Great to see all the comments and animal lovers here... Its a pity we are a minority in the muslim community. I used to have a German Shepherd many years back... was a handsome fellow, sadly he died at a young age. Mom cried a lot. Never had a pet since then.

Salaam umzy01, I'm doing well thank you. I'd actually been off on a pilgrimage... Went for Umra to Mecca! Praise Allah, everything went on fine. Feel so peaceful and enlightened after the journey.

Can read about it on www.harris.blog.com

    Peace sun

If you are interested; here is an interesting thread about the reality of Kaaba

Who built the kaaba that is in Mecca?

If you are interested; here is an interesting thread about the reality of Kaaba

Who built the kaaba that is in Mecca?

        Salaam RasulHamsa,

Thank you for the comment. Yes, I've seen that thread but had paid no attention to all those mumblings. Most of the comments seemed to range from ignorant disbelievers to total jerks. One of them even had the audacity to say that 'he' built the kaabah.

Regarding who built the Kaabah, well I'm no historian, so I can only base my beliefs from that taught in the Holy Quran. And since it is clearly mentioned in The Book in multiple verses that Haj and Umra are decreed AND since THAT is the only place proclaimed by the Prophet for those pilgrimages, I see absolutely no reason to doubt the importance of the Kaabah.

Now regarding Jacob, Solomon not visiting Mecca, or why Abraham's connection with Mecca is not mentioned in the history of "others", well we in the 21st century are nobody to judge where they travelled based on some material available with the Jews and Christians that has been revised a zillion times anyways to match their whims and fancies.
The argument would be like proclaiming that Safa and Marwah hold no importance for pilgrims performing Haj or Umra. Why? Coz Hagar was never mentioned in the Holy Quran! Thus both Abraham and she may never have come to safa, marwah or mecca... ryt?

One can either believe in the whole Quran or nothing at all. It is when we believe in parts that the confusion arises.

Hope you will not be influenced by the thoughts of the disbelievers. May He guide us all in the straight path.

        Khuda Hafiz.

yeah, on another forum that revolves around the city I live in someone posted something in the politics & religion forum about dogs in islam, I think the article from submission.org on the subject. Then I posted something supporting him, immediately I received an admonition in a private message from someone telling me I am doing "a disservice to islam" through the course of the conversation he showed me a hadith which says dog saliva is "najis" or something like that, can't remember the word...I responded with a general refutation of hadith, he immediately begged me to "think rationally"

the conversation continued I mentioned the Qu'ran is fully detailed/well distinguished. His brilliant response

Does the Qu'ran talk about dinosaurs? Fully detailed?
Does the Qu'ran talk about biology? Fully detailed?

After some more back and forth replies I blocked him...

The Quran is FULLY DETAILED, just give 6114 as a shiled, God willing.
Now, when it comes to subjects like dinosaurs or how to make pasta or should we have dogs, then one must first go through The Quran and then see how the muslims lived before.

When it comes to dinosaurs - start digging.
When it comes to food - kitchen is that way, amigo.
When it comes to dogs - 1818.

Don't have to block him, give him The Quran, God willing.
              Glory be to God.
              Peace.

Dogs was being banned in the 'Book Of Rumours" as legalized by sunni clerics due to some rumours narrated from a shady character named "FATHER OF THE CATS" (Abu Hurayrah)

                Salam / Peace

I bet if a sunni was in some dark alley and a mugger appeared out of the darkness, he'd probably be very happy to see this friend

I mean, who wouldn't, he can jump during an exercise, can you imagine what "wlfie" would do to a thief?

                    Salaam,

That guy who was asking where in the Holy Quran does it talk about dinosaurs has an illogical question..... Coz "dinosaur" is just a term that we people in the modern age use. As far as the Creator is concerned, those lizards were just like every other creature that He has created and required no special mention... And anyways there are lotsa verses that mention the 'variety' in creation.

We people on the other hand are just fascinated by them dinos coz their bodies are so huge, they're extinct and they also starred in Spielberg's Jurassic Park! yes

                    Peace.

Maybe we can speed up growth of praying mantice or parrots....
                      Just a thought.

Basically he was trying to refute that the Qu'ran is fully detailed as in fully detailed about every single thing. It is fully detailed about salvation. You don't need to be a Biology Professor or a Paleontologist to get into heaven.

He has the Qu'ran, he even informed me he read the whole thing. Funny thing is he responded to one of my statements from the Qu'ran supporting the Qu'ran as the only source for law with "well I can show you many verses which say to follow/obey the messenger." I thought to myself, what is he implying with this reply? Is he implying that he rejects the verse that says it is fully detailed/well distinguished?

Anyways, I and I'm sure all if not most of the people on this forum don't have any problem or issue at all with verses which say to follow/obey the messenger, because the messenger would never teach anything that contradicts the Qu'ran...including adding extra laws...that is why the verse which says he is the best example or something along those lines does not bother me either, because he very well knows more than anyone else that his wateen will be severed if he teaches anything else, either by example or through words

and whenever he did do something contrary (he is not perfect) he was immediately rebuked, and his rebuke was made to be included in the Qu'ran...such as the time when he ignored the blind man who sought his guidance (surah 80) and when he gave permission to sit out from a fight to some people who were able either physically and/or financially to support a fighting expedition but did not want to fight
