      Peace
I pasted for you Sahih International translation to put my point across, regarding our differences in understanding of the Qur?aanic message.

The Qur'aan is the last book of ALLAAH. That takes us to al-kitaab. It is in al-kitaab where all the knowledge is collected, and as you do not follow al-kitaab you would not understand what ?ALLAAHumaa? stands for according to my defination.

      Peace

        Peace Abdellilah

The reason Timur only quoted that part was because of this

Earthdom "In Lane Lexicon page 1612 in section , reffering the word shahr as month not moon."

So here it is again. Lane's Lexicon, page 1612
The moon or the moon when conspicuous, and near to being full.

Please re-read my post again in page 7.

So he wasn't "only picking some part" but disproving a false claim.

hmm.Didn't understant what do ya mean D

Peace farida -- your bizarre numerology obsessed imam's book that commands stoning, no thanks!

did the book or Qur'an command anyone to stone people?

No the Qur'aan did not but the book (al-kitaab) did.

            Peace,

Only man-made insertions in the past scriptures advocated stoning. The original text on tablets to Moses and so on did not mention anything about that. Logic can tell much was added from the time of inscription. A whole lot of pages associated with the Book of Moses are only hearsay much like the hadith of Muhammad. The same type of people who wrote hadith of Muhammad inserted blasphemous passages to Moses' Message and Law statutes.

            God bless you

              Salam Bender
it refers to God and not to sulmeiman simply because that verse follows a bismillah that means literally in name of god. It is just the content of the message sent to queen of saba by suleiman in name of God

              Peace

                Sister Noshirk.

Would you like to share your views on ramadan and shehr in detail?

I recently almost came to a conclusion regarding ramadan, and i do not believe that we are in ramadan, but would like to know your point of view.

                Peace

sorry sister for my late response
here a summary of what i think

here why i think that ramadan is in september. http//free-minds.org/forum/index.php?topic=9604822.0

now shahr is, like brother ayman noticed, is full moon. Astronomically it last few seconds but it seems full for three days. Word Shahr refers of notion of visibility.

19-26 says that saum is an abstinence of speaking to humans and dedicating time only to god.

we have also mention of three days for zacharie. When you compare 3-41 and 19-10 you can deduce that zacharie was fasting from speaking during the day

11-65 also mention a duration of 3 days as delay from god. lt makes me remember expression of delay related to insilakh asshar haram 95

there is four shahr haram. to each of them is associated a hajj period. 28-27 shows that hajj is a period of time and since there is 4 hajj a year then there is a hajj every trimester. (hajj for me is a festival where occurs debates betwenn hojjajs who are people who knows quran and simple visitors called who making omra).
Since deen of god don't change, we have similarites with jewish and zoroasters festivals.

we find also three days of saoum in 2-196. visitors have to make saoum during 3 days and don't raise heads until the gift of god reaches the destinatin (mind) and have to make seven other days of meditation when return home (i suppose that who make omra without his family don't have to make saoum since he have to teach what he learnt to his family). So hajj requires 10 tens days (3 of to total listening and seven of meditation or debate with family).

conclusion Hajj 1 and ramadan first full after 20 september. Hajj 2,3 and 4 every three lunar months. A lunar month is called sanaton in quran (people of kahf stayed 25 solar years in kahf and noah stayed between his people 1000 sanaton less 50 years wich means 81-50=31 years).

Finally i don't think that islam is related to word peace. Root slm, in dictionnary means "safe from illness (of mind)". Islam is to be safe of mind. it requires to connect (salat) to god to get purification (zakat). It is obtained by meditation (saoum from human speakings) and thanks to help of truthfull guardians of words of God (moominouns) during hajj debates with them.

                Peace

                  Peace noshirk,

Thanks for adding thoughts to my mind. Of course salam is not literally peace. I should have known better and thanks for enlightening me. It is of course related to the philosophies I have about islam with its ulterior goal of reaching an inner balance or harmony in your soul. It is certainly possible to connote it with peace but this is not the exact meaning. Your explanation is more exact as to say 'be safe' or 'be well', or to wish someone a harmonious presence, instead of only literally say 'peace'. Like muslim it is probably difficult to directly translate.

                  God bless you

                      Peace,

you are going to fast for two month?

Oops! No, that was a typo, I meant to say 6th of September at nightfall/whenever the new crescent can be seen as the start of Ramadan, in my opinion.

                          Peace Man of Faith,

Grammatically, if you choose to use God as a name, the definite article is wrong to use for Him. Normally, if you refer to God you refer to Him as an animate intelligent being which makes "the god" grammatically wrong. 'The god' turns out to be a relatively clinical expression giving God a cold nature making Him into more like an object. If talking about a specific proper being then 'God' is the correct usage.
                          Check dictionary.

Actually, grammatically it is an absolute certainty that the initial "AL" in "allah" is the definite article. In Arabic grammar when the preposition "li" (to) is attached to a noun with the definite article, it automatically removes the initial "A" in the definite article. Also, if the first letter of the word is "L", it also removes the "L" since grammatically in Arabic you cannot have three consecutive "L"s. So becomes

This is a very well known grammar rule in Arabic so I find it astonishing that people are still confused about what is certainly the most important word in the great reading means.

In Arabic, as I have understood, the definite article added to the same word you pronounce has a different use than English and is of more general use. Just because you say Al-Lah does not render the god correct in English. Allah is used as a proper name and for that the God is grammatically incorrect. God has many names and that is why you also see al-rahman and al-raheem, they are names as the so-called 'basmala' indicates by 'bism'. So since they are names then logically Allah must also be treated as a proper name causing 'the God' to be incorrect usage of English. God is the universally accepted English name for the god of the Abrahamic religion, and since there is only one god there is little to discuss. God is God. You do not say 'the Henrik' for example.

Exactly, al-rahman, al-rahim, al-ilah (contracted form al-lah). They all follow the same exact pattern. You are simply not used to hearing the correct translation "the god" but a man of faith, should have faith in the meaning closest to the truth even if it sounds unusual.

                          Peace,

                          Ayman

                            Peace brother Noon,

Peace -- where is "O" as in 221 O you the humankind? Ending with usually means our/s)

Actually Farida was correct in that the "O" is the correct translation. The reason "allahum" is used only with "allah" is because the initial "al" is the definite article. In Arabic you cannot attach the calling device "O" (Arabic "ya&quot directly to a noun with the definite article. This is ungrammatical and in Arabic you have to add the pointing device "ayuha" between the "ya" and the noun with the definite article. So for a example we cannot say "ya alrajul" because it is ungrammatical and to make it grammatical we have to say "ya ayuha alrajul" ( &#1604 (Literally hey you the man). However, using the pointing device "ayuha" is not a respectful way to address someone. So in the case of the god and only in the case of the god, the great reading used the expression "allahum". This all has to do with the rules of grammar when a noun has the definite article attached to it.

                            Peace,

                            Ayman

Although your inputs are very few on this forum but always educative, informative and worth pondering. I don not remember when exactly I joined this forum but must be 13 to 15 years before but I still remember when my first input on this forum was corrected by you, and the way you corrected me regarding the translation error, became the cause of respect for you, and cemented a place in my heart. I am waiting anxiously for your latest article which is in the process of translation from Arabic to English.

May Allah keep you in the path of learning and teaching and propagating the truth, which ultimately benefits all.

                              Thanks
