Historic accounts of Muhammad?
-
I think this shud be sufficient....
- He is Nur (Sacred Light) (515)
- Allah blesses him (3356)
- Mercy for all the worlds (21107)
- His name is Muhammad (Meaning the Most Praised One) (472)
- Allah has exalted his Zikr (remembrance) (941-4)
- His exaltation on the Night of Mi?raj his heavenly ascent (538-9)
- His Station of Praise (Al-Maqam al-Mahmud) (1779)
Quranic verse "Undoubtedly, Allah and His Angels send blessings on the Prophet (the Communicator of Unseen News), O you who believe! Send upon him blessings and salute him fully well in abundance". (Surah al-Ahzab, Verse 56)
BELIEVE, HONOUR, LOVE, RESPECT AND OBEY HIM
- Believe, honour and respect him
That you (mankind) may believe in Allah and His (Prophetic) Messenger, and may respect him, and honour him, and may glorify Him (Allah) morning and evening. (489)
That you believe in Allah and His (Prophetic) Messenger, and struggle hard in Allah?s way with your property and your persons; that is better for you, if you only knew! (6111)
- Love Allah and His Beloved Prophet more than anything else
Say (O Beloved Prophet) If your fathers, and your sons, and your brothers, and your wives, and your kinsfolk, and the wealth you have acquired, and merchandise for which you fear that there will be no sale, and dwellings you desire, are dearer to you than Allah and His (Prophetic) Messenger and fighting in His Way then wait till Allah brings His Command to pass, and Allah does not guide the disobedient people. (924)
- He is closer to the believers than their own selves
The Prophet is closer to the believers than their own selves, and his wives are their mothers. And blood-relations have closer ties one to another in the Book of Allah (regarding inheritance) than (the brotherhood of) the believers and the Migrants (from Makkah), except that you do any good to your friends. This is inscribed in the Book (of Divine Decrees). (336)
- Respect him
O you who believe! Be not forward in the presence of Allah and His (Prophetic) Messenger, and be in reverential awe of Allah. Surely, Allah is All-Hearing, All-Knowing.
O you who believe! Raise not your voices above the voice of the Prophet, nor speak aloud when speaking to him as you shout one to another, lest your deeds become worthless while you perceive not.
Surely, those who lower their voices in the presence of the (Prophetic) Messenger of Allah, those are they whose hearts Allah has tested for piety. For them is forgiveness and an immense reward. (491-3)- Obey Allah (Ta?ala) and His Beloved Prophet (Sallallahu ?alayhi wa Sallam)
And obey Allah and the (Prophetic) Messenger that you may obtain mercy. (3132)
Those are the limits set by Allah, and whoso obeys Allah and His (Prophetic) Messenger, He (Allah) will make him enter Gardens (in Paradise) underneath which rivers flow, to abide therein. And that is the great success. (413)
O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the (Prophetic) Messenger and those in authority from amongst you, then if you have a dispute concerning any matter, refer it to Allah and the (Prophetic) Messenger if you believe in Allah and the Last Day (of Jedgement). That is better and very good in the end. (459)
And whoso obeys Allah and the (Prophetic) Messenger, they will be with those to whom Allah has shown favour, of the Prophets and the Truthful and the Martyrs and the Righteous, and the best of Companions are they! (469)
Whoever obeys the (Prophetic) Messenger has indeed obeyed Allah; and whoever turns away, so We have not sent you as a keeper over them. (480)
And the believing (Muslim) men and the believing (Muslim) women are protecting friends one of another; they enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, and they establish regular Prayer and they give the obligatory charity (Zakat), and they obey Allah and His (Prophetic) Messenger. As for these, Allah will have mercy on them. Undoubtedly, Allah is Mighty, Wise. (971)
And he who obeys Allah and His (Prophetic) Messenger, and has reverential awe of Allah, and keeps his duty (to Him) then these it is that are the successful. (2452)
Say (O Beloved Prophet) ?Obey Allah and obey the (Prophetic) Messenger. But if you turn away, he is only responsible for the duty placed on him and you for that placed on you, and if you obey him, you will be rightly guided. And the responsibility of the (Prophetic) Messenger is only to convey (the Message) clearly. (2454)
And establish regular Prayer and give the obligatory charity (Zakat) and obey the (Prophetic) Messenger, so that mercy may be shown to you (from Allah). (2456)
O you who believe! Have reverential awe of Allah and speak the right word.
He (Allah) will set right your deeds for you and will forgive you your sins, and whosoever obeys Allah and His (Prophetic) Messenger, he has indeed gained a mighty success. (3370-71)The bedouins say ?We believe?. Say (to them, O beloved Prophet) ?You do not (yet) believe, but rather say ?We have submitted?, for the Faith has not yet entered your hearts. But if you obey Allah and His (Prophetic) Messenger, He will not diminish anything of (the reward of) your deeds. Surely, Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
The (true) believers are only those who have believed in Allah and His (Prophetic) Messenger and afterward, have never doubted but have struggled with their wealth and their persons in the Way of Allah. It is they who are the truthful. (4914-15)And obey Allah and obey the (Prophetic) Messenger; but if you turn away, then (know that) the duty of our (Prophetic) Messenger is only to convey (the Message) clearly. (6412)
- Follow the Commands of Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta?ala) and of his Beloved Prophet (Sallallahu ?alayhi wa Sallam)
And it befits not a believing (Muslim) man or a believing (Muslim) woman, when Allah and His (Prophetic) Messenger have decreed a matter (for them), that they should (after that) claim any choice in their matter; and whoso disobeys Allah and His (Prophetic) Messenger, he has surely gone astray in manifest error. (3336)
- Whatever he gives you, take it
Whatever Allah has restored to His (Prophetic) Messenger from the people of the towns, it is for Allah and for the (Prophetic) Messenger, and for the near of kin and the orphans and the needy and the wayfarers, so that it may not (merely) circulate between the wealthy among you, and whatever the (Prophetic) Messenger gives you, take it and whatever he forbids you, abstain (from it), and be in reverential awe of Allah; surely Allah is severe in retributing (evil). (597)
- The reward of believing in Allah and His Prophet (Sallallahu ?alayhi wa Sallam)
O you who believe! Be in reverential awe of Allah and believe in His (Prophetic) Messenger. He (Allah) will give you twofold of His Mercy and will appoint for you a light wherein you shall walk, and will forgive you, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. (572

