    peace,

Peace, Jack and Wakas. Since you have responded to my call; it would be correct to assume that you both consider yourselves as Linguists of Classic Arabic, the language of AlKitab.

Your assumption would be incorrect, but you are free to make it.

Hence, if one were to accept this as a word of classic Arabic. Following issues deserve some consideration and explanation.

    1. If it is true? Do you want to re-invent Classic Arabic. If yes why so?
    2. If it is not 5 stem pattern word, does it has Affix or Suffix? If so what are those?
    3. If it is neither of above two? Then, is it a combination of stem/roots. If so what are those?
    4. If one can not answer all above; are we willing to accept that language of AlKitab is lost language? Hence, needs rediscovering, or else one can continue to live in delusional and hallucination world of tradition; which has gotten us no where in hundreds of years so far.
    5. If none of the above, one has to at the least accept the notion, that this is not a word of Classic Arabic and barrowed from another language. Hence, Classic Arabic or Qureshi Arabic afterall is not so chaste as claimed to be.

Firstly, I believe you missed one possible option out it could be a proper noun.

Secondly, to reflect upon your point 5, please see my first post in this thread.

I forgot to say do you mean there are no 5 letter roots at all?

Apparently, there are 6 letter roots
e.g. zanjablan 7617 / zy nn jm b' y' lm (some do not include the ya)
      salsablan 7618

Is there any one whom, I can have a rationale discussion on this topic? Sorry Wakas, for making a wrong assumption.

                      Peace,

this word apparently is from hebrew like many others

Jahannam, Hell2 This word also, like its opposite Paradise, is of Jewish origin. According to its primary meaning and Biblical usage it too is the name of a place, though of a locality far less important than that which gave its name to Paradise. The vale of Hinnom was nothing more than a spot dedicated to idol worship and it is remarkable that the horror of idolatry led to the use of its name to designate hell. That this is the ordinary name for it in the Talmud needs no proof, and from it is derived the New Testament name Gehenna. Now, it might be asserted that Muhammad got this word front the Christians; but, even setting aside the argument that, as the name for Paradise is Jewish the probabilities are in favour of a Jewish origin for the word for hell also, the form of the word itself speaks for its derivation from Judaism. We lay no stress on the fact that the aspirate he, which is not expressed in the Greek, reappears in the Arabic, because this aspirate though not always indicated by grammarians in writing, appears to have been always sounded in speech. This holds good of other Greek words which have passed into Syriac.3 The letter mim which stands at the end of the Arabic (Jahannam), not being found in the Syriac word, proves the derivation from the

Dear Herbman, I want to thank you and acknowledge you for well researched, reason and logic based responses, duly backed by appropriate references. However, it is becoming increasingly apparent to me that actual message is more about, what Modern scholars of philosophy call Natural Laws. Hence, to use words relating to Divine mythology will not make sense. What do you think?

Firstly, I believe you missed one possible option out it could be a proper noun.

                            "And We have declared/appointed"

                            Proper Name

                            "for the deniers/rejecters/disbelievers"

                            Indefinite, accusative.
and can be taken both as Active participle and passive participle.

                            "As prison-one that restrains/imprisons within a protected/demarcated/guarded area".

Dear all, just to clearify for ones who are wondering about this issue of proper noun. In classic Arabic there are only three kind of words. Nouns, verbs and particles. There is no seperate class of proper nouns. Proper nouns morphology follows the same structural rules as described above in my post.
