Who was the greatest among all the messengers and prophets?
-
One may like one prophet more than another or feel affinity with any of them, but objectively they are one. The risala is one. if we honour a prophet we honour all prophets, and if we do not honour one prophet, we do not honour any. As much as you cannot love your stomach and hate your fingers, unless you are nuts.
Salaam

We believe in all prophets and respect all prophets. But there is only Prophet who has been sent to All mankind till Day of judgement not others.

I do not know any prophets; they are all gone and only know what came to me is Qur?an.
Therefore, there is no way to distinguish between any of them, peace be upon all of them.

Peace,
How would Allah be fair if Allah prefers one person over another without that one doing an extra job? If the two men were not doing the same, exact effort, then what Allah would do would not be called favoring. Allah would be rewarding each of them as much as each of them deserves. Favoring CANNOT exist in the calculations of Allah. Every person gets what he/she deserves, in reward or in punishment.
Those who think that Allah plays favorites, need to seriously reevaluate their whole understanding of Allah, Islam and deen ASAP.peace

The above CANNOT is your criterion of what is fairness.

And (O Prophet,) We have sent you to the entire mankind as a' bearer of good news and a warner, but most people do not know
622
(622)He it is Who has raised a Messenger among the gentiles' *2 from among themselves, who recites to them His Revelations, purifies them and teaches them the Book and the Wisdom, *3 whereas before this they were indeed lost in manifest error
623
(623) And is also for those others who have not yet joined them. *5 Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise.

RegardsThere is only one prophet whom God has spoken to directly...
There is only one prophet whom God had strenghen with the Rooh Al Quds and who could cure the blind and turn a clay bird alive....
The list can go on like this... but its futile

Peace,
Respectfully.I would say Messenger Ibraheem. After all, he was tempted to kill his son. Then again, Nuh did see The Flood. Moosa split the sea. Isaa ascended. Prophet Muhammad visited Spanish peninsula....i don't know.
But for me, personally, the best one is prophet Jusuf. The amount of patience he had .... to be thrown into the well, to be sold as a slave, to be nearly raped, to be thrown into jail wrongfully and stay there for decades - and still not to complain, lose nerves or get angry .... that is one True Muslim.
Peace.

You are right but those prophets were sent only to their own "nations" not all mankind.

RegardsTo a single Nation or to All mankind... The challenge REMAINS the same for all... The difficulties they had facing the disbelievers were harsh and almost fatal... Ibraheem was even THROWN INTO THE FIRE... The message is the same... One God!

No one is denying the nature of message.
"Thrown into Fire" ,then how was he saved ? Miracle ???

RegardsAt the time of prophet Muhammad, there were Christians and Jews around. They were left alone to practice their religions. How does that go with the "all mankind" belief? All religions were to all mankind around them, depending on the communications systems at the time, and Allah's plan. There is no privilege in the amount of land that a messenger covered or the number of people who complied. A messenger would follow All'as command, regardless.

2136 Say, "We acknowledge God and what was sent down to us and what was sent down to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, the Patriarchs, what was given to Moses and Jesus, and what was given to the prophets from their Lord; we do not make a distinction between any of them and to Him we are submitters."
4152 Those who acknowledge God and His messengers and do not make a distinction between any of them, We will give them their rewards. God is Forgiving, Compassionate.
The only distinction
829 O you who acknowledge, if you are aware of God, He will make for you a distinction, and He will cancel your sins and forgive you. God is possessor of great favor.
1779 From the night you shall reflect upon it additionally for yourself, perhaps your Lord would grant you to a high rank.

Of course God makes/does what He wills, but based on what? On justness and fairness OR the color of your eyes!?
Eid,
Baa6il (falsehood) CANNOT exist in Allah's calculation.
Why you asking me what how God wills or calculates things including the color of my eyes?

RegardsI guess I meant who inspires you. The debate has gone to another level. We are not making seperation and we are not rejecting one for another. They were all of one faith. Nufariq means seperate.
You obviously believe Muhammad. However the reason you gave about all of mankind does not make sense. Since Jesus and Moses and even David and Solomon are known by billions of people also.
