Quran only?

There's absolutely nothing useless in reciting the Quran whether you understood it or not. Just open your heart and pray for guidance and you will get whatever you need to get. The message itself is spiritual. It is far bigger and deeper than earthly language. The message is clear, simple and direct no one needs to go to any details or explanations or even reciting the Quran to get the message and guidance.
For believers, Quran is but one means to stir what is already within (that which is nearer than the jugular vein). Whether illiterate or non Arab, a believer can get it and heal from it. Those who don't believe and need to be convinced won't get it no matter what.handshakepeace
That is call faith and it is good but without understanding the massage will create more idiots as it already did. &

Please lets not lable any sec or group as being collectively evil or misguided, but lets concentrate on ourselves and try to take the best examples to help us achieve righteousness. I have been guilty of this in the past and its not good.

Sects are competitions between understandings.

they say there will be 71 christian ones, 72 jewish ones, 73 muslim ones... you know what they say... i heard there's several thousand just christian sects... i'm sure there more then 100 muslim ones, at least over last 1400 years... which kinda denotes the whole 71,72,73 thing...

Not sure I understood you there. Do you mean that sects are in competition with each other?
Yes, when one's understanding becomes the right one while all else is false! When you belong to a sect it is like telling the others that you are smarter, that you know better, etc.. and so you ought to be stronger than the other in order to protect and defend your understanding and the sect that holds and supports that understanding from the other, and so forth..
Say, "He is the Able to send upon you affliction from above you or from beneath your feet or to dress you (put onto) you sects and make you taste the violence of one another." Look how We diversify the signs that they might understand. (665)

I have a long weekend, i may not get back to you but inshallah I look forward to discussing your post as soon as I get a chance.
Please take the poll i have posted to see where Quran onliers stand with regards to hadith (i tried to capture as much of the variant positions as possible).I guess the weekend seems to be very very long indeed.... sun

Allah only revealed one book to the prophet muhammad "bigmo on the money" not satisfied with what God sent huh?
Then add to it and take away from it. But you will have to account for it.

Wama min dabbatin fee al-ardi wala ta-irin yateeru bijanahayhi illa omamun amthalukum ma farratna fee alkitabi min shay-in thumma ila rabbihim yuhsharoona
YUSUFALI There is not an animal (that lives) on the earth, nor a being that flies on its wings, but (forms part of) communities like you. Nothing have we omitted from the Book, and they (all) shall be gathered to their Lord in the end.
PICKTHAL There is not an animal in the earth, nor a flying creature flying on two wings, but they are peoples like unto you. We have neglected nothing in the Book (of Our decrees). Then unto their Lord they will be gathered.
SHAKIR And there is no animal that walks upon the earth nor a bird that flies with its two wings but (they are) genera like yourselves; We have not neglected anything in the Book, then to their Lord shall they be gathered.
KHALIFA All the creatures on earth, and all the birds that fly with wings, are communities like you. We did not leave anything out of this book. To their Lord, all these creatures will be summoned.006.114

YUSUFALI Say "Shall I seek for judge other than Allah? - when He it is Who hath sent unto you the Book, explained in detail." They know full well, to whom We have given the Book, that it hath been sent down from thy Lord in truth. Never be then of those who doubt.
PICKTHAL Shall I seek other than Allah for judge, when He it is Who hath revealed unto you (this) Scripture, fully explained? Those unto whom We gave the Scripture (aforetime) know that it is revealed from thy Lord in truth. So be not thou (O Muhammad) of the waverers.
SHAKIR Shall I then seek a judge other than Allah? And He it is Who has revealed to you the Book (which is) made plain; and those whom We have given the Book know that it is revealed by your Lord with truth, therefore you should not be of the disputers.
KHALIFA Shall I seek other than GOD as a source of law, when He has revealed to you this book fully detailed? Those who received the scripture recognize that it has been revealed from your Lord, truthfully. You shall not harbor any doubt.But know one thing for sure, God does not need the help of buhkari,muslim, or any other fabricator.

becareful_knowledge/hadith arguer having the nerve of arguing for hadith authenticity...just stop. Even the most prominent sunni's (their voice mp3 lectures, pdf files) are getting refuted by little old me. There is no point in arguing an ended debate. Sunni islam is 100% arbitrary and based on man-made traditions. The Quran is not even 80% of sharia' but 100% the halal version of music and an easy way to heaven simply via recitation laugh. Even the hadith saying uttering some words praising God forgives a sin each time proves it. Since this is in the general sense a sin of rape and a sin of infant slaughter can be forgiven with a "subhanallah + walhamdulillah". giveup
I bet Bukhari did not even make tafsir for verses 456 + 6837 otherwise they would have been pretty laughable.