Peace be upon you, and thank you, Rising Star.
Yes, we all know that. We do respect prophet Muhammad (pbuh). What makes you think that if someone doesn?t say ?peace be upon him? after Muhammad?s (pbuh) name, then it is an implication of not respecting him enough?
Isn?t it God Himself who told us to call the prophets and messengers just by their names only?
Say "We believe in God, and in that which has been bestowed from on high upon us, and that which has been bestowed upon Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and, their descendants, and that which has been vouchsafed to Moses and Jesus; and that which has been vouchsafed to all the prophets by their Sustainer we make no distinction between any of them. And it is unto Him that we surrender ourselves." (2136)
Anyway, you?ve answered only half of my question. Where is the verse in the Qur?an which says that we have to say ?salam/peace? on Muhammad (pbuh) like you've claimed?
Brother, let me tell you. There isn?t a single verse in the entire Qur?an where it says that we have to say ?salam? on Muhammad (pbuh). There is only one verse (3356) which you can quote just like the Sunnis and Shias who quote that verse to prove that we have to say ?salam/peace? on Muhammad (pbuh).
Here?s the verse
Yusuf Ali Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him, and salute him with all respect. (3356)
Wahiduddin Khan God and His angels bestow blessings on the Prophet. O believers, you also should invoke blessings on him and give him greetings of peace. (3356)
Transliteraion Inna Allaha wamala-ikatahu yusalloona AAala alnnabiyyi ya ayyuha allatheena amanoo salloo AAalayhi wasallimoo tasleeman
The Sunni translators have translated ?wasallimoo tasleeman? as ?salute him/give him peace?.
The same words have been used in 465.
Transliteration Fala warabbika la yu/minoona hatta yuhakkimooka feema shajara baynahum thumma la yajidoo fee anfusihim harajan mimma qadayta wayusallimoo tasleeman
Now look how the Sunni translators have translated the same words in 465.
Yusuf Ali But no, by the Lord, they can have no (real) Faith, until they make thee judge in all disputes between them, and find in their souls no resistance against Thy decisions, but accept them with the fullest conviction. (465)
Wahiduddin Khan By your Lord, they will not be true believers until they seek your arbitration in their disputes and find within themselves no doubt about what you decide and accept it wholeheartedly. (465)
So the correct translation of ?wasallimoo tasleeman? is ?to accept wholeheartedly/to give up in utter self-surrender/to submit with entire submission.?
Now in both 3356 and 465, Muhammad Asad, Progressive Muslims and Bijan Moeinian have translated the verses correctly.
Muhammad Asad Verily, God and His angels bless the Prophet O you who have attained to faith, bless him and give yourselves up in utter self-surrender! (3356)
Muhammad Asad But nay, by thy Sustainer! They do not believe unless they make thee a judge of all on which they disagree among themselves, and then find in their hearts no bar to an acceptance of thy decision and give themselves up in utter self-surrender. (465)
Progressive Muslims God and His Angels reach out to the prophet. O you who believe, you shall reach out to him, and yield completely. (3356)
Progressive Muslims No, by your Lord, they will not believe until they make you judge in what they dispute with each other, then they will not find in their souls any animosity for what you have decided, and they will yield completely. (465)
Bijan Moeinian God and His angels shower the Prophet (Mohammad) with their blessings. If you are a believer, you, too, should respect him and follow his orders to the point. (3365)
Bijan Moeinian Never indeed, by your Lord; they can never be a true believer until the submit their disputes to your judgment, do not resent it and accept it full heartedly. (465)
I do not say that we shouldn?t say ?peace be upon him? after the names of prophets and messengers. In fact, I, myself, say ?peace be upon him? after their names, but if someone doesn?t say that, then it does not mean that the person is not respecting the prophets and messengers.
Peace.

