worst overall who doesn't make it.

Yes the affirmative action helped the black person only because they were equally qualified. If the black person had a 3.9 they couldn't bump him up...they usually look for minorities that have the same CREDENTIALS or higher that there trying to bump in...

Is that what happens always? All I'm saying is that people shouldn't see colour at all.

      Good.

What you said made no sense they would admit everyone if they could how is that racist they both had same gpa main pupose of affirmative action is giving minorities chances they lost when they were being discriminated against, still you haven't shown how it is wrong, it makes sense

Do you realize that cases involving affirmative action can't always be so dandy? Surely there are cases in which minority kids with very low scores have been admitted into college simply because of affirmative action.

This would require proof now wouldn't it of course there are people that cheat the system and their are whole in every system but that's what the goal is for affirmative action, of course it doesn't come off so easy

The school would be stupid to take race into account. It would be better for the school to assess them on other things like interviews, etc.

Exactly why the indian kid with the lower gpa didn't make it, under affirmative action a kid with lower test scores can't just bump someone over there usually very equal

Is that what happens always? All I'm saying is that people shouldn't see colour at all.

I agree but the way it is to be run makes sense, but unfortunately I doubt it's done like this and many people cheat the system

The point is, you are still picking one over the other based solely on race. Race should never be a deciding factor, whether it is in the favor of minorities or not.

Well I agree, it isn't right except in rare occasion where the community has been proven to be very racist and segregated(some areas still this day still are) I'm indifferent on the subject of affirmative action, I only support it now due to the No Child Left Behind scam which is ruining poor schools

          Salaam,

Everyone has the right to a formal education. No human being of any color is powerful enough to "give" you an education. Allah has granted you a formal education.

Everyone has the right not to be oppressed. It is not up to a certain group of humans to "grant" civil rights to another groups of humans. Allah has made sure you've been blessed enough to live comfortably with respect to certain human rights.

Allah granted you that education and those basic human rights with the hope that you would acknowledge where those blessings came from. I'm sorry, but by giving credit to white people - or any group of people - for your blessings, you are taking credit away from The Almighty.

          Ma'salaama,
          T.

          Peace,
You bring up great points about how people are entitled to basic rights. I could not agree more. I thank God for all that he has given me and ultimately everything is from Him since he created everything. However, if person A gives some money to person B. Person A did this good out of free will so he deserves some credit. Even though person A got money through God's blessing, he still had the choice to give it to person B or keep it for himself. Your line of thinking, negates free will since God is controlling men's actions behind the scenes which is not the case. I am grateful to God and also to the people I have come into contact with from whom I have learned a great deal.
          God Bless,
          Said Mirza

The reason for the problems with white societies is that they come from countries which have few natural resources. It is this which has driven them to plunder and ethnically cleanse three continents worth of people as well as be the major spark of and recipients of the slave trade (so not quite a fourth continent). Their immorality has also been sanctioned directly by their religious leaders.

However, it is also through such natural poverty that they have done great things such as the industrial revolution.

I was most interested at the shock people had when confronted with an obvious truth of the genocides carried out by Europeans.

Bear in mind that ARABS were as involved in the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade as "white" people (whatever that means, as it is a largely American political construct). A big difference is that Arabs countries didn't outlaw the same slavery until much later. If Malcolm X had gone to Saudi early in his career he would have seen that slavery was not yet prohibited under law!

Everyone should watch that, especially everyone who thinks White people have reason to feel guilty for what White people of the past did. The god doesn't see colour!

I consider "race" arbitrary. There are no white or black people. There are people who are light and dark and alot of color in between the two extremes. Everyone, go and grab someone who's lighter or darker than you and mix. If that's what it takes to kill the idea of race. There are evil people who are light and evil people who are dark. We all do the same things. We can all meld into any culture.

                    Peace,

Everyone, go and grab someone who's lighter or darker than you and mix. If that's what it takes to kill the idea of race. There are evil people who are light and evil people who are dark. I disagree with this, to an extent. There are "original people", and then there are other people who don't fit this criteria. They don't have to be characterized as "black" or "white" to fit these two mold, they only have to display the physical characteristics of the groups, which includes skin color. Interracial mixing creates confusion and a lack of heritage, even though I'm not personally against it. Some people would rather preserve their ethnical and national identity and heritage, passing it on to their children, and this makes them against intermixing races and cultures... Also, mixing races won't eliminate the problem of racism, it'll only reduce it to a smaller factor. It won't be black versus white, it'll be lighter skinned versus darker skinned. It'll turn into curly hair versus straight hair, or wider nose versus slim nose. People have a way of discriminating against others who don't fit the mold, regardless of what the individual characteristics are. They'll always create reasons to hate others because they look or act differently than "everyone else". This is already the case when it comes to black and white racial groups. A prime example of this was Adolf Hitler's plan to turn the "white" Germans against the "white" Jews. If race (or color) is not the target of the hatred, the target will become something else...

                    Peace,

                    Ahmad
