Peace be with you as well,

    I would like to expound

I do NOT believe in total corruption of the Previous scriptures. I have found many similarities and cross references across scriptures, around 300 from the Quran cross reference to the previous scriptures (this is not counting the many times that the previous scriptures can cross reference back to the Quran).
The previous scriptures have many authors, and thus one cannot just lump them all together as "falsehood". I see truth in the previous scriptures, much more truth than falsehood i would say.

I personally do not believe in a friday "khutbah" or sermon. This is not in the Quran. however, a verse pointing to religious/Quranic study like 9122,3829 4724, 482.

This is of course from my current beliefs. God knows better.

The important part is what the Quran has to say and not what me and you think. You missed interpreted the verse you quoted.

    5.43-48 But why do they come to thee for decision, when they have their Torah before them?- therein is the (plain) command of Allah. yet even after that, they would turn away. For they are not (really) People of Faith. It was We who revealed the law (to Moses) therein was guidance and light. By its standard have been judged the Jews, by the prophets who bowed (as in Islam) to Allah.s will, by the rabbis and the doctors of law for to them was entrusted the protection of Allah.s book, and they were witnesses thereto therefore fear not men, but fear me, and sell not my signs for a miserable price. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) Unbelievers. We ordained therein for them "Life for life, eye for eye, nose or nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth, and wounds equal for equal." But if any one remits the retaliation by way of charity, it is an act of atonement for himself. And if any fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (No better than) wrong-doers. And in their footsteps We sent Jesus the son of Mary, confirming the Law that had come before him We sent him the Gospel therein was guidance and light, and confirmation of the Law that had come before him a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah. Let the people of the Gospel judge by what Allah hath revealed therein. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath revealed, they are (no better than) those who rebel. To thee We sent the Scripture in truth, confirming the scripture that came before it, and guarding it in safety so judge between them by what Allah hath revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging from the Truth that hath come to thee. To each among you have we prescribed a law and an open way. If Allah had so willed, He would have made you a single people, but (His plan is) to test you in what He hath given you so strive as in a race in all virtues. The goal of you all is to Allah. it is He that will show you the truth of the matters in which ye dispute;

The Quran will not order people to follow something corrupted or illigetimate. What the verses are saying is that the Torah is a community, the Injeel is a community and the Quran is a community. One religion and one faith but different communities. Each community will be judged according to how much it adheres to the scripture it inherited.

This is identical with this verse

Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabians, whoever believes in Allah and the Last day and does good, they shall have their reward from their Lord, and there is no fear for them, nor shall they grieve

Once again what is important is what the Quran says and not our personal views.

      Bigmo,

My view is actually in line with yours.
I do not believe in Mixing and matching commandments from the Torah & the Quran (To each is own Laws and commandments).

      hawkninetynine
Yes, as you can disperse after doing salat. We are not obligated to stick around.

        Peace,

I agree. My understanding is that they were given to a different people at different times because that is what was needed. I do find similarities in what was given, however.

I am not convinced that there should be no Khutbah at Jum'a
because it is not in the Quran. It has many benefits if conducted
          properly.

            Peace,

Conclusion Quranist and Quran-alone muslims are one and the same.
Both it seems accept only what is in Quran.
They do believe in the ritual salat or the Khutbah

God-Alone muslims believe the Quran, other scriptures where they do not contradict
            Quran and the rituals.
And finally none of these groups believe in the ahadith.

            correct

In the khutbas I heard, I heard more praise to Muhammad than to God... and I heard the imam reffering to ahadith to proof his point. So I dont see any reason for why i shall waste my time in listening to 'Khutbah''.

              Peace

Should we even ATTEND jumuah? I was thinking about that over the weekend...is it right to pray behind anyone that is not praying according to the Qur'an? That's an entirely new thread... ;D

                Peace,

                  Peace Amina.

There are those who abuse the masjid by practicing idol worship, dividing the believers, and providing comfort to those who oppose God and His messenger. They solemnly swear "Our intentions are honorable!" God bears witness that they are liars.

Any masjid where the practices are not devoted absolutely to God ALONE belongs to other than God.

You shall never pray in such a masjid. A masjid that is established on the basis of righteousness from the first day is more worthy of your praying therein. In it, there are people who love to be purified. God loves those who purify themselves

                  I hope this helps.
                  Peace.

                    Peace Maha,

I agree, i've been having the exact same experience at masjids.

What I was refering to was, in the event that we find ourselves at a masjid of our liking,
                    would the khutbah be welcome.

                    Peace O0

                      My understanding

Quranist the way of interpreting the text of the book as literally as possible, rejecting the sunnah.
God Alone the way of looking at the text the way god intended it.
Quran Alone taking the book, ignoring the sunnah.

Your understanding and my understanding are the same at the moment.
I further conclude, the Quranist and Quran-Alone muslims are more restrictive
in their deen than the God-Alone muslims.

                          Peace All,

My preliminary conclusion as far as what name/title we should be addressed
should be submitters (muslims) despite disagreements. Those who have not corrupted
the shahadah and no matter what problems we have to work out between us should be
                          considered one.

In the name of GOD, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.*
Praise be to GOD, Lord of the universe.
                          Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
Master of the Day of Judgment.
You alone we worship; You alone we ask for help.
                          Guide us in the right path;
the path of those whom You blessed; not of those who have deserved wrath, nor of the strayers.