what does this verse do according to you

Salaam,
I think mmKhan has the same opinion as me.
Anyways I like to know how you came to this conclusion.
I mean, I know that you don't believe in Allah and in The Quran so what convinced you?
If it's from the literature you mentioned what kind of arguments did the author have for his claim.Salaam,
BenderGood to know. It's always nice to know that you are not completely alone when postulating a somewhat controversial opinion.
It's not that any one or single text convinced me. I am not convinced, by the way. This opinion has been shaping in my head by reading different stories from different authors and slowly putting the pieces together in my head.
When the documentary by Tom Holland caused some controversy and iERA brought out their dishonest and badly researched text I went and dug a little deeper. My research then led to different people saying different things and then the different pieces just fell into place an suddenly I had a complete story in my mind, which took years to shape.

Quranic verse "Undoubtedly, Allah and His Angels send blessings on the Prophet (the Communicator of Unseen News), O you who believe! Send upon him blessings and salute him fully well in abundance". (Surah al-Ahzab, Verse 56)
It is clear that you have no idea what "taslim" means in 3356. I am not sure if you know Arabic but the word "salute" doesn't occur in the passage.
If you can read Arabic then you will see the same exact word "taslima" is used in other passages in the Quran. In 465 the expression "salimu taslima" means "submit full submission" and not "salute full abundance" as you falsely claim
004.065
PICKTHAL But nay, by thy Lord, they will not believe (in truth) until they make thee judge of what is in dispute between them and find within themselves no dislike of that which thou decidest, and submit with full submission.
SHAKIR But no! by your Lord! they do not believe (in reality) until they make you a judge of that which has become a matter of disagreement among them, and then do not find any straitness in their hearts as to what you have decided and submit with entire submission. Also, had you bothered to read the complete Chapter 33 then you would have seen the same exact word "taslima" used in 3322 to mean submission and not salutation as you fabricate
033.022
PICKTHAL And when the true believers saw the clans, they said This is that which Allah and His messenger promised us. Allah and His messenger are true. It did but confirm them in their faith and resignation.
SHAKIR And when the believers saw the allies, they said This is what Allah and His Messenger promised us, and Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth; and it only increased them in faith and submission. So your translation should be corrected to say
"Undoubtedly, Allah and His Angels send blessings on the Prophet (the Communicator of Unseen News), O you who believe! Send upon him blessings and submit to him fully well in abundance". (Surah al-Ahzab, Verse 56)Notice that the god is very accurate and doesn't say
"Undoubtedly, Allah and His Angels send blessings on the Prophet (the Communicator of Unseen News) and submit to him fully well in abundance, O you who believe! Send upon him blessings and submit to him fully well in abundance". (Surah al-Ahzab, Verse 56)This is of course because the god doesn't submit to anyone no matter who he is. On the other hand, the command to submit is only given to the believers in the second part of 3356.
So, according to 3356, when you mindlessly say "salla allahu alayh wa sallam" you are actually saying "salla allahu alayh and submitted", in other words you are saying that the god submitted to the prophet (the god be most exalted above what you describe). This is the problem with mechanically repeating words like a parrot without understanding. You are ignorantly uttering a gross blasphemy. Now that you have been given knowledge, hopefully you will repent and correct.
Peace,
Ayman

Salam brother Ayman,
I love how make them super cool entries and then BOOM BANG POW KABAM the whole thread becomes all intense epic ;D, but like javed1 said, what exactly are we supposed to do in accordance with the injunction of 3356?
-
Peace mmmm,
GOD and His angels help and support the prophet. O you who believe,
you shall help and support him, and regard him as he should be regarded. This ayat refers to the prophet during his lifetime. We cannot help or support
Muhammad now because he is dead. Remember the muslims were being
challenged and this ayat is one of the "rallying" ayats intended to "encourage"
the believers to stand firm and be unshakeable in the face of the enemies.
Faith, steadfastness and other attributes are encouraged throughout the Quran.O you who believe, do not raise your voices above the voice of the prophet,
nor shall you shout at him as you shout at each other, lest your works become
nullified while you do not perceive. Can we raise our voices above Muhammad's? Can you hear him? I hope not.
Recall that you said to the one who was blessed by GOD, and blessed by you,
"Keep your wife and reverence GOD," and you hid inside yourself what GOD wished
to proclaim. Thus, you feared the people, when you were supposed to fear
only GOD. When Zeid was completely through with his wife, we had you marry her, in
order to establish the precedent that a man can marry the divorced wife of his adopted
son. GOD's commands shall be done. This is an example of an ayat that refers to the prophet, we need to be able to distinguish
ayats that tell us about the prophet's character, the situation the muslims were faced
with (history) and inspirational ayats. As far as "his story" outside of Quran, Is not God sufficient?

