HOW WILL THE UNIVERSE END?

Well, I wasnt using Qur'an to try to answer that. Rather, was trying to explain it using modern scientific ideas based on observed facts combined wth pylosophy of nature combined and strict mathematic principles. Yes, as muslims we may wish to investigate into the Qur'anic ideas. But thats comparing religion with science, not practicing science. Science is the way, the truth and the light ...lol. I believe Allah wants us to follow the truth !!

Which basically question->hypothesis A->test->hypothesis B->test (until you find satisfiable hypothesis to the question)
Follow it then you shall progress 'closer' towards the truth..Salam / Peace

The Day when We shall roll up the heavens as a recorder rolleth up a written scroll. As We began the first creation, We shall repeat it. (It is) a promise (binding) upon Us. Lo! We are to perform it.

21104 is a good verse which I think ties in nicely with the theory of the big crunch. If you have not heard of it check the description on this link

I think the theory of the big bang and the theory of the big crunch ties in nicely with the verse ''To Allah we belong and to him we shall return''

In agreement with you, Science takes us closer to the truth everyday. This methodology is awesome, it isnt biased , it doesnt care about what your personal belief is.

Science is a great methodology, and it has given great knowledge in many fields. In other fields of research it doesn't work as well, since there's no reliably quantifiable data to work with.
Cosmology and astronomy is a field where science and engineering combined has produced astonishing insights into creation.
As for how it will all end, I prefer the weight of God's words over the latest human guesses on the mass of the universe, and how this will affect expansion/contraction. That doesn't mean that I don't appreciate the labor of those who strive to make better and better guesses. -

The great thing about 'scientific methodology' and 'scientific culture' over 'dogmatic sectarian/religious culture' is that everything are free to be questioned, re-questioned and re-examined.
There are no such thing as "BLASPHEMY" in science...
Scientific culture really applies the basic fundamental concept being told in the Quran..
"There are no compulsory in Belief as Truth stands out clear from error". (2256)Historical example
Copernicus convicted with 'blasphemy' due to his theory of 'Sun as the center of the Universe' against the sectarian priest dogma of "Earth as the center of the universe". As it turns out BOTH Hypothesis are WRONG! Both Sun and Earth is NOT the center of the universe.As human learned more they realize that the question itself need to be re-examined.. to determine the 'center of the universe' we need to define "What is the Universe" which is the focus of cosmology / astronomical science at the moment. There are probability that there are no such thing as the 'center of the universe'.
Having said that;
The 'big crunch' is the logical end to the 'big bang'..
Contracted universe is the logical end to the 'expanding universe'.
This is the 'current trend'.. however it's (always) open for re-questioning and re-examination.
And nobody will get charged of "Blasphemy" and/or received death threat by doing so...Salam / Peace

Very interesting take on this verse. The horn in the Quran could possibly describe the shape of the universe itself. In any case we can never be certain about this interpretation. But I still like it.

whatever says the science (big crunch or eternal expansion utils atoms disaggregation), universe is the GOD of atheits and should die, like all other false divinities.

KhalilI think this refers to rain clouds.
In reality, nobody knows yet, because we can't measure dark matter. That's why we have several models, the least possible today is what was termed the Big Crunch or Big Bounce in the 90's. Space - not gravitationally bound objects - is expanding at an acceleration rate and nobody today knows what the ratio between gravity and inflation is.

Who is we?
If you would care to take things in context, you would have noticed that the topic is about the Universe and its ending and since the beginning people like "Student of Allah" have defined it as "our general understanding of the universe" and "Jafar" said that "Science is a methodology" and "Abdul-Hadi" defined it as "Some say", "KDC501" says "we can never be certain", "renztubz" says it's "Nobody knows" so what we are talking about is humanity and the empirical evidence provided by science for the end of the Universe and how the Koran fits into the picture.

It'd be lame if the world ended before I finished university. I wouldn't wanna die having done nothing but exams and sitting in the library my entire life ;D
Jokes aside, has anyone else read this? I haven't read the entirety of Rashad Khalifa's translation of the Quran and I'm kinda wary of the whole '19' thing, but this seems kinda interesting at the very least.
In my opinion, it's best not to worry too much about when the world will end. It'd be nice to know when it'll happen, but the scientists and philosiphers capable of possibly putting together an answer could probably better devote their time doing something more useful.

How sure are we that the universe will "end"? The Qur'aan speaks emphatically about the 'day of judgment' occurring sometime in the future, whether near or distant. However, this doesn't mean that the universe will "end" sometime in the future. We can all assume different things in connection with this, but none of us know for sure...
