Ayat al-Kursi 2:255

Aha. Qur'an "proves" that women can't be clever. Nice attempt at provocation. rotfl
No, not that way , I said you're "Ruse" but not clever . This is your way of taking things not by being inteligent but by using a way "ruse" to take what you want . But man uses inteligent and logic to take what he wants .
Just came across this. Reciting Ayat al-Kursi protects people from getting raped.
True Story of a Young Girl Reciting Ayat-ul-kursiThe following is a true incident that happened.
It was reported in a local paper in Rochdale (A town, northeast of Manchester), of a young woman who was raped in a small dark alley (a narrow passage between buildings) one evening.
On a separate evening around the same time, a young Muslim girl was walking home from college. Aware that it was getting dark fast, she wanted to get home as soon as possible, so her mother would not be worrying about her being outside alone at night.
The young Muslim girl faced a dilemma. To take the short-cut down the same alleyway to avoid getting home after dark, or to take the longer route and have her mother worrying herself sick about her daughters safety.
Conscious of the time, she takes the alleyway. While the girl is walking she sees a rather sinister and dark figure of a man walking towards her from the other end. As her pace quickens,
she begins to read Ayat-ul-kursi for her safety.
The man, he makes eye contact but carries on walking.
When the young Muslim girl reaches home she tells her family about this sinister looking man, they advise her to contact the police, after having read the newspaper article some time before. When she contacts the police they ask her to give a physical description of the man. It matches the description the rape victim had given.
Some days later the young Muslim girl receives a phone call from the police, asking her if she would come down to the police station to identify the man in a line up. Both the rape victim and the Muslim girl pick out the same man.
The police are confused; they ask the rapist why he attacked one girl and not the other.
In reference to the Muslim girl, he replies
?why would I attack her? when she was walking with two huge men on either side of her??
Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Aalameen.
http//dailyreminders.org/true-story-of-a-young-girl-reciting-ayat-ul-kursi/The story is right but I think there is a little bit of distortion in your story . The girl has read many different surah and verses including Ayat Al-Kursi. And the story could be true, could be wrong but if you use Quran, you'll see that this kind of stories can be occured 80 % and God knows.

No, not that way , I said you're "Ruse" but not clever .
Look, why don't you try learning to understand English? It is really tiring that you misunderstand even the most simple statements.
You were saying that women can be cunning but not clever. I got that the first time.
Reformer said clever is miles away from being that way, with proof from Quran about woman and you're a woman .
Leyna said Aha. Qur'an "proves" that women can't be clever.
Reformer said No, not that way , I said you're "Ruse" but not clever .
Anyway. Let's skip the silly squabbles and stick to the subject. If you want to discuss women's supposedly inferior intelligence, open a new thread. Thanks.

I said you're "ruse" but not clever . you said "aha women can't be clever" , I didn't say " can't " , they can but using another way .
P.S who needs classes in english you or me ?. As I see " you are not " it is not "you can't" >>> isn't ?

Do they? I always felt he is tafsir al-Qur'an bil ahadeeth. hypno
Well same here. It's typical sloganeering really. Just like how Bukhari is the 'second most correct book after the Quran'
Yeah, I got pretty frustrated when I read all that stuff. Long-winded blabla about the benefits of reciting it, but no reflecting on the actual content of this beautiful verse.
There are tafsir works which do focus on the meanings too but I tend to disagree with their approach which is essentially finding synonyms for the words.
A lot of this actually sounds like supersition to me. But then the whole thing about reciting this or that aya for protection / reward etc. does not make much sense to me at all. It's the contents that counts, not mindless recitation, or putting a verse on your wall, around your neck etc. Reminds me of the people who put a copy of the Qur'an on the dashboard of their car, believing it will protect them ...
Haha, exactly. The Quran has become a talisman. No need to read, just paste it P

I've always found that a bit disturbing. How can placing a Qur'an in your car, or hanging a verse around your neck protect you from anything? That is just superstition imho. Also, I would never put any book, much less the Qur'an, in a dusty, dirty place, such as the dashboard of a Cairo taxi, for example.
The funny thing is that some of the people who do this are at the same telling you that you should wear gloves when touching the Qur'an while on your period ... yeah, right.

My gran had the Quran recited for her AFTER she died. Of course the guy who did it was paid for his trouble.

Th1/Mindhunter/SEBASTIAN/Poster boy for the Sociopaths Association,
Sir, the Quran says
24/27 O ye who believe! enter not houses other than your own, until ye have asked permission and saluted those in them that is best for you, in order that ye may heed
Your permission to be here has now been revoked. No doubt you can find other IP addresses but if you believed in Quranic ethos, should you be in someone else's house without permission?

Sheesh!
Try to register in a sunni forum and behave like a certain member has been behaving here ... derailing threads, yelling, screaming, insulting people, committing takfir, telling people in their introduction threads that they have come to the wrong place and so on. You'd be banned faster than you could say "astaghfirullah".
I believe the mods have actually been very kind. I used to be an administrator in a forum for years, and I would have banned him much earlier.
nope

Yes, I remind you of your worst nightmares, you have ever seen or dreamt about it .
Now, I'm asking you to remove the ban if you're truthful, banned me will just make my situation more stronger that what I said is the truth, you said use Quran , all my verses are about Quran.
The debate was not fair, he asked me, I answered him, I asked him, he didn't answer . Why ? you tell me .
Selam
offtopic Can we please stick to the topic. Behave and be respected. No one is telling you not to debate but please do not think you know it all.
Peace

I've came across that 'true' story a few times before, but strangely enough it's been taking place in so many different places o
Funy how some muslims, not meaning you Leyna! , love to forward and spread things they haven't got slightest idea of if it is tue or not sighs

In my opinion, the stuff hope4 posted is a serious diversion from the actual analysis and application of the text. Wow, life is so ostensibly easy for these guys huh. Just recite 2/255 and all these magical things happen. Ibn Kathir is not much help either. Quoting people saying how great it is without providing a shred of textual evidence about it. I dunno how people say Ibn Kathir is 'tafsir al-quran bil quran'. This is certainly not an example of it.
To me, the best thing that ever happened to my reading of 2/255 was when the imam read it in context. He read from 2/254 all the way to 2/257. To me, that was so enlightening because 2/254 (which is about spending in the way of Allah) connects so well with 2/255's message of having God's quality of 'hayy' and 'qayyom' on your side.
Could you elaborate this some more? It would be interesting to see your understanding of it.

True Story of a Young Girl Reciting Ayat-ul-kursi
I hear these stories all the time. So God didn't protect the other girl just because she didn't read those verses? The Quran isn't like witchcraft where you say a few magic words and you get what you want. It's like when they say you have to say mashallah to protect yourself from the evil eye.
