      Salam,

What was the reaction of the Messenger Muhammad's friends when he first told them that he saw Gibrael?

      They "doubted" him.

5311 The heart did not invent what it saw.
5312 Do you doubt him in what he saw?

My question (this is a bit tricky as the answer is not conclusive) Who is the most likely person that became the guide of Moses (also known in Arabic literature as "Al-Khidr&quot?

        salaam,

Because the story of Dhul-Qarnain comes right after the story of Moses and the guide, I think that if the guide has a name mentioned in the Quran then probably it is Dhul-Qarnain as 1883 is probably referring to the guide mentioned in 1865-82.

1882 And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the city, and there was beneath it a treasure belonging to them, and their father had been righteous, and thy Lord intended that they should come to their full strength and should bring forth their treasure as a mercy from their Lord; and I did it not upon my own command. Such is the interpretation of that wherewith thou couldst not bear.
1883 They will ask thee of Dhu'l-Qarneyn. Say I shall recite unto you a remembrance of him.

Let me know if this is what you had in mind

        edit note also this ayaats

1884 Lo! We made him strong in the land and gave him unto every thing a road.
1885 And he followed a road
1886 Till, when he reached the setting-place of the sun, he found it setting in a muddy spring, and found a people thereabout. We said O Dhu'l-Qarneyn! Either punish or show them kindness.
1887 He said As for him who doeth wrong, we shall punish him, and then he will be brought back unto his Lord, Who will punish him with awful punishment!
1888 But as for him who believeth and doeth right, good will be his reward, and We shall speak unto him a mild command.

The guide of 1865-82 had also the authority to punish or to show kindness

        edit2 please note this ayaats

        1880

        1887

        1880 The guide is speaking
        1887 Dhul-Qarnain is speaking

They both use WE instead of I hmm

In case my answer was "correct" (althought it's not a real proof but just an assumption based on the simalarties between those 2) here is my question

Moses was send to Pharao and his people with some miracles. Which miracle was greater, the staff which turned in a snake or the white hand?

            Salam Bender,

Before you get your question you will need to satisfy mine

The answer I was looking for is not Dhul Qarnain. It is another man, mentioned in the Quran, whom God said He would leave him as a sign for mankind.

Samia, you asked What was the reaction of the Messenger Muhammad's friends when he first told them that he saw Gibrael?

My answer is - I don't know, because I wasn't there. Guessing doesn't work fom me, and I'm not allowed to uphold what I have no knowledge for.

So with any Scripture I am aware of so far, there's no answer for you I can provide.

              Thank you for the question.

              Peace,
              R.

                Salaam layth

the only one I can think of is Isa son of Maryem

2191 And the one who protected her chastity so We blew into her from Our Spirit , , and We made her and her son a sign for the worlds.

These two are signs for mankind

6612 And Mary, daughter of Imran, who maintained the chastity of her private part, so We blew into it from Our Spirit, and she believed in the words of her Lord and His Books; and she was of those who were dutiful.

one of those two is Maryem

5112 And the disciples said "O Jesus, son of Mary, can your Lord send down for us a feast from the heaven?" He said "Be aware of God if you are believers."

the other one is Isa, as 2191 said ?we made her and her son a sign for the world?

1928 "O sister of Aaron, your father was not a wicked man, and your mother has never been unchaste!"

mary is the sister of Aaron

2029 "And allow for me an advisor from my family."
                2030 "Aaron, my brother."

Aaron is the brother of Moses

1866 Moses said to him "Can I follow you so that you will teach me from the guidance you have been taught?"

                Moses was with the guide

last part of the proof requires to link that the guide is Isa but I can?t proof this. I wonder if you think that it is indeed Isa, what proof you have. hmm

I always thought that the guide is most likely Dhul Qarnain and my second guess was indeed Isa and my third guess is the one with knowledge of The Book

2740 And one who had knowledge from the Book said "I will bring it to you before you blink." So when he saw it resting before him, he said "This is from the grace of my Lord, so that He tests me whether I am thankful or whether I reject. As for he who is thankful, he is thankful for himself, and as for he who rejects, then my Lord is Rich, Bountiful."

for all 3 I have no real proofs.

These are the verses addressing the friends of Muhammed from chapter 53

Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled.
Nor does he say (aught) of (his own) Desire.
It is no less than inspiration sent down to him
He was taught by one Mighty in Power
Endued with Wisdom for he appeared
While he was in the highest part of the horizon
Then he approached and came closer,
And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or nearer
So he conveyed the inspiration to His Servant- (conveyed) what He (meant) to convey.
The mind and heart in no way falsified that which he saw.
Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw?
For indeed he saw him at a second descent,

                    Pharaoh?

1090 And We helped the Children of Israel cross the sea, and Pharaoh and his soldiers followed them out of hatred and animosity. But when he was certain to drown, he said "I believe that there is no god except the One in whom the Children of Israel believe, and I am of those who have submitted."
1091 "Now you say this? While before you disobeyed and were of the corrupters!"
1092 "This day, We will preserve your body, so that you become a sign for those after you." But most of the people are unaware of Our signs!

Yes. In the Quran, there is a man whom God says He will make as a "sign" for mankind - whom I believe to be the same person mentioned in 1865. Can you identify that man or the verse he is mentioned in?

The answer I was looking for was the man in 2259, whom God resurects and tells him he will be a "sign" for mankind.

2259 Or the one who passed through a town which had become ruins. He said ?How can God possibly revive this after it had died?? So
God put him to death for one hundred years, then He resurrected him. He said ?How long have you stayed here?? He said ?I have
stayed here a day or part of a day.? He said ?No, you have stayed here for one hundred years! Look at your food and drink, they
have not changed, but look at your donkey! And We will make you a sign for the people; and look at the bones how We expand
them, then We cover them with flesh.? So when it was clear to him what happened, he said ?I now know that God is capable of

Because the speaking ant could fly?

                                    Peace,

                                      Salam R,

Because the speaking ant could fly?

Exactly. The Quran tells us it was a "female ant" that Solomon heard - and as it turns out, the queen ant has wings and therefore comes under the category of "those that can fly".

What is the metaphorical meaning of 843,4,5 ?

                                        Peace,

                                          Salaam,

I don't know if I understood your question correctly.

My understanding is that we can find for example in chapter 99 what is meant in 843-5
                                          pickthal translation
991 When Earth is shaken with her earthquake
992 And Earth yieldeth up her burdens,
993 And man saith What aileth her?
994 That day she will relate her chronicles,
995 Because thy Lord inspireth her.

But I don't no if you had this in mind.

For the one who wrote the freeminds translation (Layth???) Will there be an update for this translation? If so, please look at 843.
You translated the red word "Waitha alardu muddat" as "the land" while in chapter 99 it is translated as "the earth".