Say, "We believe in GOD, and in what was sent down to us, and in what was sent down to Abraham, Ismail, Isaac, Jacob, and the Patriarchs; and in what was given to Moses and Jesus, and all the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction among any of them. To Him alone we are submitters."

When Jesus sensed their disbelief, he said, "Who are my supporters towards GOD?" The disciples said, "We are GOD's supporters; we believe in GOD, and bear witness that we are submitters.

Say, "O followers of the scripture, let us come to a logical agreement between us and you that we shall not worship except GOD; that we never set up any idols besides Him, nor set up any human beings as lords beside GOD." If they turn away, say, "Bear witness that we are submitters."

                          WE ARE ONE

                          O0

                            Peace,

All "ists" or "isms" I now find unacceptable

                            ist
suffix of nouns, often corresponding to verbs ending in -ize or nouns ending in -ism, that denote a person who practices or is concerned with something, or holds certain principles, doctrines, etc. apologist; dramatist; machinist; novelist; realist; socialist; Thomist.

ism system of belief a movement, doctrine, or system of belief ( informal )

Those who divide themselves into sects do not belong with you. Their judgment rests with GOD, then He will inform them of everything they had done.

You shall submit to Him, reverence Him, observe the Contact Prayers (Salat), and - whatever you do - do not ever fall into idol worship.
(Do not fall in idol worship,) like those who divide their religion into sects; each party rejoicing with what they have.

Ironically, they broke up into sects only after the knowledge had come to them, due to jealousy and resentment among themselves. If it were not for a predetermined decision from your Lord to respite them for a definite interim, they would have been judged immediately. Indeed, the later generations who inherited the scripture are full of doubts.

Abraham Delivered All the Practices of Submission (Islam)

As Abraham raised the foundations of the shrine, together with Ismail (they prayed) "Our Lord, accept this from us. You are the Hearer, the Omniscient.

"Our Lord, make us submitters to You, and from our descendants let there be a community of submitters to You. Teach us the rites of our religion, and redeem us. You are the Redeemer, Most Merciful.

"Our Lord, and raise among them a messenger to recite to them Your revelations, teach them the scripture and wisdom, and purify them. You are the Almighty, Most Wise."

Who would forsake the religion of Abraham, except one who fools his own soul? We have chosen him in this world, and in the Hereafter he will be with the righteous.

When his Lord said to him, "Submit," he said, "I submit to the Lord of the universe."

Moreover, Abraham exhorted his children to do the same, and so did Jacob "O my children, GOD has pointed out the religion for you; do not die except as submitters."

I find at the moment all tags and identities other than muslim (submitter) are unacceptable.

May ALLAH Guide us to the truth.

                            Peace O0

                              Peace,

I see these three different terms used and I wonder what's the difference between them.
I for one consider myself to be one of the God Alone muslims.
One reason is because I believe in the articles of faith

                              God
                              Messengers of God
                              The Holy Books
                              The Angels of God
                              The Day of Judgment
                              The Ultimate Plan

The Holy Books are included in the articles of faith, therefore can you be
a Quranist or Quran alone muslim and adhere to the belief in the other
                              Holy Books?

                              Help me understand

                              Peace O0

They are the divided groups following the same principle. Allah says we have nothing to do with those who have herded themselves into branded groups.
                              .

Do you agree that we should only call ourselves muslims?

                                  May Peace Be Upon You,

Quran is not meant for them who claim to be already 'muslims'; but Quran is meant for those who prayerfully look up to the Almighty Allah, the All-knowing to be guided in the straight path as Muslims.
                                  .

                                    Peace guys,

If i may say something, i'd say that we do not have to use the arabic words "muslimeen" and "islaam" which are in the Quran and leaving them untranslated. This seems to cause confusion for everyone. I personally never use the arabic word because of the preconceptions from others. At the end of the day "muslim" = one who has submitted, "islaam" = peacemaking or obedience (whichever people seem to prefer but i tend to go with peacemaking). If someone asks me what i am, Muslim, Christian or Jew or whatever, my resposne will always be "I am a submitter to God alone, a strive to become a true believer in God alone". It makes sense to me. I'm tired (no offense to the arabic language of course) of seeing untranslated words abused like hell. Take "halal" for example... if you translate it, what those signs in the markets and butchers really read is "lawful food", which seems silly when you actually research on what food is lawful to us and the kind of excuses they conjure up as it being "halal". Same as "Muslim", or "Islam" etc. I tend to use the english translation of these words for the reason that the arabic words have unfortunately been put in bad light by the so-called "muslims" on this planet who fret about parading their falsehoods and deceptive lies for power and politics. Just my two cents on the matter.

                                    Peace peace

I've always just considered myself just 'muslim'. I'm aware of what it means, but for the purposes of practical discussion I've gotta call myself something.

I have qualms as to why I should assign a sub-label to myself like quranist/quran-aloner/etc though. It's other types of muslims who take on material outside the Quran as religious precedent and thus should go by a different label, not I.

                                        Point taken,

Your decision to refer to yourself by the english translation " "I am a submitter to God alone"
could be construed by non-muslims as something other than muslim. What do you say when it
becomes evident to the non-muslim that you are in fact according to their understanding
                                        muslim.

May God guide us along the path

                                        Peace

                                          Agreed

Obviously you take a firm stand, by considering yourself muslim, on the other
hand, is the english word submitter offensive to you?

                                          Peace