Peace brothers FA and Javed,
I love how make them super cool entries and then BOOM BANG POW KABAM the whole thread becomes all intense epic ;D, but like javed1 said, what exactly are we supposed to do in accordance with the injunction of 3356?
Thank you for a nice explanation. But how are we to send blessings on the prophet.Any ideas.?Also does the word nabi apply to someone in my lifetime who has given news not known to me.?
Kindly help.!Of course there is no such thing as "send blessings" in the passage. The same word "yusali" is used in 3343
- He is the one who "yusali" on you, He and his contollers, to lead you out of the darknesses into the light. And he is ever merciful towards those who have faith.
One can easily find the correct meaning of "salat" by looking at the same exact effect repeated word for word in the following passage
6510-11. O you who possess intelligence and have faith, the god has sent down to you a reminder A messenger who recites on you the god's clarifying signs, to lead those who have faith and work righteousness out of the darknesses into the light.
So "salat" has the same exact effect as reciting the quran.
This is why "reading is used as a synonym of "salat" in 1778.
This is why the quran is called "a reminder" and the purpose of salat is to "remind" (see 2014).
Salat and reminder is two ways
- So remember me and I will remember you and be thankful and do not be unappraciative.
So we do "salat" to remember the god and he does "salat" on us to remind us. It is a two way process.
So we do "salat" by reading the god's signs and the god does salat on us by giving us his signs. The more we read and ponder on his signs, the more we remember him and the more he remembers us and gives us bigger and bigger signs.
It is very simple.
Peace,
Ayman

Peace, hawkninetynine.

Depending on interpretation, we actually CAN raise our voices above the voice of Muhammad - namely, by looking to our own guidance and opinions rather than his. This Qur'aanic passage, like many others, can have a dual meaning, and it's not only applicable during his lifetime. The same context was relayed in the Bible, spoken by Jesus
Avraham saith unto him, "They have Moshe (Moses) and the prophets; let them hear them..." And he said unto him, "If they hear not Moshe and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead." (Luke 1631)
How can the people, e.g. the Jewish people, 'hear Moses and the prophets'? Weren't they dead? Of course they were! However, that doesn't mean we stop listening to (hearing) them through their teachings the prophetic scriptures. The Jews who lived during the time of Jesus were chastised for not listening to Moses; they didn't listen to him because they ceased following his guidelines inherent in the Torah. Similarly, if you place your own ideas and opinions above the Qur'aan, you have figuratively 'raised your voice above Muhammad's voice', or you have ceased to follow the prophet's guidance.
If the Qur'aan was authored by a timeless god, then the message contained within it is just as applicable today as it was "yesterday" during its initial formation.
Peace,
Ahmad

The problem I have with your position concerning "salat" is the context of the word when used in certain other passages in the Qur'aan. For example
Do you not see that Allah is He Whom do glorify all those who are in the heavens and the earth, and the birds with expanded wings? He knows the "salat" of each one and its glorification, and Allah is knowledgeable of what they do. (Q. 2441)
Obviously, we can't equate "salat" with 'reading', since birds can't read. We also can't equate it with 'prayer', since birds don't perform Islamic prayer rituals, etc. So, how are we to interpret this? How do you define the word "salat" as used in the Qur'aan?
Peace,
Ahmad

AhmadPeace Ahmad Bilal,
No you cannot raise your voice above the prophet's any longer because he is dead. You
may try, but you will fail. Yes the Quran is applicable and a guidance for all of mankind,
but the ayat teaches not to shout or overtalk the prophet. People do not generally raise
their voice over that of the pope either. Please read the context. In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you who believe, do not place your opinion above that of GOD and His messenger.
You shall reverence GOD. GOD is Hearer, Omniscient.O you who believe, do not raise your voices above the voice of the prophet,
nor shall you shout at him as you shout at each other, lest your works become nullified
while you do not perceive.Surely, those who lower their voices at the messenger of GOD are the ones whose
hearts are prepared by GOD to become righteous. They have deserved forgiveness and
a great recompense. As for those who call on you from outside the walls, most of them do not understand.
Had they been patient until you came out to them (takhruja), it would have been better for them. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.
This is a lesson for the believers about how to behave in the presence of the
messenger of God.We made the Quran easy to learn. Does any of you wish to learn?
