    Peace,
    Respect.

Well, if you got the time, get many dogs and get any size you want, but living in the city means sacrifice.
My grandfather had a dog and when I wanted to take him for a walk, they all looked at me like i'm from Saturn or something.
Dogs are free in the village.

Anyway, stick with a tank fish, ;D
    Peace.

Ahhh kill it! Kill it!! I hate it when their tails pop off, I have nightmares about lizards!

I read somewhere that dogs will compete for being the leader of the pack which they consider the family, and if the owner/etc is meek, they're essentially not going to be respected. Rather get a cat, who occasionally looks your direction but leaves you be to sun in the sun the rest of the time. No walks, no fetch, no slobber, no baths, no barks. Bliss.

My cat would try to drive me insane when he wanted attention and I had no time for him. I would sit at the computer and try to work, and he would run through the apartment screaming, scratching the Persian carpet and so on. So, no, cats aren't only decorative and cuddly. ;D

Mine are both Maine Coon's. Excellent breed, huge like a small dog, very silky soft fur, good with kids and best of all...quiet companions. They'll follow you around sometimes, they want to sit in the same vicinity etc but don't ask for attention. Quiet voices too, can never hear them unless it's time for dinner or they've spotted a bird and start trilling...awesome mousers as well as a bonus.

100% true. It's for the good of the family. A survival instinct. A weak leader cannot be respected/trusted. Only the strong survive. That being said, once the human becomes a good leader, they will respect, be loyal to him/her 'till death.
I prefer dogs because I actually 'get' their logic. Plus, they've taught me a lot about the universal language of energy that we all speak fluently, consciously or subconsciously. Further, they make such wonderful companions. Every dog owner will swear that their dog has the personality to die for.

Dogs and humans sort of evolved together. There was something on some learning channel with the difference between domesticated dogs and wild ones.

I've read that dogs and cats both apparently domesticated themselves. Some cunning wolf and wild cat really really long ago learned to beg and play docile and allow pets and pats and found he'd get food in return without having to hunt for it. I guess the pack mentality carried over naturally, and so the guarding instincts and herding instincts followed over as well. And somehow barking developed, I have no clue about that.

I don't have the source material, but I read that a Russian scientist sometime in the early or mid twentieth century, selected the more docile and more amiable silver foxes from a larger sample, and bred them separately. The later generations of these friendly dog like foxes had shorter snouts, floppy ears like dogs etc. The physically differing traits manifested very quickly.

Beautiful! But I would dread all that long hair. I have a foster cat with longish hair at the moment, and if I don't vacuum every day, there will be furballs everywhere.

Excellent breed, huge like a small dog

My cat (RIP) weighed over eight kilograms, and he was not fat ... really huge guy.

Oh yes, the long hair is a big issue. The worst is not the vacuuming but the regurgitated furballs lying about in choice places. Almost like they bought a mouse back home as a gift. My eldest is around 8.6 kg, she's spayed so they pile on the pounds apparently...she's also 8 years old this year, I'll be heartbroken when it's her time.

Savage_Carrot, Leyna, I think you should introduce your cats to each other.
I mean, that way you'll make sure their DNA goes Celine Dion and it'll give you a chance to discuss one of these topics in person.
                              Just a suggestion.

                              Peace.

Isn't this akin to Jesus (pbuh) chewing out the pharisees because they placed the talmud over the Torah and placed the laws of men over the laws of God?

I agree with your views. And dogs are some of the most intelligent animals on earth

Below are some absurd or strange fabricated hadiths about dogs.

Do not enter a house where there is a dog

Book 1, Number 0227 Narrated Ali ibn AbuTalib
The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said Angels do not enter the house where there is a picture, or a dog, or a person who is sexually defiled.

Dogs should be killed, Dogs should not be killed

Book 16, Number 2840 Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah
The Prophet of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) ordered to kill dogs, and we were even killing a dog which a woman brought with her from the desert. Afterwards he forbade to kill them, saying Confine yourselves to the type which is black.

Dogs can be used for hunting

                                    Book 16, Number 2850 Narrated AbuTha'labah al-Khushani
The Apostle of Allah (peace_be_upon_him) said to me AbuTha'labah, eat what returns to you by your bow and your dog.
Ibn Harb's version adds "The trained (dog), and your hand, then eat, whether it has been slaughtered or not slaughtered".

The price paid for a dog is impure

Book 23, Number 3414 Narrated Rafi' ibn Khadij
The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said The earnings of a cupper are impure, the price paid for a dog is impure, and the hire paid to a prostitute is impure.

The price paid for a dog is not accepted

                                    Book 23, Number 3421 Narrated AbuMas'ud
The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) forbade the price paid for a dog, the hire paid to a prostitute, and the gift given to a soothsayer.

The vessel a dog has used should be washed 7 times

Book 002, Number 0548 Abu Huraira reported The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said
When a dog drinks out of a vessel belonging to any one of you, he must wash it seven times.

Animals and the voracious dog are harmful and should be killed in the state of ihram

Book 007, Number 2718 A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported Allah'* Apostle (may peace be upon him) as saying
Five are the harmful things which should be killed in the state of Ihram or otherwise snake, speckled crow. rat. voracious dog, and kite.

Maine Coons are cool. My cat is a mutt. I have no idea what he is, but he is the FATTEST cat in town. Weighs 12+ lbs. Wanna get either a Ragdoll, or a Ragamuffin. Those guys are MONSTERS! And just for the record, I just adore black cats.
yes, thats called a cat Alen, btw i have cats, have 3 now
one of my cats is a Maine Coon also! although its not a pure breed , a mix between maine coon and persian. And yes, she is bigger than my other cats. when she was small she used to follow us around, cant even sleep if left alone, sometimes she will sleep in front of your face, as if acting like a guardian
but now not so much, and she will go gaga if she sees a bird
maybe we should open new thread and talk about our pets and share some pictures as well

                                        Peace,
                                        Respect.

I had a neighbor once and she had like little over 20 cats. Man, her little apartments appeared to be alive and she was depressed ....maybe that's why.
Anyway, you should definetely put up some photos of the cat.

If anyone has a dog, please, don't be shy, love the photos.
It's little boring these days, I'm surrounded with ....wrong crows ....

                                        Peace.

stan-b, i love black cats also, use to have a black cat before, he was the most gentle cat that i know, will never jump at your table when ure eating, and when other cats are eating, he will let the others eat first, after that then he will eat, but he died already, so sad....

and i love black dogs also! saw a black poodle at a pet store yesterday, it was so cuuuteee! feel like hugging it, but my dad was there, so no chance at all >(
